I just moved to Life a week ago and they are starting to send 4G sims to people that are already members so it's only a matter of time, I should receive mine in about 2 months because I just registered (they send the sims in the order people registered)

So far I had no issues with them(but I have nothing to compare them with, I've been on vectone till now - the worst network ever!), very good customer support, based in the UK; unlike vectone, the worst network ever

Did I mention Vectone is the absolute worst network ever?

I was in the same boat having had the same number on T- Mobile for the last 12 years, finally bit the bullet and called them up for my PAC code; the guy on the end of the phone (EE customer services) actually told me to go for the Life mobile deal lol as it wass better than anything they could match for the price :-D

It's not just that. Not only are they not the best price, I left as their 3G was terrible and their 4G was laughable.

They would state they operate differently to these other companies, but having a reoccurring goody bag really is no different.

I've been on this a few months now after Three did the bait'n'switch on tethering. This mob have been pretty good, the connection consistency and speed seems ok even if it's only 3G; I'm using it in a Samsung tablet for mobile data and navigation around London. I've never had the problems I had with Three (at least so far). Tethering works reliably too.

This is the unknown right now. Rumours have said those already with Life will see prices stay the same, but that could be BS. I moved over last month from Virgin Mobile - despite being on the same network (EE) I seem to get a better signal and faster downloads. Customer services great - ported number with ease. Can I port my old number onto your network?

You may port an old number to your LIFE Mobile account. To do so, please contact our Customer Services team at [email protected] or call free on 500 from your mobile phone or 0800 0791133 from another phone. You will need to provide your Porting Authorisation Code (PAC) from your previous network as well as the old mobile number you wish to port. Please note that your old mobile number must still be active in order for us to complete the port to your LIFE Mobile account.

Been with Life for 3 months, decent speed - no 4g here anyway - better reception than 3 in the South East and Nottinghamshire and The two times I have rang customer services the call was answered by a UK call centre within a few minutes and very helpful. I started off on the £6 tarif but 1gb wasn't enough. The text me several days before they take payment which is great and I really appreciate the £1 cap. The only complaint is that they don't have a app to check balance. Hope this helps.

I'm currently on an Unlimited calls and texts and 2GB data package for £15.98 a month on EE which expires on 20 March 2016. I rang them today to see if they could offer me a better deal quoting the Life Mobile offer and the best they could offer was £12.99 a month for 1000 mins and 2GB data. The most I wanted to pay was £10 per month so looking at switching to the Life Mobile network.

The woman on the phone at EE told me I could not port my number over to Life from EE as it was on the same network and the code issued is for porting out to a different network and if I used it to port within the same network it would not work. Is this true? Has anyone moved from EE to Life?

Just moved the other half onto this and EE comes up on her phone as the network.

Be slightly aware, we paid the first £10 online 2 months ago when registering and for several reasons didn't get around to putting this new Life sim into the phone straight away. We (I) didn't read the deal print and I assumed (you shouldn't apparently!! ;0) ) that it would have to be activated, but it works straight away and so got charged for first month, and then a second via DD whilst not actually having used it / or even putting the sim in the phone. Our fault as didn't read / forgot the small print, but worth noting.

The other half called Life and they refused to give any credit back, even as a gesture of goodwill which I think is a bit unkind, but to the letter or their terms.

Good deal though and heat added, plus there's a £6, 1500 min and 1GB of data through uswitch too.

It's quite risk free compared to signing up to a 12/24 month contract. You sign up, if it's terrible you leave after a month.

My own experience with signing up for them a week or so ago. I got everything in the post in reasonable time, phone call to CS was answered quickly and by UK call center (admittedly the sound quality was crap, as could hear the operators colleague better than him). They could explain the initial set up process a bit better, but other than that it's been relatively painless, and that includes porting my number over to them.

Amazing eh?

Just a word of warning if anyone wishes to keep their number switching from the EE network. Mine took FOURTEEN days to properly switch, albeit it was over Xmas but I was promised it would happen before Xmas day. Rang up and they said there was a problem with their engineers, promised again that i would be up and running on the 30th or 31st at the latest. Still no go, lost Ali service over the New Year so no txts from or to family and friends. Couldn't get hold if anyone on the 2nd but running on the 4th.

