It's across the board largely. As the mobile companies keep merging/buying each other out there is now less competition in the marketplace so prices have been rising. The price of the tariff I am on (for new users) has increased by 98% over the last 18months.
It's just a shame that the network coverage hasn't increased by the same.

I'm still on a tariff which was supposedly retired over a year ago, and those on it were told to sign up to a new tariff or three will give the 30 day notice.
I'm quite pleased with £15 a month truly unlimited data, truly unlimited tethering, 1000 anyone mins, 2000 three to three minutes.

isn't it free abroad to 3 customers only? I still think the BT mobile deal for £16.99 a month is better as it included 20gb of data and unlimited minutes, not the 12 and 200 here. obviously if you are a BT line customer already.

As for network coverage, most of where I live is 4G. Im also on Three. I get a solid 20Mb/s almost everywhere and in other areas I get 70Mb/s+

Depends on your usage scenario I guess, I get 4g everywhere but turn it off to save battery.
With Three I get 10-15mbps on 3g alone which is more than enough for me. If i got less than 1mbps on 3g like my mate on o2 does i'd probably use 4g.
For most people 4g is just a marketing gimmick, especially on contracts with a low data allowance.

The reference to network coverage was aimed at all of the operators, not just three. I too have found three to be the best out of the big players but there are still significant gaps across the country and large dead zones in Scotland for three where Vodafone (spits on floor) is still ok.

How much data do you really use? If you are a low data user then you are probably paying more (for your usage) and Three will not contact unless you start consuming a lot more data - consistently- does make business sense.
I was on the same tarrif, then calculated my real usage cost, to find out I am paying more almost every month ( compared to their PAYG 321 sim). So left them as soon as I found a 'better deal'.

They finally offered 8GB data with tethering, unlimited mins and texts on a 1 month rolling contract for £16pm. Not quite The One Plan but still pretty decent.
The key is to make them believe that you are calling to cancel.

Got the dreaded letter and have switched to BT for £16 per month as already a BT customer. Unlimited mins/texts and 20gb of data. Boom. Plus reception for me so far has been better on BT than it was on 3 so a win win. Just can't stop the 3 CS calls now though lol they will lose a lot of customers.

8 Feb 16#133
It's only a good price after quidco, but not bad.
Downside is, no 2g service to fall back on. If you never travel its great, but even parts of my local park suffer from low 3g signal on three, where as on BT(EE) its full 4g, with 2g to back out onto in rural areas.
Plus you have to deal with awful Indian customer service teams to try and cancel. You will spend half of your life trying to get them to cancel at the end of the 12 months.

You should have asked for your PAC code.. this is what they offered me so asked for mine. 3 days later they called me about why i was leaving and soon offered the unlim mins/txt and 8G data for £13 or unlim mins/txt/data with 12G tethering for £20, both on 1 month rolling contracts.

Hi bma1445
When did you get this deal? Just asked for my PAC as they refuse to budge with any of their current tariffs. The best they would offer was 8gb data, unlimited texts/minutes for £17- they said for normal customers this was a £10 saving as it was normally £27 so it was a good offer for me and they were doing me a favour by offering it to me! , to which I then pointed out the AYCE data with 200 minutes ( more than enough for me) and unlimited texts. This was for a SIM only as I am at the upgrade stage and the original tariff I was on is no longer valid.
Been with them for years and to have no incentive to stay with them, despite having 2 other contracts with them, is a slap in the face.
I remember when they first started, I was offered discounts galore.

All the comments about people jumping ship once the one plan was taken off. Why?
Which network did you go to that could offer you unlimited internet and texts for £20 a month with 12gb tethering?
I've been with 3 for 6 years with no signal issues. I live about 5 mile from Newcastle upon Tyne in a small town and currently have full 4G signal and a speed test came in at 39 Mbps which is more than enough.
If another network was to offer unlimited internet with some tethering then I might switch but at the moment that's not going to happen.

Can anyone tell me what would be the best way of getting this deal when already on 3? It's for my mother, she's currently on AYCE Data but at £20 and she only uses 1-2 GB at most. Need to keep her number.
I'm thinking the only way to do that would be to buy this deal separately, and then get a PAC code from 3 for her existing contract and use it on a GiffGaff SIM. Then get a PAC off GiffGaff and give that to 3 for the new contract.
Found a theoretical way to get AYCE everything (apart from the 12GB tethering cap) for £17/month. Negotiate them down to £12/month for 4GB data, AYCE calls & texts - this is doable, I did it at the weekend. Then you can buy their £5 AYCE data add on every month you need it. (First month, you have to buy their 8GB add on I believe, but it appears once you've done that you can buy AYCE data add ons). Correct me if I'm wrong..

