The display always lets the chinese phones down, I guess you can't expect much at this price.

If you prefer a 5 inch display then the HomTom HT3 may be of interest to you at around £40. The CPU is not quite as good but the battery is about 50% bigger.

Yes something like the Doogee X5 is a sharper display at 294ppi pixel density compared to 244ppi for this model but reviews of the Be X have stated its a good display with one criticizing overall brightness slightly. However for interactivity of the display the Be X is far superior it offers 5 point multi-touch over only 2 point multi-touch on the X5 so much more fluid when controlling games etc. The Be X provides far superior gpu and cpu performance and provides superior interactivity with games, emulators and apps. The doogee x5 offers twice the touch tracking of a resistive screen but the Be X provides five times the tracking.
Yeah that's fair. Tbh I probably wouldn't get a 4.5 screen phone either. I think 5 or 5.2 is about right. Maybe phablet is good though if someone doesn't already have a tablet, then again you can hardly fit a microsoft surface in your pocket.

The size of the display isn't what worries me, rather the resolution and quality of the display.

Nor do I to be honest but my eyeballs thank me for it! I think the phone in this deal could be good as a cheap gaming platform at the price but the rest of the spec falls considerably short of the CPU.

It depends on what you mean by fast. The gpu in the X5 ( I have one) is just a dual core Mali 400 rated at 9 gflops. The gpu in this phone is a quad core Mali 450 rated at 35.8 gflops. The X5 gpu is horrifically slow in comparison. Even the X5 pro is only rated at 17 gflops for the gpu, less than half the speed. Then of course the ulefone has a 8 core cpu at 1.4ghz. The X5 is 4 core of the same type at 1.3ghz and the X5 Pro is 4 core at 1ghz but they are 64bit cpu's. The pro also has 2gb rather than 1gb.
My doogee x5 is brilliant and fast in operation but its clear gpu wise its fairly weak. Many games and emulators run slow on it even though the phone itself is responsive in use.
I'm not going to knock the doogee's though, absolutely brilliant phones. This phone is for those who maybe want more performance and a more compact size and don't mind not having android 5.x.

I'm still getting 34.86 but when I add to cart it's the higher price and says flash sale is over. However before I bought mine the offer was listed but the price wouldn't reduce so I'm unsure if they offer won't come back. It probably is expired but its worth people interested in buying the phone keep an eye on it just in case.
Still listed as their big clearance offer but with gearbest that doesn't mean much I guess.
Also a true octacore design not a combination of weak and powerful cpu's for optimising battery use.

Different screen sizes, 4.5 vs 5.5, personally I don't like Phablets.

Specs are good but you will run out of storage with only 8gb and really for the processor it should have at least 2gb ram.
Price £52.62 Europe or £34.86 from China but will take about 2mths to get to you i ordered a torch November and still waiting for it....Keeps saying on its way on there tracking site.

Gearbest do have some cracking deals on phones. However, unfortunately this isn't a DooGee

That's a much weaker phone. About 2/3rds the gpu performance, less than half the cpu performance and generally weaker all round spec, less resolution etc.
This phone offers significantly more performance than the vodafone smart prime 6 or 3rd gen moto g but seems to fall in between the performance of the next level of phones beyond £100.
As stated the main benefit here is very good cpu and gpu performance but it lacks 4g and the resolution sits between entry level and 720p. A good phone for someone who wants to run graphically and cpu demanding apps/games/emulators etc but doesn't need 4g or android 5.x. A good phone for someone who does payg rather than a monthly contract possibly.

Looks a nice phone and in many ways superior like the screen but the cpu is half the power of this one and the gpu about 1/4 of the power. I have a Doogee X5 with the MTK6580 chipset which is great but its only a dual core Mali-400. I bought a cheap 10" phablet which has the MTK6582 and that was only £53 with a leather case included. That has the benefit of 2GB main memory and 16GB internal storage but only marginally faster than the MTK6580 purely because they are clocking it at 1.5ghz instead of 1.3ghz which also seems to a have a small knock on effect to the gpu. My point is MTK6580 is good entry level performance where as this phone is easy mid-level performance. Quite a performance gap between them.

2nd that! Even the bog standard X5 is as fast as most on the market for £400+ ;-)
The dual sim and signal on our X5 Pros [X5 should be the same] blows signal loss
