You can also buy split tickets for a cheaper fair but let's be honest these prices are a bargain so snap them up

The trains are very early, very late or not available anymore so don't for one minute think Branson is giving away anything at all generous. The £9 fare I used to sue until just before Xmas has more than doubled in cost. Typical Branson PR stunt. Once you find a useful fare, his evil minions hike it up.

Doing a comparison against a normal fare ends up with purchasing through the link costing more! I dare say there's some bargains for some folk so not voting either way.

Typical train companies. Raise the prices each year ABOVE inflation despite receiving billions in government subsidies and then have "sales" when the truth is these are much closer to what it should cost!

I have had numerous Lancaster-Edinburgh tickets for £10 now so yeah at certain times of day/on certain dates that is the standard price for an advanced single.

Gutted, cost me nearly £120 for a return journey for 2 yesterday at the train station, could of got it here for £40!!!!! Heat from me, even though I was burnt!!

Worked for me, £56.70 for two adults and three children from Crewe to London with a family and friend rail card.

Hmm, not voted either way, but I could of sworn this time last year was looking to book tickets from Wigan to London and they were £10pp each way, now the sale price is £15.50pp each way. Never ended up booking them last year as by the time I had received confirmation from work for the time off prices had gone back up to £40 each way.

Bangor - London £16, £10.55 with Railcard. Seems decent.

Clearly Wakefield and Leeds to London is off the sale list, £224 day return end of January

What is happening?
Virgin Trains are running a limited train service between Carlisle and Glasgow via a diversionary route which will add an additional 90 minutes journey time.

Customers travelling on trains to and from Scotland are urged to check before they travel after it was confirmed that Lamington Viaduct, just outside Lockerbie, on the West Coast Mainline is to remain closed throughout January while engineers carry out repairs to the damage caused by Storm Frank. One pier of the structure has been weakened and investigations into the full extent of the damage will continue until the end of next week. At this stage it is anticipated the first trains will cross the viaduct Monday 1st February 2016.

We're really sorry for the disruption this will cause to our passengers on the West Coast Mainline. Safety is always the most important consideration on the railway and we support Network Rail's decision to close the West Coast Mainline between Carlisle and Scotland until they are sure it is safe to run trains.

We will continue to provide a replacement coach service for passengers between Carlisle and Glasgow, and there is also an alternative train service running on a diversionary route - however this is a limited service and will also add around 90 minutes to the journey.

Virgin Trains tickets are being accepted on our East Coast services between London King's Cross and Edinburgh but NOT on Cross Country services between Birmingham and Glasgow. Passengers travelling on Virgin Trains East Coast should expect these services to be much busier than usual, and anyone who can postpone or cancel their journey should seriously consider doing so. We will of course give a full refund for anyone who decides not to travel.
