Seems too expensive for what it is. Android 4.4 is very much out of date, and 1GB of RAM is already quite annoying. In a year it will be obsolete.

I sadly agree :disappointed: NOT about the 4.4.4 - I think 4.4.4 is really good and stable
However 1gb RAM does not cut it anymore, apps are constantly more RAM heavy and take so much size

I had the memopad hd 7 and it was good for the price but quite laggy at times and couldn't really keep up with basic stuff without struggling. Good price but 2gb ram would have been a better idea than just 1.

The Toshiba Excite Pro is stuck on 4.3, so if you can find it for a good price, it is a capable tablet.

I had the newer version from argos the z370c zenpad, I had to send it back it was very very laggy even with basic surfing, in the end went with a flubit and grabbed a Asus Z580c for 150, although double the price, it's a completely different experience

how is the battery life on the z580? i was watching the price go up and down from 150 to 170 on currys/ebay, but very few shops stock it, and only 1 or 2 reviews, so undecided.

Well since the reviews, it's had updates, I am finding the battery gives me around 7 hours or more OST, great tablet, no Android 6 yet though.

Hi I have one of these and I quite like it I only play card games do a bit of surfing and youtube and its fine for those. My real complaint is that every time I turn it on it starts updating Asus software that I don't want and stupid things like the keyboard etc which is annoying as it slows it down whilst updating.

You need to go into your play store account and untick automatic updates. Then this will never happen.

using one right now, I got for 40 quid off Amazon warehouse last year. ok for browsing and general stuff but stuck on 4.4 and will never be updated past it. however it did just get a stagefright patch. boot loader is locked so no chance of 3rd party roms. other wise it works reasonably well screen is quite nice and with a big micro sd in is good for movies on the go.

I am still happily using my Toshiba Excite Pro despite Toshiba being just about the worst manufacturer for not supporting their products or for that matter allowing the rooting of them.
It may be a little bulky by todays standards but even nearly 2.5 years after buying for £160 you would struggle to find a tablet as powerful with such a glorious screen resolution...and for my uses I am finding 4.3 still adequate.

I thought that way until I got a refurb Sony Xperia Z. It is just as old as the Toshiba (and it was only a bit more expensive initially), but it is soooooo much better, it is unbelievable. And as you said, most of that difference is down to poor software from Toshiba.
