I just switched to this deal last week, previous number ported over without no issues, everything was smooth but there is absolutely no signal whatsoever in my house, it constantly cycles through 'emergency calls only' and one bar of signal. Even when I'm out and about, I've had a maximum of three bars out of four and not for long. Going to give it a few more days to see if it picks up, if not I'm getting on the phone to them to cancel and get my money back as the signal strength is nowhere near what is listed on their coverage checker. Cheap deal, yes, but what's the point if you can barely get a signal to call someone, let alone 4g speed data!

I'm currently on the £5 per month with ID. 3network and data is 4g, idmobile app is nice to use as well.
this is a good deal.

I found that out after changing from Tesco but as the deals are getting better and cheaper as the weeks go by their will be something much better in 12 months. Im also finding that i no longer have a 4g signal in my house which i did have with Tesco/o2.
Thanks and sorry i didn't know it had already been posted

Worth leaving GiffGaff for this? I used to have solid signal with EE then went to GiffGaff but it isn't as strong. Value wise looks spot on.

I would assume so, it's Carphone Warehouses own network, ran by the three network

Thanks for this comment. I left the 3 network* upon which iD runs for that very reason. Full signal and happily chatting away then the line goes dead and no signal at all for 5 minutes.
I believe that 3 jumped onto other network masts when a 3 mast could not be found but as soon as it gets a sniff of a 3 signal it jumps mast even if the signal is very weak, leading to dropped calls.
If the signal is good in your area you won't have any problems but otherwise be aware of the problems. At least with this deal you could afford to get a SIM for a month and try it for a few days to see if it works then port your number.
*around 5 years ago. It seems the problem persists in some areas although when I asked for my PAC I had a devil of a job extracting it from 3 who insisted that their equipment showed no fault therefore my phone was to blame. I switched to Orange thereafter and the same phone worked without difficulty.

I know what you mean, worried me a bit, but they picked up the phone quickly and sorted my query within a couple of minutes.
Lots of posts about it being bad, but nobody seems to actually have a reason to back it up :smirk:
They all mess up every now and again. I've had to chase O2 for 5 months for overcharging me £480 from a refresh deal, and EE (actually orange fault) kept charging me after I ported to another network. As far as I'm concerned their all idiots, so just go for the best deal :stuck_out_tongue:

You should have a read of the deals posted, people seem to have plenty of actual reasons why customer service is bad. Losing numbers when porting them, overcharging massively, not being able to get stated allowance right. Supposedly capped contracts racking up massive bills.
I know people come online to have a moan but these seem to really have issues. I also know all companies mess up from time to time, but seriously take a look at their facebook page, or the horror stories posted when they have a deal listed here, these seem to have real issues, ones you can't out down to the occasional mess up.
PS. O2 also overcharged me after a refresh deal! Took me weeks to get my £280 back!

whatever you do, do not sign up for ID under any circumstances, I work for the company myself and they owe me over £200 due to not cancelling a 30 day rolling sim after 5 attempts and wrong bill calculations. Their customer services are shocking and extremely unhelpful.... not worth the hassle honestly

With me it was their app not showing this extra data and various emails with screenshots for them to confirm to it.
Over Christmas I went over the 2 gb data the app thought I had and then it started charging me. As my contract was capped, it then reached it's cap and cut me off so I couldn't make calls. To get through to customer services, they ask you EVERYTHING (name, postcode, address, who the direct debit comes from, DOB, your phone number) and "very" graciously charged me for 1gb so I could use my phone. They said they would credit it back (they haven't), said they would confirm it in writing (said it would take 2 days, they haven't), said they would take up the extra data issue with their technical team (said it would take 5 days.. they haven't). They wouldn't apply 2gb of data, only the 1gb.
I walked away from them after 15 days.
I get MUCH better signal with Three than I did with them.
I have been sent an email to access my final bill but I can't as they've closed my account. Needless to say, my direct debit is cancelled.
You will regret switching if you intend to "use" your phone. Avoid

Lots of troubles start 3-4 days before statement date EACH MONTH... Your remaining data will show up as double, minutes will show up as double, but DO NOT get enlightened and use them as you will get charged. Most pathetically DATA SERVICES BECOME FULLY UNAVAILABLE almost all day during this 3-4 days. They are running this whole service with the help of CRAP systems.

