I was in the new Lidl on MacAlpine Road, Dundee and spotted the Aberdoyle Scottish Mature coloured cheddar for £0.95 for 350g which is the cheapest I've seen mature cheddar in ages.
I've not tried it yet but for that price worth a try.
I'm unsure if it's national though, but if your shopping there it's worth a look.
The other strengths of the same cheese were £1.59 I think.

If it's a brand new Lidl, this might be an opening offer.
Unfortunately my local doesn't even sell this brand.

yes the milk produced by cows in Carlisle is infinitely better than those in Dumfries...

no idea why cheese gets coloured....but at just over £3 a kilo for a mature cheddar I'd ignore the falseness !
