This is a lovely little city break to Barcelona in March, 8-10th March From Stanstead. The hotel I've picked is a fantastic rated one within walking distance to the Sagrada Familia the Leonardo Boutique Hotel. You could change the hotel for one a little further out but I think this represents great value for money and you don't want to spend your time getting to and from your hotel to Barcelona city with the time you have.

Nice place shame about the pickpockets, kids with clipboards (scam), fake police wanting to see your passport, blokes throwing "bird poop" on your jacket, beach thieves, ladies of the night grabbing your trousers, etc.

Hotel is in a good location to get into city centre, 4 stops on metro probably 15-20 minutes. However having recently visited it is better value to stay a couple nights more for approximately £50 more.

Another one to be aware of is when you lock your car, make sure it gets locked. Our bags were stolen from our car after they blocked the locking signal from the key with an RFID transmitter. So, check your doors twice!

All that happened to you in one visit? I went there for a long weekend and explored a lot of the city and only noticed one elderly woman with a dog begging sat on the floor near the Ramblas. Let's face it you could see that in most big cities?

I had them all, except the bird poo and fake police, in three days. Actually two days, I spent last day on tourist bus pretty much where it felt safe.
Being very British (ivory white) looking and on my own didn't help, but it was rough and I had no idea it was like that. This was a few a few years ago now, but I would warn anyone to look up the scams as its well known to be just about the worst in Europe for such things.

Where? I can't see anything with BA anywhere near that price cheapest I can see is from £104pp for 2 nights and that doesn't include airport transportation and costs and the hotel is nowhere near as nice, the one I can see at £104 is 28km away from Barcelona and is in November! I guess if you need luggage and were going to pay for it fair enough but luggage for 2 or 4 nights, really??

If you're heading out to Barcelona soon please be aware of "bird poo" scam which cost me my bag!! We were walking towards Sagrada Familia when we were suddenly covered in bird droppings. Jogger appears alongside offering help as lives right there, goes in for water and tissues. We put bags down with coats over them and proceeded to clean each other up. One minute he's there chatting, next he's gone and so had my bag, from under my coat, under my feet!! Incidentally the bird poo is melted chocolate. Met other folk in police station with same experience. Please beware!!