You can't turn off the voicemail, even when you go abroad. Been trying for 6 months but they still say its on its way!!!!

13 Jan 16#23
I'm with them and they managed to mess up porting my number three times and it took a month to apply the double data discount.
My signal is also crap, despite being on 3 previously with good coverage. I barely ever get 4g and I actually get H+ internet most of the time- whatever the hell that is!
I'm contemplating moving again as the internet is shocking on it, and that's the main motivator to get the contract (as I'm more of a data user rather than calls/texts).

Ok, now those are useful posts about bad service :-)
I am wary, but so far, so good for me (touch wood). Customer service were helpful, number was ported over on time, signal is better than I had previously, 3G is faster.

Managed to get 4gb data, unltd mins and text with Three for £11 when requesting PAC code to leave and mentioning this deal and iD Mobile. Worth trying if you plan switching. Still not as good as this however save the hassle of switching and also am pretty happy with Three either way.

Does anyone actually realise that on the one month contracts - they can, and do, at anytime reduce your allowance drastically as TPO did, from 6gb to 1gb for eg, at least with Tesco your safe from such changes. This is directed at anyone who is on a decent tariff which may now not be available, brill deal for those not currently on old decent tariff, caveats for those who may think the grass is greener......

But maybe the grass is greener? Have no loyalty these companies make millions off the backs of unwitty public

14 Jan 16#41
All very good but your actually wrong, even if you have a longer contract they can still change the package as long as they allow you to cancel penalty free.
As for O2/Tesco, a family member just signed up and I realised the port had went through as she now has the voice quality of a walkie talkie.
scooby555
13 Jan 161#32
I agree, sometimes it is and loyalty means jack ******* - its only the new start ups that seem to be offering data when the other ones are drastically reducing data allowance as no doubt its a costly overhead, I think the trick is that once the customer quota is met, they will start ramping down as TPO did from 6gb to 1gb , I pay £10 for 2gb + lots of mins, but I know its guaranteed for many years, id love to have 4gb for £10 but its just to risky given what TPO did to their customers.

I moved to ID network from giffgaff because of bad signal on the 22nd December. Ported my number in aswell and it took since 22 December to the 11 January to complete the process. Awful customers service had to keep on ringing them to get my port in sorted quickly.

In terms of network, I would posit that EE have the best coverage for 4G. I use their 4GEE sim in a dongle for mobile broadband and it's faster than my (slow) wired broadband connection. So I may go for EE when I switch from Virgin who, unbelievably, DO NOT OFFER 4G right now! Terrible although Virgin's customer service is good.

I recommended my partner take one of the cheap iD phone deals, she's not happy with it at all, the coverage and speeds are absolutely **** and we are in London. I would avoid iD/Three at all costs.

I saw this offer, got the deal and the sim arrived yesterday. I got home installed the sim and then the fun began. They wanted me to register on their website and I put in my details and it said we will send an authorisation code to your phone by sms which you need to put in to continue. So I duly waited and waited and no code arrived, you could only ask for a new code every 15 mins so I did and again nothing arrived. I tried the application on the phone directly and still no code arrived. Then about 11 pm a wad of codes arrived in random but these codes had all expired and would not be accepted by the application. Finally at gone midnight I was able to request a code that arrived before the application timed out and get registered but it does not fill one with any sense of a hassle free future. Only redeeming feature is it is only a 1 month contract so if no good can move on.

Three network brings me bad memories. I would get a signal in places you usually would not and wouldn't really expect to but in places you would expect to like in my living room or on my street i would get no internet. lol pointless unless things have changed in the last 5 years

If you make calls home from certain countries and use 3/4G abroad then it is worth considering the 3 network - works for contact and payg. Saved £125 in calls and data when in Italy last year.
