I bought one of these from Amazon, and quickly sent it back. Quality of the images really poor, interference when panning, very noisy image, audio basically useless.
For a few pounds more, the 'COOLEAD L610WS' camera is great. I have two of these now, great for keeping an eye on the dogs when I'm out.
I can also recommend 'ucampro' iOS app for viewing on the go.

so can i switch off the ir manually, or it has to come on automatically? - ie no ir all the time? thanks

you can switch it to daytime mode (or something similar) always on through the settings - this will stop the IR lights coming on.

I agree - the CD card makes a big difference - I have one of my cams set up to record at one minute intervals to SD card - it "caught" the heron abusing the fish in my pond!

Please note this can also be used via a powerline adapter. (I have other makes connected by powerline and seems much more stable than wireless)

Motion sensor will work through glass during the day - at night IR will be reflected unless you disable it and use an outside light.

Yes by using the app.

I've bought 2. I belive this can store video onto a network shared drive after watching the YouTube video review. The only thing is - do you guys leave this out in the open or do you hide it within something? Most intruders know about wireless devices etc and the last thing I want is them coming in and botching the cam. Any ideas on covert placements?

this might be a stupid question, but can this be tilted/pan mechanically via remote interface? or is it manual? thanks

The resolution is VGA (640x480), vs HD (1280x720) of this one. quite a difference.
No sd card slot either on yours.

I just bought the NCL614WS which is only £14.99 from eBuyer - the description of it doesn't help me tell what the difference is. Apart from the £10 extra, what else does this one offer? Wondering if I made a mistake.

Pan & tilt plus it seems like it supports ONVIF and it might well work with my Synology.
I have used cameras like this outside, poking through a hole cut in the soffit. I have a good size soffit so they stay well out of the rain. They have lasted a couple of years. Could do with a "who's at the front door" cam.
Bargain kid/baby/dog cam. Ordered..

no good if you on Virgin media.
only way around is to pay a yearly subscription.
I use a old mobile phone on WiFi in my house with motion detector app free. that sends me a picture when approaching my street door.
can be uploaded to fb or WhatsApp. again all free.
best bet is get old android phone and put in a flowerpot on windowsill with hole cut out.

Maybe not the correct terminology, but this camera does have an IR lights 'OFF' setting. It's called "IR LED Control" in the settings page. If set to "Close" it will turn off the IR lights. So you can indeed point it towards a window and it won't bounce back at it.
Is it possible to set up recording of the videos continuously for few days on 1 or 2 TB hard drive without connecting to the Internet? How?

FYI: That is not what IR cut out means I'm afraid (I wish it sometimes!). It generally refers to cameras with a built-in mechanical filter that activates during the day to block out IR light. Therefore if pointing out the window the IR light will unfortunately still reflect off the window and cause the picture to be flooded and unusable. :disappointed:
What platform does the “mulch-functional app” run on? Do I need to add compost?

Does anyone know if this is only viewable after signing up to some sort of non-secure Chinese Internet service. Or is it proper P2P?

Use tinyCam monitor on android (or the ios equivalent) et voila, a 25 quid baby cam.
Can't beat it at that price.

I notice one of the Amazon reviews says "The pictures are nice and fairly clear for what you would expect out of VGA (640x480)". Is this one of those cameras (like many "HD" dashcams) that advertises 720p resolution but delivers a very lo-res VGA picture?
