No Scotland don't get EVERYTHING for free. Only tuition fees, prescription charges, dentistry charges, care for the elderly, hospital parking and they have frozen council tax. England's council tax bills are also typically 33% more then Scotland's too. So no idea why the English think they don't get as good a deal as the Scottish...

we've got brita jugs for home, but I carry small bottles in the car, so I don't have to buy a drink @ inflated prices

We don't get everything for free. The water is soft here. Not free. The cost of water is added to the Council Tax bill. Even so, I still would not drip water from my tap, so HEAT for this deal.

I buy mineral water. It tastes better and is better for you. It doesn't kill the plants like tap water does. Also more convenient and isn't that expensive compared to some other bottled drinks.

Me too. Maybe rmaee lives in Scotland. They get everything for free.
As for paying for bottled water when tap water is much cheaper. I would say it depends on where you live. My previous home had great tasting water but in my current home it's awful. Tastes like there's too much chlorine in it. :disappointed:
