Poster says....what are the specs please. Perhaps they had hoped people on here would be helpful. How naive. :smirk:
And you can even install windows (with a bit of work).https://www.reddit.com/r/chrultrabook/new/.

As it's an intel based chromebook, you can slap a linux distro on to it.

Yet that was still a prime example of how ....not to be. Maybe...*gasp* they saw this deal and thus were not on Google, so thought they'd check the specs for a quicker and much more accurate result from a human being rather than a load of (often useless) blind algorithms. Outrageous suggestion to some, I realise...

According to Sainsburys there's only one store in the country with any stock - in Basingstoke - and after spending 20 mins on the 'phone - they actually don't have any.
Any more details on the £150 laptops would be appreciated!

Google has its own music service Play Music for £9.99 you get unlimited access to 30 million + songs and there's an even an offline mode so you can listen wherever, and can also can add up to 50,000 songs to Google Play Music from your personal music collection using Google Play Music for Chrome or Music Manager (up to 300MB per song). Sounds good enough to ditch ITunes?

20 seconds to post a question.
1-120 minutes to get a reply.
Or
60 seconds to type model into Google.
If it was an obscure item or a very rare model then I'd agree with you. People don't need to research in a library anymore or find the local elder for information on ancient tradition.

Voted hot, however so many muppets cannot google the specs, it beggars belief. can the same people actually surf the internet without a child's help? Oh well thank god it's cyber space and I do not have to deal with them in real life. Oh the irony of the simpleton :-P

you can actually back up, stream and listen to your own music offline for free, it's only if you want music streaming like Spotify that you need to pay. tons better than iTunes IMO. and get 5 other friends together and join google music family plan for £15 pm between u

Pure Goose Chase deal as no way a new one of these is being sold for £68. This has the Haswell Celeron which runs faster that the current Chromebooks Celerons costing £150+.
Great Chromebook though. Fast and well built (though 4gb would have been nice).

He would have been quicker to Google it in the first place. Why should someone else have to Google it, and the cut and paste the info for him? And no, it doesn't affect the ability to leave comments at all. Any sensible person would have Googled for it first and then asked a question or two if they were unsure about a particular aspect. In those circumstances, people are more than willing to help in my experience.

It's a deals forum, not a technical support forum. The second result in google is a trusted review, which is far more useful than a bunch of terse specs or the gobbledygook that the asker feared they would get. Always worth googling first and then asking later if things are not clear.

Yes, searching first, asking for clarification later is always good.
But as you say, this is a forum, not just a deals notice board. There has been a lot of very useful, first-hand knowledge shared on here, practical and technical, and some of the tangents have been very interesting and informative.
I welcome the forum aspect in its entirety. And google can often spit out a list of meaningless drivel.
Please people, search then ask, but don't stop others sharing experience.

I have had my C720 for nearly 2 years now, paid £100 more than this price for it, and that was on offer at the time!.
Pros:
It is still amazing, open the lid and the chrome OS is on and ready to go literally instantly, battery life is phenomenal and I have never found a laptop or netbook that comes close.
Cons:
Touchpad feels odd to use but you get used to it - acer have not used the best parts for this.
The keyboard can leave a funny line on the screen (which rubs off), to solve this I leave a screen cleaning cloth on the keyboard when I close the lid.
Chrome OS is not going to be for everyone, but it covers probably 95% of peoples computing needs, what you can't do is game. I highly recommend you give it a go, at this price it would be silly not to at least give it a try.

There is, can't remember the link to check, but they weren't "short" dates, I think they were about 3-4 years away when I got mine, they don't keel over completely, they just don't get any more updates - I think you can re-flash them with linux

Support for my Acer C720 runs out in November 2018
Opening post
l already have one otherwise I'd have snapped it up.
Possibly store specific though - I saw this behind the Electrical Customer Services desk at the back of the Harrogate store.
Also some Asus and HP laptops at £150 but no idea of spec though.
