Don't do a 245/40/20 in these. shame, I have them in 235/40/19 on the people carrier and they are awsome in the rain.

I've had great wear from them,
I use winter tyres too but do 20-30k a year in a rear wheel 2.5l german coupe and drive a mixture of styles traffic and road dependant (ie not like Nun when no traffic)
I took the wheels off mid November this year after their 2nd season, fronts still have approx 3-4mm and rears 2.6-3mm
I'll be sticking then on eBay shortly with a buy 2 (fronts) get 2free (rears) deal on them

So approx 12-15k a year, not bad in my opinion and I've fitted to 3 family cars but as mentioned I'd chose some thing else again for one as I noticed only when delivered that one of the sizes 13 or 14" I think only had b or c wet stopping rating

Wear depends on the car with these. One car, large heavy, fwd diesel - lasted < 5000 miles on the front. The other, largish petrol engine, mid size car has done 7000 miles and just under 6mm left all round. Not as good as others for wear but they don't allow you to drive with such confidence in the rain that you forget the road is wet :-)

I was considering these recently, but pretty much every review said they wear much quicker than other tyres. One person even said they only lasted 4000 miles. Other than that they're apparently great though, so it's a definite tradeoff.

Not sure this is that good a deal though, as I'm pretty sure they were about this much fitted at a local tyre place?

Edit: actually thinking about it, it might have been the Rainsport 2 I was looking at.

Had these on my stanced and slammed Duster before I returned it due to rust issues.

Great in the rain as you would guess... I would say above average in the dry.

A slight upgrade would be Goodyear Eagle f1 asymmetric 2 with the xl side walls. Very good In the wet but better than these in the dry

funny ..this ..plus post ..no way diyer can fit them ect good deal but but not like a bike were it takes two spoons 2 change a tyre

If your after ones that protect alloys go for Goodyear eagle f1 asseymetric 2. Best tyres I have ever used and decent price these days. Put them on every car I have had for the last few years and the wife's. The tyre fitter did say these uniroyals are very good still. Good years last a long time as well so worth the extra. Check the reviews on them.

Good spot. Didn't know they still made the original one. Nobody sells it here in the UK. Was looking for new tyres (when the winter tyres come off) our C1 as we have them on the Mazda 6 but they don't seem as good in smaller sizes. Have Fulda Ecocontrol as summer tyres but it seems like the best ones are now Falken SN832EC in our size (165/60R14).

Lots of car enthusiasts will recommend these tires to you. They seem to be the favorite for most. I had 4 delivered yesterday from Camskill for just under £220 (although in the 205/40). Fitted on to my winter alloys for £5 a wheel at a local garage, just need to get them tracked and aligned. Seem pretty grippy, and I'm sure will be a huge improvement over the budget tires that came on my car.

And Camskill price is a very good price, most online retailers will want 70-85 for them (although some includes fitting), the garage that fitted mine quoted me £85 a wheel.

Only good in big sizes? Guessing there design doesn't transfer to smaller sizes well?

tyretraders have these for slightly less delivered. I just paid £238 for 4. Same size...

I looked at these one time but went for Goodrich at about £75 from tyre traders. The rears are fantastic after about 15k and the fronts still have about 6 months more after 12K. Unfortunately, they are now about £105!

I always use http://www.tyreleader.co.uk now for my van/s tyres. Cheaper that everyone else and free shipping from Netherlands, get them in about 3 days. And pay £10 a rim to fit them.

An "OK" tyre IMO - I put a set of 255/35/19 on the wife's A4. I just ordered some Avon ZZ5's as replacements so probably wouldn't buy them again.

If you are putting them on something half decent then there are much better choices out there but for miss daisy driving then they are an OK choice for the money. Price seems fairly consistent with other suppliers.

I used to use a place in Llanelli that charged £5/corner (incl balancing) just to get the business. Recently, my local ATS charged £30 for 4 (incl balancing) and even offered me a receipt :confused:

It is about 15-miles from me and I have also these tyres :smile:

I use these as my track tyres in the wet and they have been faultless around Donny, Malory, Blyton and Bedford in the rain. I've even done a dry track day with them and other than the quick wear rate they were fantastic. I like them so much that I now run them as my daily tyre on the road too, amazing all round bit of rubber and at that price they are unbeatable value for money.

Thinking about getting these to replace my good years on my Type R. Hmmmm

These are great tyres and the only ones that can succefully manage my cars power in the wet and I've tried the big boy brands and expensive tyres, these trump most imo.

Oh and they actually last pretty well.

I have these fitted to the rear of my E92 320d, great tyre all year round and excellent in the wet. 5k miles in and I've got 5.8mm left doing mainly town driving.

Does that include the alloy?

anyone any experience with how much a garage generally charges to fit/balance a pair if I have them delivered?

Normally go with Conti Sport or Goodyear ASY2 which are both under a ton fitted. Pretty good tyres and always manage 20k miles out of them. Might not grip quite as much though but I suppose it depends how you drive.

A few months ago, putting Continental SportContact5s on our Ford Kuga. Didn't notice a change then.

The car in question is a Golf GTI and had Achilles on it beforehand (previous owner's choice!). The soft side wall is a common complaint on these tyres Aside from that they're pretty good so far.

This around Camskill's normal price... actually now at £52.60. Postage per tyre decreases if you order more - 4 tyres is only £14 .

How long ago did you all last have a tyre change? I noticed this too last time I had new tyres (different make)

My understanding is that manufacturers are having to use softer sidewalls to meet EU drive-by noise regulations, so new tyres will be more squashy.

So you order these (or other tyres) and have them delivered to the tyre fitters? Which companies are happy to fit please? I need four for my missus' car, so this would obviously be great for my pocket.

These lasted around 8k on the front of my Mondeo as opposed to about 13k with other brands .
Grip is fantastic in the wet but they are quite noisy at speed due to the tread pattern.

Do you really notice a difference? I am thinking about getting these on the front, been using bridgestone potenzas but wanted to try these... My car is lowered and also a slight bit of stretch on the tyres (225 instead of 235) do you reckon these would be dodgey!

I was interested in these at one point but as commented above the things which stood out to me on the reviews were soft compound (wear quickly) hence their cheapness and soft side walls which to me defeats the object of having this size tyre fitted to a car, unless you are the type of driver who hits their brakes every time they see a bend in the road! then this sounds like the tyre for you.

I had these fitted a few weeks ago on the front of my focus, grip is good but I have noticed they looks flat even though they have the same pressure as my old tyres. Maybe they need more pressure because of the soft compound.

GREAT tyres. Sticky as hell. Wear isn't great though. 8k miles or so and my rears are starting to look like they'll need replacing fairly soon. Tends to happen though : More grip = quicker wear

I think I got them for about this price fitted last year so I wouldn't say this is a bargain (as you've now gotta go get them fitted for probably around £10 a tyre). Great choice though if you're looking for new ones.

best tyre I've ever used. on rx8 and ed 30 gti .got mine for slightly more fitted via black circles. highly reccomend