Gave PAC code on 21st Dec, up and running 4th Jan.

Other than that, no problems.

That is the only thing I don't like so far. Given they are backed by EE, how hard would it be to just produce a basic app for iOS and Android. Or even be able to check via calling automated number.

My number port was also handled quickly and after I rated them average in terms of recommending them to a friend, they called me and asked for more info, explained 4g/app was coming and offered to send me a 4G sim when it launches.

Been with Life for about 6 months and fairly happy with them. Few pointers:

1) Balance checking: Last I looked, and had this confirmed by customer services, there is no way to check your balance other than logging onto their website or asking a CS rep! Even when you do log on, the balance online is normally 24 hours out of date. I was promised that an android app was in the works.

2) Life mobile is owned by EE who bought them from phones4. Not sure why this matters but people do seem to get hung up about the provenance of MVNOs.

3) I can't for the life of me get them to remove the adult content filter from my account. I have asked 3 times and still can't browse certain sites. It's probably good for me.

4) Porting took an age. My other half's went through as expected in a couple of days but mine took multiple phone calls.

Also you can set a spending cap from as little as £1.[/quote]

Thanks OP - just ordered this, as my O2 contract runs out next week. O2 have told me they have unlocked my phone and I just need to put in the new non O2 SIM into the phone and then connect to itunes and follow the instructions. Hope this works and the number porting - 02 texted me my PAC earlier this evening.
Hard to get excited about mobile stuff (but did enjoy negotiating £336 off my virgin LL and BB yearly cost last week!) but looking forward to learning about "tethering" - does this mean I'll need a dongle to use the data allowance on my laptop?

I'm already with life mobile paying 12 quid for 3000 mins/unlimited texts/3GB. Can I still use uswitch to pay 10 quid for the exact same deal?
Thar to CiA
16 Feb 16 #128
If you want to keep your number, I would think you would have to port out and back in to get the deal.
Shannon_Jayne to CiA
16 Feb 16 #129
Give them a call and see if they can do something?
Splashmo to CiA
16 Feb 16 #130

Basically, as Shannon says, just ring them.
mhus1 to CiA
16 Feb 16 1 #132
I can confirm after having just rung them and getting them to change me over, that yes you can ring and they will price match uswitch and move you over to the new tariff at the start of your next contract month.

Did anyone receive a dispatch e-mail before their SIM arrived?

It has been 2 days since I ordered but I haven't received a dispatch e-mail or the SIM.
Splashmo to MartH
17 Feb 16 #137
I never received a dispatch email. Life need to sort this out, as it's inferred that you should get one, and it will contain your login details as well.

Anyway, check this post for what to expect.

maybe they have huge demand.

what's the speed of 3g?
Because now I'm with Giffgaff and speeds are terrible
Splashmo to Ricky_PT
17 Feb 16 1 #141
It will obviously depend on your area, but.....

http://i.imgur.com/etB3L8L.png

Same location, just different days apart. In several tests Life was considerably quicker than GiffGaff. The main reason I was prompted to leave them this month was their terrible data speeds.
Marker
17 Feb 16 #140
The welcome email tends to come a couple of days after you receive the SIM -- this was the case for both of the £6/pm SIMs I ordered recently.
This may be because your SIM gets auto activated 2 or 3 days after they dispatch it, so by the time you receive the welcome email your SIM will be useable straight away.

I was with virgin mobile on unlimited everything for £15 but I never used the data so I've just ordered this sim deal  Thanks for posting
Scotty Boy
17 Feb 16 #143
Anybody know if this deal includes unlimited landline calls as well or is it just mobile-to-mobile calls only? Just curious, as I can't see anything in the small print to confirm either way - either that or I need to buy a new pair of glasses!
JamesDoh1980 to Scotty Boy

The 3000 minutes are to any standard UK mobile number or landline starting 01,02 or 03.

