I would personally source the one with 3GB ram and order from China, or possibly hold off for another few weeks if you can as there are at least 2 other phones from xiaomi due to be announced in January. one being a redmi 3, a smaller version of the note 3, Sam build but lower spec and a mi5 but should result in the price settling on the redmi series.

As someone who has bought quite a few items from them (aways from the China warehouse) I would agree with all this. To be fair only had a bit of bother with one order which they left unprocessed for 10 days until I got in touch to query. Turns out it was OOS and no idea when would be back in so pushed a bit and got a full refund (I paid by paypal and always have). Major downside is the delivery times but as this is from the EU warehouse delivery should be much much quicker.

Only just noticed it is EU warehouse stock. Delivery will be much quicker and more reliable. I'd guess that as it is EU stock they may have an 'international' rom flashed on them. Be tempted myself if I was in the market for a phone.

Xiaomi are a massive x and well respected make with a large turnover. Ihave other gadgets from them but I dont have this particular phone yet but am keeping an eye on their models . As I understand it with dual sim phones if you dont mind not using the second sim card for another network you can use it for extra storage,
You are also supposed to be able to instal google play your self.
The other issue to check is the bands as to which service provider these phones will work with.
Perhaps someone who already owns one can give us a review?

If you had read that forum correctly you will also know you can use the weekly rom which does have play store, just need to unlock bootloader etc. Also redmi note 2 was exactly the same to begin with and now has international rom. There is also a custom rom http://en.miui.com/thread-194174-1-1.html you can install which looks very stable from what I read and has play store. No need to root or unlock bootloader either.
losdamianos
2 Jan 16#26
yes I have read the forum correctly and in fact root is coming in the very near future all of the above does not matter this is not XDA this is HUKD for people expecting product working out of the box no necessary root / unlocking bootloader or installing new ROMS
this phone might be worth buying in few weeks not now

2 Jan 16#27
Op should have maybe mentioned it may not have play store but to most who buy these they know they dont always work out of the box but very easily you can unlock the bootloader and install the weekly rom which does have play store and no chinese bloat apps. For me it is worth buying now as was the redmi note 2 when that came out. I used that fine with the weekly eu rom until the international rom came out. The only real difference was it was not rooted so I could use the barclays app othewise they both worked just as good.
deano777
2 Jan 161#28
installing the DEV rom gives you root access.
The secondary sim is not able to be used for additional memory thats only on Meizu and oppo off the top of my head
Installing google play and services on this phone takes 2 minutes. If you can't manage that get a Nokia.
The 3Gb / 32Gb version is a far better device.

Android does not include the play store as standard in any way shape or form. Whilst it is the norm for a device to have it it is not part of Android, it is merely an application with dependencies that run as a system app on android. It also (by legal definition) requires the device to be GMS certified in order to be installed upon it.

Ordered a 32GB note 3 from gearbest on 13th December (at that time they did not have any stock) so order was left "processing" for a while after messaging them they tell me it was on "Presell" and would get stock on the 30th Dec, i paid a bit more for express shipping and arrived with DHL from China (no customs charge surprisingly) on the 5th Jan, so i'd advise to pay for the express shipping for quickness and tracking purposes.
As for the ROM and playstore, Yes mine came with playstore (no shrink wrap on the box so assume it's been opened to load it on) and comes with a host of European languages and UK English, I believe the non play store ROM only has Chinese and English US

robertwilliams30 to batmanbatgirl

The only problem I agree with is the guarantee, But that is the risk you take.. Never heard of anyone paying import tax (To be fair you can't even purchase Xiaomi products in the UK officially anyway, So would taxing be really justified?) As for the screen, Yes it may not be up to standards of your 2K 4K displays of today. But what it excels at is battery life, The 1080p Display screen plays a part of that...

2 Feb 16#80
it took a couple of days between email, the phone arrived very quickly but the reception was not great indoors. So instead to send it back all the way to China, I agreed to get a partial refund and keep the phone. Saying that I bought an elephone P7000 from them, and did not have any trouble with it. My opinion in buying from a Chinese company is, if you don't have any problem, it's great, but if anything arises, then you are stuffed really. Better off paying a little bit more maybe and sticking to a company like Amazon or similar, at least you can speak to them and they tend to be pretty with their after sales services (for example I bought a steaming mop, and it broke (plastic body), and Amazon just supplied me with a new one, no question asked, no P&P too. The cost of sending something in recorder delivery to China is not cheap
robertwilliams30
3 Feb 16#81
So basically not much different than dealing with a main smartphone manufacturer directly here in UK. On average a fortnight for service/parts with emails exchanged backwards and forwards. From previous experience with LG/Samsung
Probably better buying 2 at once. 1 to keep as a spare (with the prices going down all the time it makes more and more sense)

3 Feb 16#82
That's up to you really. I am not the only one to say that buying a mobile phone from China is a bit of a gamble, I am happy with my elephone P7000, would i buy again? Not sure, my elephone cost me £120 when I bought it, the phone is great and I would have had to spend at least £200/£250 to have the same specs. But with my initial post, i just wanted to point out that if you are buying from a EU warehouse, it does not mean that you are not dealing with China anymore, that's all, I did not know at the time myself
