This is the third year I have posted this this amazing deal!
At only £139, I really do feel that this break offers superb value for money, and now offers an even better choice of activities than before!! Plus the only dates which incur a surcharge, are Bank Holidays...leaving you free yo use this offer throughout any of the school holidays(avoiding B.Hols) with no financial penalty...happy days!!

The savings I have quoted are based upon a family of 4 sharing a hotel room(at the most expensive hotel) on 6th August 2016(school hols), breakfast and choosing the 3 priciest activities. Eg: Leicester Marriott with Twinlakes, Twycross and Space Centre.

I can thoroughly recommend these breaks...as I have been on them myself!! Any questions please ask! Will be loads of info on here to help you regarding booking your break and your options. Please note, it is not necessary to use all the attraction tickets whilst on the break....you may save them and use them later in the year(anytime after the date your room is booked) to save rushing things or to spread the fun out throughout the year.

2 adults and 2 children - £139*
The Stay Play Explore Family short break is a fantastic break that families of all ages are sure to enjoy.
For just £139* a family of 2 adults and 2 children can visit any 3 of these 10 exciting attractions and enjoy overnight accommodation including breakfast at a choice of 4 star family friendly hotels.
Larger families can buy an additional child ticket for £20, simply add the total number of children in your party to the booking form and your short break cost will be calculated. Additional nights incur an additional cost of £3 per night for extra children.

We stayed at the Hinckley....so I am unable to comment on the others. What I can say is that the Hinckley was very family oriented.....lots of kids about so you don't feel the need to keep shushing your own lol. Free Room Upgrade to Executive room. Buffet breakfast....good variety. Indoor pool (book in advance to avoid disappointment). Happy to provide us with a travel cot (take your own bedding). There were kids films being shown in a conference room. Easy to park. Wifi. Also easy access to Harvester and a couple of 2 for 10 type pubs for your evening meal(less than 5 mins) which you may wish to explore as the restaurant food was a bit pricey. Hope that helps

I have visited Twycross, Twinlakes and National Space Centre. The kids enjoyed them all. I particularly liked Twycross, lovely little Zoo with plenty to do and has been much improved recently in my opinion. The kids love the rides at Twinlakes (suitable for age 3-12 imo) and theres an excellent outdoor waterpark which they can have a whale of a time in whilst you kick back on a sunlounger! The Space Centre, would not normally be my thing at all. My daughter (11) loved it (but my 2 year old was a bit bored). I'd say this place is better for school age upwards, unless your little one is particularly space mad. What totally blew me away was the Planetarium...just awesome!

Great deal, did this last year (it was only £129 in 2015), stayed at the Marriott, really family friendly, kids got lots of treats from different parts of the hotel and the pool was lovely. There's a nice pub/restaurant a few minutes walk away.
Used our vouchers for Space Centre, Twycross and only used the last one at Twinlakes just after Christmas - great value deal

We done the space centre and zoo, we were staying at a hilton. Space centre is amazing but zoo was in the middle of building a few new enclosures at the time but still worth the trip in 2015. If you can, try stopping at the Richard 3rd battle field at bosworth on the way back from zoo.. The interesting bit is only a 5 min walk from carpark towards flags....we viewed battle field from information vantage point.... And a quick walk around information boards and giant sun dial and we were off back to hotel... Plan to visit battle fields again but looks like a few hours walking through via paths so not really my thing..

We’re not 2 adults & 2 children - can I still book a family break?

Yes, additional child tickets are available for each of the family short breaks. The majority of our partner hotels have family rooms which can accommodate 2 adults and 3 children. Two rooms may be required for larger families. Cots are available upon request on the booking form.

