Insanely hot. How can anyone be snarky about this? An SSD-enabled PC with easily upgradeable RAM and HDD bays for £99? And just for good measure there's a 22-inch Full HD monitor thrown in too!
As a media PC this is just fine and will play pretty much anything. Use Edge for YouTube/iPlayer/Netflix etc and install Kodi and K-Lite Codec Pack for everything else. Fine for surfing the web and light office work, too. What's to complain about?

Good price for this, but just a personal gripe. It infuriates me when people start a post with 'went hot @ £.....' as if that means this should go even hotter. Nothing against the op, and this is a good deal, but in the end if people like the deal then they will vote with a click. By the way voted hot for the deal

I found the upgrade to Windows 10 ok, took less than 1hr to do from start to finish. The only thing I uninstalled before upgrading was McAfee. I then ran the upgrade tool (you can get the ISO here) to start the upgrade. Once Windows 10 installed and up and running then uninstall all the programs by ACER and anything you don't want. I found that cleaned things up nicely.
Not a bad little machine and amazing price, I've just picked up 2 from the Sainsbury's near me (Otley). Like another poster said it still had the £149 ticket but I got them to scan it and £99 came up. The 22" monitor it comes with is 1080p so the Ultra HD will only be an option if you plug it into a different monitor. You also don't get a keyboard and mouse but a remote which basically is a very small keyboard and mouse and a bit clunky to use. This would be useful if you put it in the lounge I guess, anything more serious then you will need the full sized ones. Also it comes with tons of bloatware which I'm currently uninstalling before the free upgrade to Windows 10. Icing on the cake (if you needed one based on the price) is you can pop a 2nd hard disk in (2.5 inch) to expand the storage so I've popped in a 320gb I had lying about.

I managed to pick one of these up on Saturday.
I hear what you say about bloatware and wonder how easy it is to remove it - any clues?
Hopefully removal of the bloatware will reduce the time that it takes to upgrade to Windows 10 - I've read that it can be a long drawn out process.
As for popping in a 2nd Hard Disk, I have read that it is fairly simple to take the thing apart in order to insert
a 2nd hard drive. Any recommendations as to what hard drive would be best? I am thinking of a 1Tb HD.
Thanks for any advice.

Bought 2 bundles from Bridgend Sainsburys on Saturday. 1 bundle had a faulty monitor ( discoloured screen on left side) So I had to return it to Newport (40miles away as they were the only ones left with stock )
Set it up last night and this monitor also has the same fault. It looks like the way they've packaged the Acer Revo ontop of the monitor, inside the bundled box. Its about a 4kg box putting pressure just on one side of the monitor.
Its quite hard to notice if you just had a single monitor, but comparing it with a working monitor its very noticeable discoloration on the left side. Very frustrating if you have a dual monitor set up.
Other than that the monitors are really awful, so much backlight bleeding, 80% of black is light grey, you'll have to tinker with the monitor settings and your graphic card settings to get it remotely 'good', even then its still way off anything decent.
Sainburys have given me the choice of returning both bundles for a refund, or I can send of the monitor to Acer for repair.
So I wouldn't feel so bad if you didn't manage to get this deal, unless you really didn't care about the quality of the monitors and just planned to sell them on.

Unfortunately only RAM 2Gb of RAM hinders this computer. The OS alone uses this with nothing left over for apps. I appreciate this can be upgraded, but then the price of this 'bargain' goes up. So, if you want a slow pc with a poor grade monitor then this is the perfect deal.

Upgrade your OS, not your RAM -
Junk Windoze and install any Linux flavour of your choice, try Antix or Mint, or even Puppy frugal with this lowish spec.
Then watch the comp fly!
Total "upgrading" cost = Zero/Zilch/Nada!
That's what I'd have done if I could have found this deal locally (he said enviously)

Yes I collected it from Brentwood at about 2.45. I have no idea if it was from the shop floor or stockroom as it had been reserved for me and had been placed behind the counter. My guess is it was in the stockroom. They would need to search on their computer for Acer Revo which probably tells them it's location within the store and also shows a national stock list.

