Peanuts are very bad for you. Full of saturated fats.. Great if you want to clog up your coronaries and have a heart attack.
Cold.

Every thing in moderation, don't eat the whole tub at once. Even Water is bad for you you can drown in it

That was last week. This week they're good for you in moderation. Next week they'll be a new cure for cancer.

Oh really! Where did you get this info from?
I suggest looking into real studies, In moderation peanuts reduce the risk of heart disease drastically and they are great for dieters as they contain a lot of fibre and are high in protein (so very filling).
I did laugh when it was mentioned you posted a deal for pizza and tried to say it was much healthier than peanuts. Almost all the fat in peanuts is good, While the opposite is true for pizza

Lol.. But come on! Pizzas do not contain 50-60% fat do they? Peanuts have been known to clog up arteries for many years.. It's keeps the medics in business I guess..

Peanuts are not bad for you. The stuff they are coated in is not great for you. i lost 6 stone years ago and I had lots of peanuts during my diet. Fat is not bad for you. It's excess fat that's the problem..... And processed food like pizza

It keeps the medics in business yet they've advised us to limit saturated fats for the past 40 years or so.

The problem essentially is that you can never eat just a handful of peanuts (which is the advice for a 'healthy' diet).. You do actually end up eating the entire tin, even if that's over a few hours. Which would mean about 90-100g of saturated fat!
If ther were studies done on this type of behaviour and checking of ones lipid profile pre and post their 'binge' I would be concerned that this would adversely affect the bad cholesterol levels and triglycerides.. Although there is no evidence to support this..

But who does not eat a whole large pizza when it turns up? Neither is going to be good for you in excess!
The whole problem now is that there is too much food available, When I was a kid you only usually had these tubs of peanuts at christmas. The rest of the year you would get monkey nuts every now and again along with chestnuts if we went for a walk to the local farm

I guess the same can be said about 'oily fish'.. Ok so it contains 'good oil' and aims to increase your HDL level.. But if one just sat there all day and ate tins after tins of this, they would become obese (due to the overall fat and energy content) and this in turn may lead to cardiac disease..

Did you know if you walk into McDonalds and eat 20 burgers twice a week, you'll get fat?
Yes of course you did. The reason most people DON'T do that is because they exercise a little bit of self-discipline. Obviously something you lack if you think dipping your hand in a tub of peanuts means you'll gorge on the entire thing in one sitting.

Mr Stiff, I'm just taking from personal experience. Peanuts are somewhat addictive. I have never just had a handful and stopped there, they always slowly get finished.. Then I feel really sick. My point is simple. These so called healthy foods are only that if taken in moderation. But most people are not able to moderate this due to the addictive nature. As for burgers and pizzas, you'd get full pretty quickly after eating 2-3, so you cannot make that comparison.
I hope that clears things for you, Mr Stiff.

It's Miss Squiff actually. Why do people on here assume I'm a bloke when my avatar is a fluffy bunny? Anyway, you just proved two of my points. I consider my case rested.

I'm sorry. Please accept my sincerest apologies, Miss Squiff - I wasn't wearing my contacts.
But on a serious note, do I really not have a point about these addictive unhealthy foods? The same can be said about the new craze about cononut oil.. Something which contains 97% saturated fat. And now scientists are saying it actually prevents heart attacks.. This all doesn't add up!

It all boils down to self control. If you must, buy a packet of peanuts and separate them into bags of small portions and allow yourself one bag a day, or even a week. You have a point, but it's a weak one and you're coming across as standing on your soapbox shouting at 'bad' foods for making people fat, like that chubster who tried to sue McDonalds for making her a chunk. People make themselves fat, not foods or food retailers, by eating too much, too often, with too poor choices all too frequently. Gettit?

So basically, they are not for fatties like you who do not know when to stop. For the rest of us, we'll enjoy what we want and use common sense to know what moderation is.....