Entering the exact number of adults and (ages of) children on the online booking form will ensure that the appropriate basic short break cost is charged and the correct number of e-tickets are issued to your party. It is advised to check with the hotel if your booking is not for a standard short break, as additional breakfast charges or larger room type costs may be incurred which would be payable direct to the hotel on arrival/departure. Example combinations follow:

2 adults + 3 children = 1 x family short break/ticket + 1 x extra child ticket @ £20 + small charge may be applied for breakfast at some hotels

2 adults + 0 children = 1 x family short break/ticket as standard

2 adults + 1 child = 1 x family short break/ticket as standard

1 adult + 1 child = 1 x family short break/ticket as standard

1 adult + 2 children = 1 x family short break/ticket as standard

1 adult + 3 children = 1 x family short break/ticket as standard

3 adults + 2 children = 2 x family short breaks/tickets as additional room and tickets

2 adults + 4 children = 2 x family short breaks/tickets as additional room and tickets.

I know the Hinckley, Skechley Grange and Hilton Leicester have family rooms suitable for up to 5 people.

Sorry :disappointed:

What are you struggling with?
Cost £139
Choose your hotel
Book
Receive confirmation email including tickets for attractions
Go on your break
Have fun!

(any figures I have used throughout have been to show the true value of each part of the break. I have also added info on the hotels so that people can compare them, and choose what will be the best for them....same with the attractions)
Didn't mean to confuse you...

sorry if this is a daft question, but Is the value in this deal only for a 1 night stay? is it worth booking a second, or even a third night? 3 nights came out as 289 pounds for the dates I entered.
foxykelli to sufc77
15 Jan 16 #44
Worth booking a second night if you want to cram more activities into your break. It's £75 for each additional night stayed which includes breakfast(but not another set of tickets). We did our break over 2 nights. This gave us a chance to do all activities and get a Swim in at the health suite also. Prepare to be worn out lol!!

Hi Thanks for posting good deal. I have 3 kids (8, 5 and 3). When I tried to book Marriott for example and choose 3 children it is adding extra £17 but it is not allowing me to book saying the Room has maximum of 4 occupancy.
How would I book this deal? Can someone help please?

foxykelli to pippajohnst1207
16 Jan 16 #55
If you book 3 nights at the full £139 rate (you will need to book them as individual bookings) you should get 9 sets of tickets. If you book 3 nights on the same booking (to take advantage of the discounted rate of £75 per extra night) you will not receive extra tickets for the extra 2 nights booked, but breakfast is included.

We did this deal a while back and were very impressed. The hotel even put on a kids cookery lesson (which wasn't advertised but we happened to overhear and jumped on)

We were impressed that you could just turn up at the attractions and not book them beforehand. All very easy and simple.

We booked an extra night to fully enjoy the three activities.

16 Jan 16 #58
No....the break costs the same at £139 no matter which hotel you use unless....
a) Your booking includes a Bank Holiday which incurs a £20 surcharge
b) Your party is larger than 2 Adults and 2 Children which also incurs a surcharge for the room/extra tickets
With regards to the vouchers....they can be used anytime from the date of your hotel stay to the end of December 2016. No necessity to use them only during your hotel break, or at all on your hotel break if you don't want to.

Great effort Foxy! How do i select the attractions though please?
foxykelli to scottlee1
16 Jan 16 #60
Thanks! You don't need to select the attractions you want in advance....the tickets are generic and can be used at any of the attractions. They are barcoded, which will be scanned so cant be re-used. The vouchers need to be used at 3 different attractions. Don't forget that if you are using one for the Outdoor Pursuits Centre, you will need to book places on the activity of your choice in advance. Hope this helps

I stayed at the Hinckley with my family(the kids were 11 and 2). I found it to be very family friendly. Truthfully, it can be a bit boisterous at times as there were lots of kids staying(it was the school hols), so I wouldn't book there for a romantic weekend for 2 lol. However, if you are looking for a hotel that does a decent buffet breakfast, doesn't make you feel like you need to keep shushing your kids, has a swimming pool you can book to use(at no extra cost), has kids activities during peak kids holiday times....this will be the one for you. To be fair, it was a weekday we went and the hotel clearly has 'business people' who use it....who probably relish the peace and quiet away from home that they get whilst on business. I'd be looking at those negative reviews coming from some like that. Room was nice and bed comfortable, provided us with a travel cot too. Would I go back....yes I would

