Book by 8 Jan for travel from 5 January until 23 March. Many seats very very cheap. All routes on East Coast, so can also do say, Doncaster to London. Lots and lots of trains every day including ones which leave early in the morning, e.g. Leaving Leeds before 9am to arrive in London around 11.
Railcard discounts do not apply but most the the fares are cheaper than with railcard anyway.

For the train, absolutely. Always worth looking at flying if you're travelling that route though, often around £20 return with Ryanair.

Are these not normal prices for advance fares?
Raikkon85 to ran123ran
4 Jan 16#16
They are slightly better than some advanced fares, as far as I can tell, on the routes I've compared.
However.. you don't appear to get the railcard discount on top.. making these prices dearer if you do have a railcard.

You can't click on it, it is greyed out. It does say there is some peak availability, but I guess they have either all gone or there are hardly any routes for peak.

I'd say it probably only requires basic intelligence to realise he is suggesting it is good for people looking to travel from London to Edinburgh return.
Or were you being sarcastic? Seems a bit of a pointless remark to make if you were being sarcastic.

Already posted? Or is this something different?
I booked a return trip from Newcastle to Gatwick before Christmas (actually travelling next week) and it seems the fares quoted now for the same journey are higher.

I would strongly advise if you're doing say Leeds to Cornwall book Leeds to London with this offer and a single advance London to wherever in Cornwall. Will likely be tons cheaper than. Using cross country and on much nicer less cramped longer less smelly trains.

I think my point is quite clear to right thinking people generally.

Right thinking people would understand that the fare being discussed was clearly not relevant for people looking to go to Cornwall so wouldn't need to make such a comment.

They are funding these promotions by massively increasing most advance fares. London - Dundee (booked 3 months in advance) has increased by 150% since Virgin took over.