if Cuddykid is correct then couldnt we take out the 12 month 1GB 600 minutes contract at £11pm which Quidco are also offering £30 cashback on
With the AYCE add on at £5 per month this would bring the monthly cost to £16 and if cashback is paid would be effectively £14.83 per month
Is the AYCE add on definitely available on all 12 month contracts?
Also if all minutes are used can the remaining data be converted into minutes somehow?

andyroochoo
9 Feb 16#213
Three claim the reason why they stopped the one plan wasnt because of people using insane amounts of data, it was two fold.
1. Customers were identified as using the tethering for business purposes.
2. Increase the ARPU to pay for network upgrades.
You cant abuse an unlimited service either! if that was the case I would have had my account cancelled after I regularly go over 1000GB a month. Not a peep from three. They have admitted that they simply don't have the manpower to go through each and every bill so decided to can the one plan instead.

good luck to anyone signing up with 3 ! that's all I have to say
It's £2.50 a month per inbox and you get a proper Microsoft Exchange account (50gb Inbox) which works great with Outlook on the desktop, or the iPhones native Mail app.
In addition you will be able to sync your calendar and contacts with your phone too.
I'm using Microsoft's Exchange Online to host the email for my personal domain, we also use it in the office too. No problems at all on Three. However the problem is with who ever is currently providing your email, not Three from what you have said.

1. It's MUCH easier to rinse the connection when tethering compared to actually consuming data whilst out and about, especially as many people were using it as a permanent broadband connection for their homes.
2. AYCE was a pre-4G thing, and 4G also enabled significantly faster transfer speeds, further making point 1 happen as people stuck on slower ADSL speeds switched.
I didn't sign up to AYCE looking at it as a challenge/goal, I liked that I could use normally and not have to worry about hitting a hard limit. Other people saw the AYCE as some sort of goading in to downloading as much as possible. Seriously, I don't break 60GB on an average month on my 80MB fibre, almost 200GB over 4G is just crazy.

9 Feb 16#232
Signing a contract with 3 is easy but coming off that contract is not. They will just not let you go. I got stuck in a contract with them, had no signal at home and they would not let me come off that contract, kept on telling me to take out the sim card and clean it or restart the phone etc. At the end of that long year, they would not let me cancel my unlimited data plan for £15 per month (which would have been wonderful if it had ever worked properly). I reminded them of my year-long battle to get a decent signal but they would not hear of it. It was an uphill struggle to cancel that contract. This happened quite recently and their service has improved no end. It used to be 100 times worse. They started the ignoble tradition of blatantly bad customer service in mobile telecom industry and now IDmobile are carrying the torch. This company should have been nipped in the bud. I am really tempted by this deal for my wife but am afraid of 3 and their bad customer service. Once bitten twice...

9 Feb 16#233
that's a pretty stupid comment... there's no such thing as 'abuse' where it comes to contracts or data. there's just a line at which the company makes an unacceptable amount of money on your relationship. that's for them to sort out and it's certainly not for you to arbitrate on the company's behalf. what exactly is a 'fair' amount of data? stop being such a ninny and just get on with your own business. and stop imagining that the one plan got ditched because someone used it as their home broadband... it got ditched because more and more people thought it was a good deal and they now have enough loyalty to start putting limits on it...

Call one to the number on the letter - complete waste of time just offered the deals off website and told nothing they can do. They denied the offers others were getting were real.
Call two Retentions - Got put through to retentions after asking for PAC code. Got offered a few deals including one that was unlimited min and texts 8gb data for £16. I need more data and they wouldn't budge. Told if I want my PAC I need to call original number
Call 3 number on letter - Loooooong phone call with some dude telling me how much he wants to help but the system wont let him. Just kept repeating the deal I want and asking for PAC code. Eventually he relents and gives code.
2 days later got a call from a nice lady who said this was a final reach out from 3 to not lose me. Offered me Unlimited min, txt and data (12gb tethering) for £20. I accepted and have gone away a happy camper.
On a side note she also confirmed if I need more tethering in a month I can buy a 12GB increase for £5 once a month. I haven';t heard anyone else mention this before. If you have a 4gb limited its £5 for an extra 4GB

I just had a 57 minute marathon call (I was put on hold for 10 mins, I'm sure he had a tea-break) with an Indian called 'Chris'....the best I got was 8gb Data, unlimited calls/texts, 30 day rolling contract, £18. I accepted it as it serves my needs, but should anything better pop up, I'm off.

I'm not sure if this meets all your needs but
£20 Unlimited Min, Unlimited Texts 20GB of data inc. tethering AND 12 months free Netflix, spotify NowTV or 6 months Skysports with Vodafone. As your moving provider I assume you can also get some Quidco or Topcash refund too
I only seem to read bad comments about Vodafone...........Three have been a great network overall.

