Yes lots of them.... but it depends on various things
1) Using Wifi, is that a must ?
2) Whats is the price you want to spend?

If you are close to the router and can use a LAN cable then get a Minix X-8h or Nvidia Shield TV (Remote aint the best on Shield TV but box is great) They are very expensive... Sourcingbay have some great devices on there website and are also a seller on amazon too

I recommend a device with 2GB Ram and 2.0Ghz chip £35 - £50... Then delete ALL of the bloatware and junk that is pre-installed like facebook, whatever version of kodi is installed... Now just install latest kodi, showbox and whatever you want.... dont fill it with junk you will never use...

Hope this helps

You can't beat a fixed ethernet connection.Sticks are just useless if you don't know how to side load or use es explorer.Get a decent box, plenty out there..

lol the beast is garbage and now has a PIN number and can only be downloaded 5 times a week. This is meant to stop box sellers, but all someone has to do is make a wizard and every time the beast is updated they can update theirs by downloading it with their pin and uploading it to their wizard. Great way to stop people selling your build but I am afraid it won't work.
There are plenty of good builds out there if you know where to look.

I overheard people talking about these yesterday and 'husham' was mentioned. I'd like one for sky atlantic and fox.

11 Feb 16 #235
Husham's build is OK but does install about 130 add-ons, many of which you will want to uninstall as otherwise it'll make it slow as they'll be constantly updating.

I started with his full version and having stripped away all the Arabic add-ons etc use it to build new ones (by backup and restore).

Righto - if you haven't installed the Repo's that host the add-ons (or someone did it for you like this) then the add-ons won't auto-update, but other than that they should - or it's as easy as going into System, Settings, Add-ons, Available Updates, Update all.

As for a lack of memory, install Raw Maintenance from the SuperRepo repository, and run the 3 tools in there (thumbnails last though), cleans it up a treat if run weekly.

If you haven't got the Superrepo repository see if you have a Green Icon for 'Add-on Installer' under the Programs menu, as that makes installing new add-ons a breeze.

Best way to find instructions on everything Kodi is to search Google using the words 'SEO Michael' in the search and whatever add-on it is you want, as his pages give step-by-step instructions.

I've had my fire tv stick for about 7 months now and I installed kodi on it and at first it was running like a dream I had all the sky movies all the sports. I was genuinely chuffed and so glad I ditched sky I also put on showbox which I watch my movies on and everything was perfect that was the good part now for the bad. You do have to keep the fire tv stick upto date I haven't updated mine since I bought it now I can't get any live steams at all for my sports it's all I watch it for to be honest. I need to update my stick to get kodi running again but haven't had time. This stick will not replace sky virgin or bt but it will come close I'm not complaining I would rather look for links then pay for tv which I've done for years!! Another thing the stick fills up with memory really fast and can slow down the speed of kodi mine runs really slow I don't use it very often any more I have turned to watching my sport on mobdro on my phone or Cricfree.tv on the laptop much more reliable for me at the moment. Hopefully once I update my kodi up to date it will run smoothly again

Don't worry, the stick has 5Ghz WiFi, use that with a half decent signal and you'll be fine. Most buffering is down to the feeds themselves but 2.4Ghz doesn't help.

Make sure you have a half decent internet connection if your ordering one of these for the 'cheap' option as you will get a lot of buffering else as their wifi only.Better off spending an extra £10-£15 and getting a M8S with 2GB of ram.Anyone looking at any Kodi help - join my group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/488153121351032/

One of the best things about the FireStick is that you can power it off the USB port of the TV. Makes it even more compact in that you don't have to carry a charger as well.

Our modem router is upstairs far away from the main TV downstairs which has the Fire Stick connection. To get the best wi fi signal I used two home plugs, one connected upstairs to the modem router and one downstairs near the main TV. Then using a second old modem router I configured it to the strongest signal/channel and cabled it directly to the home plug downstairs and placed the modem/router directly under the fire stick at the back of the TV to pick up an excellent wi fi signal as we are on a standard snail broadband connection. It eliminated a lot of buffering.

Since purchasing the £25 misprice Fire Stick from Argos last August we tend to use the Fire Stick for entertainment more than watching normal terrestrial TV. I'm a sucker for old TV shows and movies and have nearly completed the comedy series Soap which was aired back in the late 70's. I find Genesis, Phoenix, Turks and Youtube provide all our TV programmes and movies galore. If you like sports try ZEM TV add on.

