I called b&q on the 7th to be told Smeg would contact me directly on Monday or Tuesday of last week. I heard nothing from them so called b&q again on Friday afternoon and was assured Smeg would be calling me this morning to arrange delivery this week so fingers crossed. Might be worth calling b&q if you haven't heard anything yet.

I received my order via JL on Monday and have now cancelled the b&q order, JL price matched it so happy. Has anyone who ordered from b&q actually received their order? SMEG seem to be fulfilling orders via other retailers at the higher prices but claim they are out of stock for b&q orders??

Would John Lewis do a price match if I placed an order? I.e show them order invoice?

B&Q have said it's coming direct from the manufacturers, so they (SMEG) will be in touch.

Yes I believe it's a fan heater located in the bottom which blows hot air downwards.

I'm trying to get to the bottom of this since I heard nothing off B&Q until I rang them today, even though they've taken payment.

I rang Smeg this morning, and they have said that they are waiting for the stock to come in, they've got to put their own fascias on the fire (proving some people's claims that these are just rebadged fires?) and are looking to get the deliveries out by end of January start of Feb the latest.

I was thinking about cancelling the order but it's a good looking fire and for the price (£110), there's nothing that looks as good as this, even if it is just a rebadged generic fire.

EDIT: BTW, the advisor at Smeg said the orders are definitely going ahead and my name is in a hat? and said that as soon as it's pulled, they will contact me to arrange a delivery date.

This'll probably be B&Q's way of saying 'We have every intention of cancelling your order because we don't mind disappointing our customers.In the meantime,we'll make it look like we are trying to source stock and don't mind keeping everyone's money as we string them along'

I've ordered three items from them in the last year.Two items were cheap.The third,a misprice.All were cancelled.After about ten days of waiting for an item to turn up,i emailed them asking for a delivery date to be told,oh yeah,we didn't have stock,it's been cancelled.I asked why i had not been refunded automatically and they replied that they don't refund until they had spoken to me (they hadn't tried by email or phone).
If i'd had a case of amnesia,they'd probably still have it :smile:

Mine was initially refused on the basis of colour, they stated they only had cream, I logged back in to the John Lewis, clicked on the black Smeg, and then emailed them back with the product code of the black one and also copy pasted the link for he £125 Smeg.

The e-mail I received from John Lewis states:

Central heating should be the primary heat source in homes. This heater is just a bit of cosmetic fun.

I believe the heat output is from the bottom. A search on the Web states that they did this so it can be installed under a TV.

I'd install bigger output radiators instead of I were you. Just my opinion though.

Funnily enough you're thinking down exactly the same lines as I am. Would like one of these but think the manufacturer's name being emblazoned on the fascia is a bit much. Would like to remove this entirely failing that cover the brand name up somehow - but at a guess this isn't possible (don't know whether the fascia gets hot for example).
Voted hot but good luck with dealing with B&Q. Their click and collect system is flawed, severely flawed. They take your money despite any stock being available nor being reserved and expect you to wait very nearly a week to get a refund upon being told they do not have the items available ex-stock.
