20% for new customers is misleading - it's only for new customers opening a credit account, also can't be used in conjunction with sale items.

Varies wildly depending on how many gas plumbers are in your area. In major cities it's usually about 30-40 quid. In villages or small towns, you're looking at over £100.
If it comes with an attached hose and your gas line is a micropoint connection, you can easily do it yourself. They don't usually come with hoses though :disappointed:

Is it not common to find any modern technology on gas cookers nowadays? Like a fan assisted oven?

lol.... £70 should be the minimum, I charge 70-80, there are people out there who charge a lot more but I've never seen one fitted for 50 or less that has been done to standards yet (yes gas cookers have strict rules just like boilers... it's not just a matter of fitting a hose)

you can NOT fit cookers yourself whether it came wit a hose or not.... the minimum requirements by law are that you are competent in gas.

Well being a plumber you would say that. It's like an oil tycoon telling us fracking is perfectly safe for the environment.
Micropoint connections are for consumer use. Getting a gas person out for that would be a waste. It's a self-sealing hose which carries no risk of leak or any kind of danger.
With other connection types...wouldn't touch it unless you know what you're doing. But Micropoints are literally the same as changing a bulb.

I'm not a plumber I'm a cooker specialist, and I'm not saying that because it benefits me, I'm saying it because thats the law.
For a start no cooker comes with a micropoint fitted so there's one joint that you'd have to connect up and would need testing (properly with a manometer at the meter), secondly how would you know the cooker itself didnt have a leak internally ?..... Again that's done at the meter with a manometer, do you know what the working pressure is ? Required clearances ? Connection point requirements ? etc etc
You are allowed to disconnect and reconnect an existing appliance on a bayonet but you are NOT allowed to fit ANY new gas appliance unless you are competent.