16 Jan 16 #75
Unfortunately the attractions are pretty spread out. There's not a great difference between the hotels to be honest. So...the distance between one attraction and the others may seem like quite a bit. It will also depend where you are coming from, because if you can visit the attractions further out from your hotel on the inbound/outbound journeys as you pass them...you can just pick the hotel you like the look of instead. Sorry not to be able to help more

These reviews are directly relating to the stay play explore breaks at that hotel:
Hotel is on a business park so quiet on the weekend, hence participating in the brilliant play stay explore scheme. They really make an effort to be family friendly over the weekend. It was incredibly good value for us as a family with 3 young kids. On both the Friday evening and Sunday morning we went for a swim in the lovely warm pool and there were only 2 other people there. The room was huge and very well soundproofed. We were near the lifts and couldn't hear anyone else. Check in staff were very friendly and they made a real effort with the kids. Our kids ended up with so many bags of sweets over the weekend! We asked for a glass of milk for bedtime on the first night and something went wrong so it only turned up nearly 90 minutes later after the kids were already asleep. The next day we got a card apologising, some free drinks and some more sweets. Very well handled. Breakfast was varied, room was quite and staff were again very friendly with kids. We tried room service on our second night, their kiddie menu was very reasonably priced. I find it odd that internet is not included in this hotel but we didn't actually have time to miss it as we were out all the time. There is free wifi in the lounge downstairs though. We had free parking over the weekend so that was good value as well.

We stayed here for my daughter's 7th Bday as part of Leicestershire's stay, play and explore package. The staff from reception, bar, restaurant, leisure club and house keeping were the best! They made such a huge effort to make the weekend special for my daughter. Everything was impeccable! The breakfast was 5*! And we are seasoned travellers! So happy to have made the right choice hotel for my baby's special day! 5* for Leicester Marriott and 10* for its staff!

Stayed here as part of a stay play and explore weekend. The staff where amazing, especially withe the kids, rooms and facilities were all good. food and service was all good but again the friendliness of the staff and their attitude to service was beyond compare,

Stayed for a three night break for wifes birthday under the stay play and explore package again. Last time we stayed at the Hilton who were booked up so decided to go with the Marriott and can truly say we were not disappointed, in fact they exceeded all our expectations. All staff we came across were fantastic and friendly from the receptionists, the concierge gentleman, the cleaners, the tattooed gym lad (sorry dont recall his name) and especially the breakfast restaurant staff who really went the extra mile. The chef was friendly and made a good conversation offering to taylor make my breakfast. Two members of staff who were outstanding were Shanika and Roxanne who got to know the children and really gave us top notch service. We spoke every day and they both really looked after us making life easy especially when you have two challenging children :-) we wish them the very best in their careers and studies. The fitness/pool area may be a bit outdated for some however for my needs was perfect. The hotel location was ideal for the three venues we visited as well as for other eating/essential family amenities. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and really recommend this very family friendly hotel to other families and guests.

Hope that helps

Sorry that you're having problems...I tried and am getting the same issue. I found this info:
What if the dates I want to stay are not available to book online?

You can contact your chosen hotel direct to enquire about availability if the dates are not visible on the short break booking grid. If they have availability then the hotel can update the booking grid themselves. You will then be able to book your break online as normal.

REMEMBER! Do NOT book directly with the hotel, as they will not be able to email you the Attraction Tickets. A lot of people made this mistake last year. If you are in any doubt or would rather not contact the hotel yourself, the Customer Service Team at Leicestershire Promotions will be able to advise you further 0116 225 4051 Open Monday-Friday 9-5.

Feels weird being a Hinckley resident that people come here for a break. Skechley grange and island are both very hotels. If you want to eat out here my recommendations.
Steak - Malt Shovel @ Hartshill (10 min drive) book for weekends well in advance for weekends and don't be put off by the exterior and first impressions of the pub.

