The first all-in-one zoom lens to achieve wide-angle-to-long telephoto coverage along with outstanding imaging performance, this Tamron AF18-200mm Nikon fit is still the world's lightest, most compact 11.1X zoom lens in its class. Advanced Tamron technology, Hybrid Aspherics, and Internal Focusing is what makes all this possible in a dramatically downsized package.
i purchased this lens for my D5500 and see the difference straight away simply brilliant very happy with the purchase and deal by argos.
sorry guys for the copy paste error thanks for pasting the correct link

Nice price. Anyone know how this would compare to the 55 200 vr 2 nikon lens? Focal length range obviously, but how about picture quality

Same on Amazon and the bad reviews are real bad, all examples show mega noise & physical noise is noted too.

Cheers, ordered. Reviews are generally really good, and the price for quality completely undercuts likewise comparable lenses.

Anyone know if they do one that a Pentax would fit?
Amazon are doing it for the same price at the moment if you want an alternative.
In fact, Amazon say the RRP is £200, so you're saving much much more if you buy it from Amazon

sorry to say but this is a very entry level lens. I bought one purely because it is cheap. lens searches long time to focus and on when u push the lens on zoom picture gets very soft and vignette on corners. But if you wanted a lens where you can zoom and take pictures on a tripod it can be used.

I have a Nikon 18-200mm VRII and i have compared using both of these and trust me, you get what you pay for!
Its barely acceptable esp at the long end, as mentioned its super soft and lots of vignetting, if you are serious about taking photos do not consider this, if you want something to take snaps in spain and only carry one lens, then fair enough.

Had it, used it, sold it..... Enough said. Don't expect anything special from a lens at this price.

Assuming this is your budget, would it still be a reasonable buy? Or is their better available?

This is a normal price for this lens, and for this sort of price no better lens out there, It does work and it performs to its duty. You can produce good photos with a tripod and manual focus. AF just wonders around till it settles.
I personally wouldn't buy this from argos. Buy from amazon for the same price and if you are not happy juts return it !! make sure all packaging etc looks good enough to be returned...

See if you can get the right mount/adapter for it. My nikon and canon lens work great in MANUAL mode on my
Panasonic GH3. It has saved me a fortune not buying Panasonic lens. Cant remember the seller but i got them on Amazon uk.
