Shimano spd pedals for 15 quid. Just bought for my hybrid bike to go with my 10 quid aldi cycling shoes (also picked up today at Rochdale Edinburgh way branch where there are plenty left).
Cheapest I can currently find them and a pound dearer than cheapest ever I think. Definitely a good deal as they're going for anything from 17.50 to 27.50 elsewhere.
Only white and silver in this price. Black is a couple of quid dearer, but my bike is white

I've had these on all my mountain bikes, can't go wrong for that price. The cleats alone cost around a tenner.

I suppose I'll need new pedals at some point and when I do they won't be this cheap...

Great pedals. Seem to last forever and keep clipping even in ridiculous mud.

Were there any ladies cycling shoes in Aldi? Wondering if they are £10 nationwide...
Good price for these pedals and an excellent product.

Couldn't say if the shoes are national, or if there were ladies ones as unfortunately I was only interested in the men's ones. There were at least 2 more size 10 and one 11 in Rochdale.

Clip ins are the single best upgrade you can do to your mountain bike, IMO. Provides optimum power from the leg to the drive train. I wouldnt be without them. Highly recommend!

Unless you are downhilling, then just let me know so I can film the result for youtube
On a serious note - completely agree for trail riding

I'm tempted but have seen a few middle aged men falling over at junctions on clips which puts me off.

AFter a while it's so natural you don't even think about unclipping. For the first couple of months, you have to think ahead lol.

Unclipping is easy with systems now in the days gone bye had shoe plates and clip and straps,so had lean down to loosen the strap and then lift your shoe out of the pedal slot. That was especially fun with a fixed wheel bike.
Mind last summer had a Look cleat come loose that jammed ,had to use my right foot to unmount with the left one still in pedal.

Are the fixings standard fire road bikes? I'd be wishing to use these with my triban 3, if any if the pro cyclists could advise would be appreciated.

Yes the pedals will fit both road and MTB chainsets. You will need SPD compatible cycling shoes to go with the pedals.

Anyone recommend some cheap shoes compatible with this?

Yes, try the Shimano M065 SPD shoes, I have the previous version and they've been great. Merlin sell them, or if you want to try them on in store, then Evans also sell them. About £40
