Just picked up the cool white version this morning, actually not too much of a striking white as I thought, more a neutral white colour. I would recommend over the old warm white type as the output seems to be brighter.

Bought these last time on offer very good light output BUT only when used in pendant fittings that cast the light down.
Tried two in both horizontal and upward facing fittings very disappointing light output - also the cool light ones are far better.

I received this offer yesterday in the post, the voucher codes were at the bottom on a card, but you can either use them online or take them instore.

Switched my house out for these after a rewire and the electricity savings make these pay for them selves.

Bought these warm white last time they were in stock. Very impressed with them, good light output about 60W equivalent.

I spent £41.50 on a 10pack of LED bayonet cap light bulbs a few days ago on Amazon...
Mine are dimmable though, not that I'll ever use that :disappointed:

Are the cool white 4000k more like daylight bulbs you can get not the really cold blue led types?

Have replaced all CFLs with these or the E27 version and very satisfied. Found a rogue 100W in the spare bedroom which I've kept to feel nostalgic about in a couple of decades.

Any recommendations for dimmable GU10s? I've got about 16 of them and would like to eradicate.

Very good quality and the light produced when compared to some SMD lights purchased on the cheap from eBay is so much better.

Slightly off topic, can anyone recommend an LED GU10 replacement for 11W long neck CFL's?

I see plenty of standard length LED GU10's at a reasonable cost so also wonder if anyone has come up with an adapter?

It's because they're usually more directional, if pointing where you need light less lumens are wasted elsewhere. Pointed wrong and they'll be worse.

Particularly pronounced with LED tube fittings, just replaced a 36W fluorescent with an 18W LED. On paper I'm getting 20+% less lumens but its sending 2/3 of them down were we want them and is noticeably brighter.

Got both cool and warm white a few weeks back.
Put cool white in the hallways etc.. it's a very white light, almost morgue like.
Put warm white in the bedrooms as it's much easier on the eye, however a little less brighter than the cool white

the codes are general codes but they only work with accounts that received the promo through the post and are not valid on other accounts. I mainly shop at toolstation they have the same offer on but the bulbs only have a 2 year warranty albeit a 25000 hour ave life span, they have the 75w equivalent filament bulbs for £7 each which is what I would be buying right now if I only needed an odd bulb. 100w bulbs do exist but to get any quality they are around£20.

The codes are there, people can give it a go and see if it works for them. If it does they save a bit of money, if it doesn't so be it.

The warm white are brighter (whichever way they are pointing) and slightly more yellow (not more orange) than a 60w tungsten.
Not unpleasant, just slightly different.

Poundland have some LED bulbs, got a couple of 5 watt ones, really good so far, company is called electrek

When the specs of an LED bulb don't mention the CRI, theres usually a reason. No idea what CRI means? Ignorance is bliss.

was reading through this with great interest until i suddenly remembered i got loads of the energy saving bulbs still stashed in the cupboard unused that i got for free from british gas many years ago when they sent out a few boxes to every household.

I bought about 7 from poundland about a month ago and so far they have been great but obviously I can't comment on long term reliability. Just a word of warning they are not dimmable do not like being in touch lamps either.
I also bought a 5 pack of these Screwfix led's a few weeks ago because I needed the large screw fitting and the ones poundland sell are only bayonet cap or small screw fitting and the screwfix ones are higher wattage and also much brighter more like a traditional 80w bulb.

Just put mine in a 3 tier light fitting, very nice.

Depends on the LED tube, you need to read the tube description very carefully. You always replace the starter but that just pops out easily. Some can be just plugged in but they're less efficient, most need rewiring to bypass the ballast and remove the smoothing capacitor. Not particularly hard but also something you're supposed to leave to a qualified electrician. Single ended tubes look harder to rewire than double ended, my double ended one took 1 moved wire and disconnected capacitor.

If you aren't confident the direct replacements are 10-20% less efficient but need no wiring work. Mark any converted fitting, you can't put a fluorescent in a converted fitting without destroying the tube. Possibly explosively...

I got 10 of these, 5 cool white and five warm white and have to say they are excellent. The warm white are better in bedroom and living areas and the light is very much like a traditional bulb but probably closer to 80w than 60w, very impressed with the light output. The cool white are great in the kitchen, bathroom and garage. Absolute bargain at this price and highly recommended.

New store opened recently in Welling (South East London) ,having 10% off everything , i think until this weekend ..
