Dr Zoidberg
28 Jan 16#90
As I've said, there is nothing to stop you buying the car on finance then phoning VW Financial Services a week later and getting a settlement figure to pay it off in full.
It's there in the T&Cs on their website, and a perfectly valid option if you have £20k in the bank to buy a car outright.

Get annoyed when people state this car is for women, hairdressers, homosexuals, effeminate men in general. This car seems to have a good reliability record as does the BMW Z4 and Z5 and the Mazda MX-5 has exceptionally brilliant reliability. It's like as a man you are not allowed a reliable sports car you have to spend 5 hours fettling the car in the garage or at the dealer for every 5hrs driving or its not a man's sport car.
The complexity of this Audi worries me a bit though with the virtual cockpit, while that looks amazing Audi have a terrible track record for introducing new tech that isn't reliable and causes a huge amount of headaches for owners. Often with huge repair bills just after the warranty ends.

I actually wanted a TTRS but they stopped making and didnt want 2nd hand in case it had been tracked. Im looking forward to see the new TTRS reckon it will be mental.
Im still really happy with my TTS mk2 its still a cracking car but with cars you do get itchy feet!
The TT for budget, build, etc is best in its class its won me over.
JJJZ
27 Jan 161#38
The TT is a great car dont let anyone put you off by saying its a hairdressers car. I certainly dont think about that in my TTS as I apply the accelerator and hear the noise. Ive got the MK2 about to replace after 3 years its been a trojan doing the length of country often. Its has plenty chucked in it and I mean plenty, as the seats fold down to take quite a capacity. That practicality wnd value for money had me choose it over a Porsche Cayman. Some may say thats mad but half the price and way more easy to use as a general car. Ive had the new one for a few days to test as well and its a great car. Lighter and more nimble than mine, even more powerful. Bang for buck as a sports car for the average joe its great. Ignore the hairdressers comments its just those that cant have them because they need a 5 door so have to stick with the 5 door hatch family cars which you see as sales reps up and down the country yet couldnt get a 5 series/a6.
stave84 to JJJZ

TTS is a cracking drive, have a black edition myself. Cayman is a wonderful car but equally the option to use the back seat if needed is helpful. If only for short hops.
New TT is definitely nicer but i'd be keen on the TTRS :stuck_out_tongue:

Great price, would be tempted. What are the terms of the finance though? If it's some rip-off APR and you're forced to take it (and either they front-load interest or prevent early pay-off) then this would go some way to offset any benefit of the great price.

I've owned a Mk1 TT Quattro - stage 2 remap, on boost kicks out around 260 bhp. More than adequate for my daily 30 mile commute. Heated leather seats, aircon, Bose and its four wheel drive holds the road like a limpet. It's bulletproof, reliable and comfy. Owned for nearly 7 years now. It's unbelievably practical (I bought a go-kart for my son and it fit in the boot with the rear seats down, a play kitchen that wouldn't even fit in a Tescos delivery van or my wife's Passat!) and a fun (Google TT defcon upgrade) to drive. IMHO the TT beast, beats most of the dullards out there. Oh, and a MK3 for £21K, is hot from me.

27 Jan 162#78
Why is it that whenever I've heard people making "jokes" about the TT (as well as the BMW Z3 and Z4) being hairdressers cars, it either by kids who can't actually drive yet or by dullards who drive boring family cars? It was never really very funny, but now it's just become a tired, banal, hackneyed cliché. Give it a rest guys.
And no, I don't own a TT, Z3 or Z4. I've got a knackered Fiesta ST with a lot of miles on the clock!

Hardly. The person in control was zooming in from International Space Station level to Street level showing every stage in between. Yes, absolutely. VW often have perks like three years free servicing or a deposit contribution when you buy on finance, so it's fairly common to take them up on the offer and then phone VW Financial Services a week later and ask for a settlement figure.
You'll have a week's interest charges which will be tiny compare to the extra savings you made.

They aren't very well equipped as standard. To get some decent spec you are talking an extra couple of grand on top of this. It is a shame it is only the 180bhp version as well.
Still a good price though. However as someone pointed out is in only a Golf in a frock. For similar money, you could get a far better spec'd and much faster hot hatch (Focus ST3 for example, or even the 290bhp Leon sports coupe..). The new TT is a pretty car though, I will give it that.

It's a TFSI engine which is identical to the TSI engine found in the rest of the VAG cars ( Audi do this on engines and gearboxes ( S-tropic instead of DSG ) so it doesn't seam like your paying a premium price for what essentially has the same running gear as a SEAT / SKODA / VW ) one of the many reasons I dislike Audi, still voted Hot on the deal.

Very good price even if it's the peasant spec'd model, as with all Audi's 5k needs to be spend on "extras" just to bring it to the same equipment level of most hatchbacks these days.
