Mario on the WiiU is an extremely good game and is rarely discounted. I have never seen it this low before, whether it will be nationwide is a big question but may be worth checking local HMVs if you are in the area.

There were display boxes on the stand, I bought one and it was taken from a draw behind the counter, couldn't see how many they had.

Release the geese! Great fun as a single player, but really shines with local multiplayer. Scorchio!
Might have to take a trip down after work tonight. Could have gone this morning as I walk from Oxford Circus to Soho, so it's a bit of a trek to pop out of work for 35mins to get there and back! Hopefully they have some copies left tonight!!!

Very unlikely to get this at Edinburgh, Princes St store. Was in last week and they have a tiny corner for gaming. About 4 Wii U games were there and about 6 3DS games, most out of stock too and Mario 3D was not one of their games. Might be worth a pop in if passing though.

Edinburghs gaming section is a joke. section has been taken over by pop funkos and over priced t-shirts. I was in yesterday and it wasn't this price (but as you said was out of stock anyway)

Unbelievable price, if I wasn't at work I'd get on a train to central London. Even with a train ticket (£13.50) it would still cost me a hell of a lot less than the retail value of this game!

When the crazy £39.99 Ps3 deal was on here a month ago, the prices at Westfield mirrored those of Oxford Street - they had the PS3 for that price - so may be worth popping in there if you can't get to central London.

Last time I went into store some years ago, the entire downstairs section was entirely for gaming, and filled to the brim. It was excellent. Changed days, is sad kids don't get to go and see 100s of titles on the shelves anymore like we used to be able to. Guess thats the internet for you (and progress).

Is this game out of production and therefore in limited supply or are Nintendo just greedy? Even pre-owned copies go for £30+ and the game is over 2 years old!

14 Jan 16#50
Great price although if I had been there I would've bought 5 copies and then sold them here for £9.99 + £1.20 shipping.
Typical Nintendo being greedy and their hurr hurr supply and demand. At least they fixed the supply issue with their McDonald's NFC toys.
Dmack81 to rickitmk12
14 Jan 16#52
It's not about greed. Nintendo's first party games always hold their value, just take a look at eBay for proof. Why should they sell for less than they're worth?
jsty3105 to rickitmk12
14 Jan 16#57
Neither. Retailers know people still buy at that price. Nintendo has nothing to do with this price

That game used to be £6 and now it's going for at least £20.
Same goes for Zombi U.

14 Jan 16#55
The majority of WiiU games hold there value really well although ZombiU can be bought fron CEX for £10 and Nintendoland £15 (obviously secondhand though).
I bought ZombiU for £7 and Nintendoland for £5 (from Game) before all this strange game scarcity set in, shame there is not much new coming out probably makes people hold onto the games they have.
jsty3105 to madeofbraille
14 Jan 16#59
Can't be sure about Nintendo land though it's unlikely. Zombi u going up in price is a big surprise though. I can only surmise that prices rose after it went to other platforms and suddenly people were interested in the wii u version

14 Jan 161#56
To confirm for everyone, the shelf was empty, asked a colleague, they said if the shelf is empty then it's OOS. Asked the guy at the till, he looked in the game drawer and on the pc, it's a discontinued line and they have none left. Cant even check other stores due to discontinuity.

This is not a game in limited supply. If it was it would be hard to find. It isn't.

The staff probably bought it once they realised if there were a few left, as it goes on ebay still for around £40!

The prices are ridiculously hiked up. If Nintendo made a reasonable amount of prints the prices would become decent which they aren't right now.
jsty3105
15 Jan 161#62
That's because retailers know they can still sell at that price. I seriously doubt Nintendo sales reps are forcing shops to sell at that price. This is the one game which I can be sure of seeing in Wii U game shelves. I don't see anything to suggest a shortage of units that would drive up the price like the situation with MH3U at launch. Naught to do with greed.
That belief itself is quite off the mark as the shop purchasing manager would have purchased it at a certain price some time back. Price is then set in store based on whatever calculations they use. At least that's my understanding of retail. There's probably someone that works or used to work in a game shop that could confirm or refute what I'm saying.