17 Feb 16 #145
Could someone outline the porting process with LIFE?

I have a PAC but is it automated at the time of ordering or do you have to call them after your line is connected?

Thanks
badgerrules to crazyp
17 Feb 16 #146
From what I can gather, you get your sim from life mobile, activate it and then contact them with your pac.
sabz786 to crazyp
17 Feb 16 #147
Once you have received the SIM and your account has been set up (usually 1-2 days after the SIM arrives for security) - you can call them and they will take your PAC code. The transfer takes around 2 days

Was just going to go for the £6 deal, but I have just found out that my contact (12 month) was extended without me knowing it when I went in to get my SIM card chopped down for a new phone (didn't need it though as it was pre-scored). I was offered another 500Mb, even though I don't use any data and didn't really want it and it seems that it was done on the sly then......

quick question if anyone knows, as i've just ordered this.

currently on tesco mobile pay monthly rolling one month contract, and i've just got PAC code from them. once the sim arrives and i transfer my number does this end the tesco contract? or is it necessary to contact them?

thanks.

How long do people think this deal will last for? Life website says 11.95. I was about to sign up last night but I have 27 quid left on giffgaff as I topped up when going abroad (in the end didn't need much as found wifi). So I have a couple more months on ultra s l o wwwww Giffgaffffffff left :disappointed: I also notice Life want 10 quid up front so can't just order a sim ready to test? Don't like that.... James

You have to go through Uswitch to get the deal. If you go through the Life Mobile website directly you'll see their standard prices.

the network (calls+data) stop working for a few minutes/ hours every other day. People try to call but they get a message saying you are can't be reached althought you have full signal and are sitting right next to the caller. The worst was once I had no signal for 6 hours while at work. Customer service is completely useless, they will tell you to do useless actions like turning your phone on and off to get decent download speeds.
They didn't give me the bonus for moving to their network(the first sim they sent me was broken) so I called to tell them I am entitled to the bonus, they said a manager would call me, I followed up on the matter with about 7 calls during 3 months....no call from manager, no bonus)

received my sim on friday but it does not work in my iPhone phoned them up and been told it can take up to 48hours to connect anybody else had any similar issues. I get signal bars but no 3g symbol and cannot make any calls surely it should just work right?
Splashmo to Zool
21 Feb 16 #163
It takes a couple of days after receiving it before it activates. It is mentioned in the welcome letter that the SIMs are delayed activated for security purposes. I think it mentioned 2 days from dispatch email....which I never got.

They could do with streamlining the intro process a bit, but it will turn on. I would say Monday at the latest.

22 Feb 16 1 #165
All smooth changeover for me - I put the new SIM in this morning, instant confirmation of service, and the 3G seems as fast if not better than the 3G/4G I was getting from o2.

Rang up the free 500 number and first impressions great - started porting my number, made my spending cap £1 and she even asked her supervisor about "tethering" for me, which I'd only heard about on this thread before.

All in all a great first impression so I hope it continues - was actually really fed up with being forced onto Live chat by o2, a massive company who always seems to have a waiting time to actually speak to you of "30 minutes" . Another success through HUKD, pleased to say

Thanks for that, i have seen the other deal, but 3gb data will be more than enough for me, I was paying £8 a month so going to £10 wasn't a big deal.

Not a smooth switch for me unfortunately. Ported from GiffGaff to Life. Called on Sat 27th and they said 2 working days, so end of Tuesday. On Tuesday my old sim went dead so i swapped and found i could make calls but not receive them.

CS were good but only said that it was a split port and that it would take up to 5 days to sort. Still waiting. Not great.

One day port for me too from 3. Also the signal is better (5 on an iPhone) despite it being a "patchy" EE area and the 3G I am getting is double the 4G I was getting from 3 (about 19 down, 4 up). Seems excellent

5 Mar 16 #171
I was lazy and just emailed them my PAC code etc as I wasn't in a rush. Emailed them Friday, and it was ported Monday morning.

Also, just called them to upgrade to the £13.45/6GB deal, and got through in about 5 seconds to UK call centre.

A couple of mins later upgrade made and cap reduced.