How has this reached 1000 degrees? No disrespect to the poster, but this deal is not good in context. 6 months ago this price was for the unlimited plan. Quidco is not guaranteed and a deal should not get popular because of a Quidco payment.

I took the ayce everything for £20 too (still smarting at £6 a month more and losing unlimited tethering). I knew the One Plan would not last forever. Has anyone got a retention deal on the 600mins AYCE data (12GB tethering)? I'd be amazed if I use 300+ mins and unlimited is completely wasted on me. Retentions said they could only offer the normal price on the 600 min tariff.

It wasn't that hard to get it.Daughters Contract was up , was paying £29 for AYCE everything on a One plan(with a phone included), but didn't want to be paying that as I had bought her a new phone separately,so requested PAC via chat, after a short conversation in chat, as they did not have many other decent offers, despite having another phone contract and also a separate data contract.
I got offered the £12 deal, the £17 deal of unlimited calls and texts, with 8Gb of data, and also the £20 AYCE everything.
Left it a few weeks , as I have been with 3 since day 1 and know there offers usually change alot in a short space, but after a while and seeing the others on AYCE plans having a big hike in their prices decided to go back into chat and take it.
There really isnt many other providers who can offer the same as 3 are, even with the price hike.Having been with them since the beginning, I have always found them one of the easiest to deal with, have the best offers, and also found I have had better signal than any other provider, having also a mobile with Vodafone, and a work phone with O2- 3 has always to me been the best- Although I did get myself a good deal with Vodafone in the last month, but I only got 6GB data as mine is usually connected to Wifi alot, and I never have hit over 3Gb of data with it.

It's a very good bonus compared to other providers, but it is a limited set of countries, and certainly not all European countries, so best to check before you go roaming abroad thinking it is free everywhere outside the UK, because it's not.
have some heat.
It's just a shame that the network coverage hasn't increased by the same.
"Price includes £5 monthly discount for paying by a recurring method, such as direct debit. Each May, your Monthly Charge will increase by an amount up to the January RPI rate (published each February), unless you're on a SIM plan."
Less than a week ago I signed up with 3 on a PAYG basis for 20£ with similar terms.
As I work abroad about 60-70% of my time across Scanda, the SIM card will be perfect for my needs. But please note, 4g is only available in the UK. Outside you will only have 3G access.

Definitely a limited set of countries, but hey if you are a regular visitor to one or more of those countries, then it's a very good deal, and will save you many £'s.
Wasn't long ago I signed up to a monthly rolling contract for Unlimited data, 4GB tethering, 200 minutes for £15
They're all going up.
In still within my 14 days to csncel.
Should I do it and get this instead?
I don't know if I want an additional unnecessary credit check though
Still havent received the letter from Three for my One Plan though
Hot from me would be unlimited hotspot tethering (which Three normally restricts to 4GB)
I've been a member since they started. In the last 6 months or so they've not paid out on anything - weaselling their way out of every single cashback claim, to the tune of a couple of hundred pounds.
So don't count your chickens before they hatch, as in this case they probably won't.
and the use your phone abroad catch , isn't half as attractive once you read the small print
The standard Three tethering amount is 12GB now I think. My friend got his before mine and got 4 but by the time I got mine it has gone up to 12GB.
£20 top up, lasts 30 days and 300 mins talk time and ayce data.