It will just work better. I've had a few builds on mine but if you use kodi regulalrly you will realise that you only use a few add-ons. Phoenix for the football, 1080 Movies, Specto Genesis & UK Turks for the TV shows etc. Have a think about all of the stuff on the build that you don't actually use...
MDL199

For watching movies and films you're far better off using Android apps like Cartoon HD, Popcorn Time and Movie HD (no, you won't find them in the playstore - just search using Google) on your phone or tablet and casting them on to your big tv. You can use Kodi on a Chromecast ( http://www.alphr.com/google/google-chromecast/1002065/chromecast-with-kodi-how-to-install-kodi-on-google-s-streaming ) but honestly the apps I listed work perfectly 99% of the time where as with Kodi you're lucky if even a third of links actually work at all.

Theres some that have better audio than others and some that handle video completely differently too even with the same gpu (allegedly). I would however highly recommend any of them, just look at reviews etc on amazon before buying. Its usually running games, not kodi that shows up which are good at what etc. Personally I use Beast 1.5 via Areswizard ... install PUBFILM its by far the best addon out there at the moment. I've been testing a game we're working on thats got a lot of gfx stuff going on and its just about OK on the firestick but rather nice on the m8s / m8 machines, even bettter on the s812 based console I've got ... but thats another story lol.

Defo worth a punt at this price. The stick is quite good and fast, I use it for the prime tv/movies and love it. As for Kodi fans waste of time and money if you just want it for that. The links for Kodi are unreliable unless you pay and even then it can be hit and miss. Stick the prime services cant go wrong

Wireless on these is terrible! Have one in our dining room which really struggles with the router being 2 floors above it. Nothing else in the house has difficulty, even the Gen1 NowTV box it replaced was absolutely fine. The FireTV stick frequently either disconnects or just gives up and throws up a random error about lack not having a strong enough signal.

Agreed anyone else say anything different they are lying.. I have my main billion quality router down stairs plus 2 x tp mini routers in front room of house plus one in loft basically I am more then covered for high signal wireless to devices Inc my boys tablets phone etc all perfect but this thing is poor.. Shame really as it's pretty good otherwise for what I use it for. I've tried the cheap boxes and they are crap. cant go wrong at this price, though i highly recommend getting the box. Much faster navigating through menu's.

Lots of streaming links work fine you just need to know where to look. You can pay a few £ a month for a real-debrid account, which basically gives you premium on popular filehosts.

Or even better, get a cheap seedbox and upload torrents to it, then stream directly from it without any problems

as more I read about this stick as more I think its cheap piece of plastic wich is not worth to pay especially if you have smart tv. I hope im wrong. I am still new bloke in this IPTV thing etc and was thinking to get one but ended up with MAG254. Device is loaded with 150 channels: SD, HD - whatever channel braodcasts quality orginally. And of course i had to pay for 1 year subscription worth £66. Less than 6 quid per month is not so bad.
Before that i had a go with Kodi pluggin installed on my Sony smart tv and was not impressed with the quality of the picture at all streamed over the internet. Cheap thing is cheap. I always think you cant expect good stuff for free all the time. it will be good only for very short and limited timeframe until its gone.
There is only 1 good thing for free - a cheese in the mousetrap.
You will need to spend hours finding a good worth attention pluggin to watch streamed live tv. Forget about HD quality live football. Dont see it comming. The best you will get is substandard picture.
Like some one posted before - want quality - buy subscription.

I bought one of these from Argos late on Monday afternoon for £34.99 and have just been on their online chat service to see if they will refund the difference in the price as it has dropped so soon after purchase as Amazon and other retailers have done if the price dropped with 28 days.

They refused and as I have thrown away some of the plastic bags and sticky plastic it came with I can not return it and get another at the lower price :disappointed:

I would recommend buying one from Amazon, Currys, Tesco or John Lewis which are all selling at or around this price now and they would all offer better customer service than Argos, I think, in cases such as this.

I've got a Chromecast but wish I'd got one of these.

I suppose the main difference is that the Fire Stick is a self-containing device and any apps are on the device, whereas a Chromecast requires the user to have a smartphone/tablet and the apps to be on the latter.

Chromecast is ok, I just (personally) feel I'd have got more value from this.

That said, I've got a Chromecast Audio plugged into some old speakers and that's a great device. So much so that I've still put off buying a Sonos - but that's another story!