Indian - Simlar on Castle streetHinckley

Italian - Cafe Latina or if you want a takeaway Ponchnellos (Order early on Saturday nights)

Chinese - Royal dragon on Horestone Grange . 5 min drive

Family - Hansom cab . Burbage

foxykelli

Would anyone know if I would have to pay for a extra child who is only 1 years old at time of stay and would need a cot? Would be 2 adults, 2 x 3-16yr olds and a baby....
The_Bounty_Bear
16 Jan 16 #96
If staying in Hinckley both there is not much in the taxi fares between the 2. If you are changing trains at Nuneaton for Hinckley your better off getting a taxi from Nuneaton rather than getting train to Hinckley and taxi from Nuneaton station (I live in Hinckley and drive to Nuneaton train station for work). I should have also mentioned.

Seafood - Barnacles directly opposite the Hinckley island on the A5 . Also walkable from sketchley grange. Pricey though.

You also have the Hinckley Knight (reasonable grill type food) and a harvester easily walkable from both. Each Reasonably good value.
The_Bounty_Bear
16 Jan 16 #97
Crikey my typing is naff tonight. Try again. If going via Nuneaton train station get taxi from Nuneaton train station don't bother getting train to Hinckley.. If going via Leicester station get train to Hinckley and taxi from Hinckley train station.
The_Bounty_Bear

In Hinckley either . Neither are really walkable in under 15 mins from Hinckley station. Taxi from station best bet
foxykelli
16 Jan 16 1 #99
Hi Hun. You don't pay for the baby. And the little one will go into all attractions free anyway so no extra tickets required. Just make sure you request a cot (if you want one on the hotel booking section). I don't think you even need to include the little one on your booking form(but I will check this and let you know as I had that info on last years post). Don't forget, if you ask for a cot to be provided most places expect you to provide your own bedding. We made this mistake and had to make makeshift bedding out of sheets that were around.

Hi...not been to the Hilton but there are some reviews on Trip Advisor...
http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g186334-d192633-Reviews-Hilton_Leicester-Leicester_Leicestershire_England.html
Click on 'Reviews' and then 'read reviews that mention Stay Play Explore'.
Breakfast is included on every night purchased through this promotion. So if you book 3 nights, you will be getting breakfasts on all 3 mornings.
I think you would struggle to fit Twinlakes and Space centre into one day. Space centre could take half to 2/3 of a day and Twinlakes 2/3 up to a whole day (especially if it is the weather for the water park). Don't forget, if you are booking for 3 nights (eg Fri, Sat, Sun) you can go to an attraction on your day of arrival also (if you are able to) as you will have the attraction tickets in hand. Any other questions, just ask
When I went previously(stayed at the Hinckley) there were no hidden costs. Only pay for any extra food or drink ie evening meals etc.

Your child under 3 doesn't count in the numbers as they are free in the attractions etc and can also eat in the hotel. Make sure you request a cot or take a ready bed etc for the under 3. (You will need to take your own bedding for the cot). You only need to buy 1 deal at £139 and pay the extra £20 for the attraction tickets for the extra child. Some hotels may also charge a small amount for the 3rd childs breakfast. There is more info here...

Thinking of Space Centre, Conkers and Twinlakes Park for our 2 boys. Just after a bit of advice, which of those are maybe not a full day...Space Centre? Hopefully leave early and pop there in the morning. Great deal though thanks

I woiuld say the space centre....if the weather is good Twinlakes and Conkers can be a whole day. You could do Space centre in 3-4 hours (make sure you go to the planetarium). Hope that helps....and have a fab time x

Enjoyed our break staying at the Hilton and going to Space Centre, Twinlakes and Conkers, despite the dodgy weather (seems like it was the only place in the country which didn't have the sun!!). Seemed like a few families staying in the Hilton were on that deal, room was large and breakfast had a lot of choice. Didn't dine in the hotel at night but there was a deal on in the week family of four for £40 in the restaurant so that might be of interest to some?

Does anyone know if I book a hotel stay for later on in the year, is it possible to use an attraction ticket before my stay? I know it says in the t&c's that they are valid from the date of the stay but do the tickets still work beforehand?