12 Feb 16#142
Very helpful lady in the Chelmsford store this lunchtime checked stocks in other stores and rang Brentwood to reserve me one (two were showing in stock). Two were showing in my home town of Welwyn Garden City but she phoned them and they said they hadn't got them. Three were showing in Canvey Island at 2pm but very few other stores with stock (I was browsing the national list while she was on the phone). Letchworth were showing two and Watford one.

Thanks to the original poster, kimbo87, for this deal. After visiting a local store, I ventured out and found one nearby. Their stock system said that they had one, but they couldn't find it. After searching even more, it was discovered in the 'reserved' cage and was set aside for a customer. The ladies checked nearby stores and there was one left about 15 miles away and they called the store and asked for it to be put to one side.
I've unpacked it and will boot it up tomorrow. With a spare wireless keyboard, mouse and a ram upgrade, it should be great for basic tasks such as word processing, watching video files, surfing the Internet, etc.

Looking to shove this behind the tv to use as a big screen pc and media streamer. I want to use the spare slot to shove a decent sized hd in. Something between 2 and 4 Tb. What kind of drive should I be looking for? Spin speed, etc. Thanks in advance.
dinoyoshi to Siddas
11 Feb 16#87
I would suggest adding an extra 2gb for media streaming. SSD drives are good but pricy for large sizes. You could connect an external 2tb drive via usb 2 or 3 connection but make sure the external drive has fast access speeds
Tom_DD to Siddas
11 Feb 16#90
Biggest internal would be 2tb, and this it has to be laptop sized (2.5inch) so you will be limited to mostly 5400rpm. SSDs go up 1TB but are very expensive. This 2TB drive gets good reviews Samsung M9T 2TB 9.5mm SATA 2.5inch. Anything bigger would need to be external USB 3 (don't get USB 2 as too slow)
pc5020 to Siddas

I've just picked one up from Sainsburys Archer Road in Sheffield - it's still listed on the edge of the shelf at 149.99 but when I asked they scanned it and found it was 99.99. Interesting theory, but not very perceptive for a number of reasons. As I said, it wasn't a slight on the poster of the deal, but just an observation on the many things that are being written on here recently.
It's the same with people that post a deal and then start posting comments complaining that it's either gone cold or hasn't got the heat they think it deserves. We're all in the same boat, we post deals hoping that it's a deal and will benefit others. Some will agree, others won't. It's not personal, it's just individual opinions. I think there are certain people who get a little bit precious if their deal isn't seen as amazing and go off on one. Life is too short at the end of the day

I have the I3 one, it's not too good until you put an ssd hard drive in it and then it's so fast, would recommend doing the same with this one!

This is a great deal if you can get it. I have just taken a look in Sainsburys Thornhill, Cardiff and they do not have any there. Shame as I do need a new monitor and the PC would be ok as well.

As a media PC this is just fine and will play pretty much anything. Use Edge for YouTube/iPlayer/Netflix etc and install Kodi and K-Lite Codec Pack for everything else. Fine for surfing the web and light office work, too. What's to complain about?

In terms of HDD this should work fine Samsung 1TB 2.5 inch 5400RPM SATA II Hard Disk Drive
I did think of upgrading the memory but at the moment can't see the point.
Probably just pi****d they didn't manage to find one

22" inch K22 monitor cost £75 in ebuyer.
So £255 worth.
You might need to extend your your offer a bit. :P
One left in High Wycombe as of 10am this morning (Saturday)
I've unpacked it and will boot it up tomorrow. With a spare wireless keyboard, mouse and a ram upgrade, it should be great for basic tasks such as word processing, watching video files, surfing the Internet, etc.
Or if one that does is too far away, try asking the manager to see if you can get them to drop it off in a nearer store to you.
Thanks anyway for the heads-up.
See many laptop deals posted, very few desktops, pity.
Manager kindly told he's willing to drive from Ipswich store to Colchester store so i can pick it up which is closer for me to drive to.
No real need for it for me, so someone can enjoy it.
From deals I see posted on HUKD, it must be luvverly to live in the North East or London, errr, except for having to live in those places!

Looks like it's THIS one, £200 at Amazon. Note this is an odd/discontinued model, it has some upgradeability such as adding another hard drive (but not 2 extra hard drives despite having the space, it doesn't have the 3rd sata connector apparently)
