Top of the line Dolby 7.1 surround sound headset down from £250 to £140.
Amazon has it for £235, and the cheapest I can find these is around £190.
An amazing headset for this price, considering the alternative is the Turtle Beach Elite 800x and that goes for more than £200.
Edited to include this is PC, Mac and PS4 compatible.
One other thing, I think the lady in Argos said it had a two year warranty with Argos as well as the manufacturer. If anyone goes to buy, could they please check and clarify. Cheers

Just picked mine up from Birmingham Union Street. I reserved them for collection and pay in store but was told they were not available and withdrawn from sale. Fortunately, and after a couple of minutes on the computer, the very helpful sales assistant sorted it for me

Sell them, at that price you could make a profit and someone could get a good deal on a set.

This version a sound card with an optical out to work with a PC, so you will need one. I already have the set, but figured a spare headset to be a good investment. A great price. Argos no longer show this on their website, but it's worth a visit. My Bristol Cribbs had some on the shelf, but not visible to their system, so work on it!
Even though this set has a smaller box, it includes the Mixamp and stand and the Xbox One conenctor, other than that, it appears to be the same as the PC/PS4 version.

The experience i had was this:
My wife went up to the till rather than the touch screen points and gave the reservation number.
The lady looked puzzled, went out the back.
She came back after a few minutes and said "Sorry about that, they're a new item" and she paid the price I reserved it at.
No hassle, no quibbling.
My wife said "I suspect there was a stop put on the item and it wasn't communicated properly to staff" and "if we had gone later like you wanted" [she insisted we went now!] "you probably wouldn't have got them".
Fair point and a reason why you should trust your wife's advice!
Whatever the situation, Argos didn't even question it.
I feel for those who have had an issue but I think it's probably worth saying that other people have had it honoured.
I got mine from the Abingdon store (Oxfordshire) if anyone wants to give an example of a store that has had no issues.

You may well get yours as you were able to pay online. I tried, and my card and Paypal were refused. Defo got enough money in the accounts. I ordered at 5.30pm and went in at 6.30pm. The manager said he thought it was a tech problem. He called another 2 local stores with stock, and they also found they couldnt sell them. I have a direct number to call tomorrow. It may be Argos have reduced it too much and have withdrawn it meantime, but as i explained to the manager, it has been cheaper in the past in Argos, as i was able to show previous HUKD posts.

'withdrawn from sale', are they going to burn them all? Sounds like utter BS to me! I'd ask to pay in cash if card and paypal are declined; it's still for sale on the site.

Very muddy bass, but good overall clarity if you're playing FPS games. I tried to play The Last of Us with these but the sound quality is just mediocre. Best console headphones though. Although I still think the Official playstation wireless headphones were the best, lacking bass but just as clear as Astros and battery life was WAYYYY LONGER.

Yup, the 800X failing, the Mic. Why oh why did they decide to embed the mics like that.
Take the 800X, make it sounds like the A50s or the Steelseries H, and put the Mic on a boom (with a Mic like the 500X) and they will have a winner.
The thing I don't like as much on the A50s, is you have to charge after each session. Sometime I forget.
Whereas the Steelseries H scheme of battery charging in the base station, and one draining in the headset is perfect.

I got the wired A40's in an Argos sale at Xmas. Stellar sound but all my mates said I sounded like a robot through the mic and I could barely hear myself because of the extremely low mic monitoring. Went back to the trusty old Turtle Beach X32's. Tempted by these but it seems that the mic quality is crappy on these too. Why are there no surround headsets that (a) work on all systems, (b) have great mic quality and (c) have decent mic monitoring?

It's the headset, stand, wireless receiver and cables. I was on the understanding the mixamp is now built into the headset and the transmitter. Voice/game audio mix is done by pressing either end of the right ear piece. The £109 mixamp is for the a40.

How do these compare to the 800x ???
Mikey_b to aaronwillis7
12 Feb 16#9
According to the reviews I've read, the internal mic on the 800x makes it sound like you're in a tin can. I've not tested them, but am really happy with the sound on the A50. I also have the TB Stealth 500p, and these sound a lot better.

12 Feb 16#39
I'd advise steering clear on the 800x. Bought them on release and whilst the sound was exceptional, the mic was dreadful. I was told by several different online friends in different parties that I sounded distant with a tin can effect etc, I sent them back after two weeks. However I would say, if the mic doesn't bother you then it's really your call. I absolutely loved the bluetooth audio function of the 800x, meant I could listen to stuff from my phone.

Bought these (Halo edition) when they were last on offer @ Argos for £129.99. I will say, although my first pair went faulty after 40 days they are absolutely splendid. You won't regret it, the sound quality is immense. I'd advise that you update both firmware of the MixAmp and the headset though (via PC), this is essential.
My replacement set have been faultless for the last 2 months.
So go get them!

12 Feb 16#36

I have the 800 (PS4 ver) not had any issues with the mic from any of my friends and they can all hear my clearly (mic lvl on my ps4 is set to 3/4)
only issue is i find it hard to get used to not having a mic boom stick in front of my face. also sometimes my PS4 does not pick up the mic (i always leave it on standby) easy fix unplug the usb then plug it back in then works. this is not an issue with the Headset more 2 do with the PS4 system from long standby (i play daily and it only happens about 1s a week and my own fault for not power it off. as it like ti make sure it is fully charged and last all day playing games from 11am-1am)

Nope it doesn't need a cable, its only when you use it with an xbox that you have to tether the headset to the controller with a chat cable.
On ps4 its totally wireless. The base/mix amp needs to be connected to the console via optical and a usb, but the headset/mic works without any wires.

awsome deal, seems these are the same as the ps4 set but you get an adaptor that lets you set them on up the xbox (you dont need for the ps4) checked on the Astro forums and yes the mic and everything workson ps4,
as for the voice issues this has been fixed via a firmware update so that's the first thing you should do out of the box.

Whereas the Steelseries H scheme of battery charging in the base station, and one draining in the headset is perfect.
i use them on XB1, 360 and PC. Also work with PS3/4
just remember to update the firmware if you do get these.
My replacement set have been faultless for the last 2 months.
So go get them!
only issue is i find it hard to get used to not having a mic boom stick in front of my face. also sometimes my PS4 does not pick up the mic (i always leave it on standby) easy fix unplug the usb then plug it back in then works. this is not an issue with the Headset more 2 do with the PS4 system from long standby (i play daily and it only happens about 1s a week and my own fault for not power it off. as it like ti make sure it is fully charged and last all day playing games from 11am-1am)
I managed to get the halo edition that was posted on here a few months ago.
I've reserved a set but still debating what to do
I'd prefer a complete wireless set like the 800 ,500 or 420
But all the reviews I have read say the Astros are awesome
On ps4 its totally wireless. The base/mix amp needs to be connected to the console via optical and a usb, but the headset/mic works without any wires.
as for the voice issues this has been fixed via a firmware update so that's the first thing you should do out of the box.
same deal posted last year was cold