On the one plan via sim only, but never used the tethering in the few years I had it
As for network coverage, most of where I live is 4G. Im also on Three. I get a solid 20Mb/s almost everywhere and in other areas I get 70Mb/s+
+A few of my friends and I had ran speed tests on our handsets on several networks (EE, O2, & Three. In the same areas!) Three still turned out to be fastest, even though my handset had 2 bars and theres had full.
I get to 4GB if I am going a bit crazy outside. (Wifi at home)
Otherwise 2-3GB is average. So 12GB should be plenty.
Minutes: rarely go over a hundred, but when I do...200 is not enough. That happens about 1-2 months in 12.
With Three I get 10-15mbps on 3g alone which is more than enough for me. If i got less than 1mbps on 3g like my mate on o2 does i'd probably use 4g.
For most people 4g is just a marketing gimmick, especially on contracts with a low data allowance.
I was on the same tarrif, then calculated my real usage cost, to find out I am paying more almost every month ( compared to their PAYG 321 sim). So left them as soon as I found a 'better deal'.
In London if i place my phone on my granite pecil and mortar i can get 9MB download speeds... Better than my wifi shared with 6 others.
CSB!
The free data roaming in the USA has saved me £100s.
Feel at home is 2G/3G only.
"If you have a pay monthly phone or a SIM-only plan, you can use data in your plan through a tethered device. There are limits, though. On SIM-only, you can use as much of your data allowance through tethering as you like, unless you’ve got All You Can Eat data, in which case you can only use 8GB.'
Plus, Three have recently hiked prices on customers who are currently on contracts. This is morally bankrupt.
I had my Quidco track this morning - not sure how long exactly but less than a couple of hours
I am already with three and need another line, get great reception and 4G is fast. I have read some have utld data, mins, text for £17pm - I wouldn't mind paying that.
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sim-12gb-data-200-minutes-12-months-8-50-for-3-months-17-for-9-months-three-co-uk-2365455
And now we have this one at +544 and growing. What changed in a month? Or is that loads of people simply "blindly vote" depending if it is already cold or hot?
Am I going to get one of the dreaded letters as well? bearing in mind my plan does not include tethering, so I'm hopeful that I'll get to stay for a bit
Does your package exist now without tethering?
They assured me mine wouldn't go up as the plan still exists albeit at a much higher cost.
Moving into a new flat and wondering whether I could do this instead of getting a line rental from BT/Sky with broadband. Would make things very cheap since I already pay £10 a month for my mobile.
Spoke to the manager and they were adamant they couldn't do anything, I agreed to a new deal which was more expensive and that was the last I heard of it. Nothing changed since and that was about August last year.
I will be calling them again today to moan some more
I wish the merger gets blocked for these price rises alone.
A new customer after a 12 month contract wtih three, will likely get a good redemption deal.
Stay loyal, get rewarded.
or will I have to port to a different network and then port back?
Got in touch via chat the other week, and they offered me an extra 3-4gb of data a month for £5... Decided not to bite. But can always add that on if required as a "bolt-on"
They finally offered 8GB data with tethering, unlimited mins and texts on a 1 month rolling contract for £16pm. Not quite The One Plan but still pretty decent.
The key is to make them believe that you are calling to cancel.
Best I could get out of retentions was £16 a month for 600 mins/unlimited data/12GB tethering.
Absolutely loving it having gone from 500mb 3G to 12gb 4G! Signal seems very good everywhere I've gone, only 2 bars in my house but no problems with call quality etc.
1000mins,5000txt, 2000 three to three calls, ayce data and £10 international calls for £10
came with Samsung s3 mini back when it was ordered :sunglasses:
But also have BT broadband, so will **** off to them if Three put it up.
THREE dont give 2 phoo's about their customers..... (both contracts are/were 30 days).
That is why when three put their prices up I could not see any point in sticking with them, as imo the only thing they had going for themselves was the one plan at £15. Take that away and you are left truly with a lump of steaming hot poop.
If another network was to offer unlimited internet with some tethering then I might switch but at the moment that's not going to happen.
you're safe.
I'm thinking the only way to do that would be to buy this deal separately, and then get a PAC code from 3 for her existing contract and use it on a GiffGaff SIM. Then get a PAC off GiffGaff and give that to 3 for the new contract.
Any easier way?
http://www.three.co.uk/existing_customer_offers
4GB / 600MINS for £13p/m
Obviously if reception is poor in the areas you use any perceived deal will be of little use, no matter what network.
The ability to use my allowance abroad has been a real bonus too.
With the AYCE add on at £5 per month this would bring the monthly cost to £16 and if cashback is paid would be effectively £14.83 per month
Is the AYCE add on definitely available on all 12 month contracts?
Also if all minutes are used can the remaining data be converted into minutes somehow?
Sometime I'm unable to send or receive emails when out and about via POP3. I put this down to when I'm connected to an Orange mast rather than 3. Anyone else notice this?
In 2016 you really can do better than POP / SMTP for email however, start using a service designed to sync email between devices, such as Outlook.com or Gmail.
Please can someone confirm if I will get the quidco cash back if I go for the sim only 12 month plan that includes all you can eat data for £20? I presume so as it says any plan over the 4GB data plan. Thanks
:-)
Think i will stick with my 1 month rolling contract with ID mobile (which uses Three network), £12.50/month for 500 minutes, 5000 texts, 6GB data.
I consider the £5 cashback from Topcashback a bonus if it ends up being payable.
I just don't like three since they hard balled me of the £15 one plan. Sour grapes, possibly.
Disclaimer - The above is intended as a mildly humorous comment and should not be taken as any approval, or otherwise, of drugging children.:sunglasses:
It's £2.50 a month per inbox and you get a proper Microsoft Exchange account (50gb Inbox) which works great with Outlook on the desktop, or the iPhones native Mail app.
In addition you will be able to sync your calendar and contacts with your phone too.
I'm using Microsoft's Exchange Online to host the email for my personal domain, we also use it in the office too. No problems at all on Three. However the problem is with who ever is currently providing your email, not Three from what you have said.

It's also ironic that people complain about slow speeds and congestion, whilst simultaneously rinsing the system and contributing to that very problem.
They're a good network these days though. Good reception, good customer service.
OK just got offered Unlimited data (12gb tethering) unlimited min and unlimited texts for £20
Heres how it went
