And how would one manage this with a camera that has a VGA resolution?
they should be fine assuming you don't give them the rights to exit your network.
hosting the camera feed onto a locally installed NAS box, such as Synology, then allow yourself access to the app/nas via the web should be enough security for the most of us...

These Wansview cams are useless as the software only supports IE8 (well to take advantage of all the features)

That is true, and worrying - Trojan horses, like the Xiamio 720p cam which was a bargain but it stores and goes through their servers in China - dont see why the device cant just act as a server directly?

One thing to always bear in mind - Are the plugs/power packs fused and safe up to UK standards, great price anyway. Thing is that you want that peace of mind when left unattended, call me paranoid but I dont want to be arriving home to a red truck lol. I am surprised that the UK have not made any demands for safety testing from retailers given the rate at which imports are coming into the UK, or have they?

Great value, picture isn't as bad as you think, good easy setup software, good introduction into 'CCTV'... (just ordered a 720p eqv from china for £10.99 !!! merely because of the price)...... Ideal pet/baby cam... for the price of a decent pizza :wink:

I read on here that those cheap ones from China stream through their servers (in China) and could be viewed/kept by the company - dunno if that's true but was slightly worrying.
