Is this why it's called a "flat-to-wall" bracket, by any chance? It's quite specific.
If you don't want a flat-to-wall bracket, then buy a different, non-flat-to-wall bracket.
As flat-to-wall brackets go, I'd say this was pretty well priced and you'd be hard pushed to find another comparable flat-to-wall bracket significantly cheaper.

Good value, as others say you cables need to connect flat and not stick out of the back. Although a square piece of MDF can lift this further from the wall.

Yep- standard 100mm VESA mount on that monitor so this will be fine. Ordered a couple myself.
