Slightly better processor than the 5500 with 400 PQI on this.

Whats the difference between this and the Samsung UE43J5500 LED on Groupon at £339 plus 8% cashback via Quidco?

Was passing by Curry's today so popped in for a look at this TV. It is nice and was displaying a lovely pixel perfect super perfect sharp picture (had a USB stick in the back so guessing was playing a HD video). Does look lovely, but being in the market for a Samsung 40" or 43" isn't quite ticking my boxes (see my post #14).
extra £20 off that price for O2 customers using the £20 off £250 voucher code on priority moments app so I would say a bargain at £329

It’s a dominant electrical goods retailer with high street shops in most towns, but that’s not important right now.

Good price but an extra £30 gives you the higher spec UE40H6400 model (3D, 4 X HDMI) from JL with 5 years warranty.

That is a 2014 model and 3 inches smaller. Aren't the smart features better on 2015 Samsungs (now based on Tizen)?

I went and had a look in Currys today, the Samsung looks better in the flesh but I still wasn't convinced enough to buy and refuse delivery of the Sony. As you say, I can always return it if I'm not happy.

Not sure on Amazon returns. If you're not happy with it due to the above issues, I'd argue it's not fit for purpose and would take that approach. I'm going to persevere with mine I think as I like the picture and most of the time it works OK. It's not all as bad as some make out. No issues using Fire TV stick and Chromecast over HDMI. Doing a factory reset after the latest software update also helped reduce the slowdowns. Only other option at 42/43 inches is LG, but they use IPS panels so don't have great black levels. Next big software update is promised for Feb/March, so not too far away now. Think people who bought these TVs in March/April 2015 have had to put up with more issues, which is why so many bad reviews. If you aren't using Freeview then you might want to decline to enable YouView which lets you keep the Satellite tuner.

Been in the market for a Samsung TV recently, and there have been 2 different 40" / LED / Smart / 3D Tv's now at good prices in the last week, both with 4 x HDMI Slot ports.
That this bigger 43" TV only has 3 HDMI slots is poor.

Is it 50Hz or 100Hz?
Not interested in PQI nonsense. I switch that computer processing rubbish off. Just need the real Hz number.

Damn, I was afraid of that, the Sony just appeals to me more than the Samsung, I also don't like the look of the stand. I will be using mostly with external sources (Freesat, Now TV, PS3) and no Freeview as don't have an aerial.
Just got a dispatch email for the Sony, so will take a chance on it and will send back if not happy. Do you get 30 days to return with Amazon for a non fault return? I assume Amazon are pretty good about it too?

I've got the Sony 43W756C, which is the non-3D version of what you have ordered. It's nicely made with the metal frame and stand and the picture quality is great. Did look at the Samsung 5500 but needed 4 HDMIs and didn't like the plastic stand.
Can confirm that most of the stories about Android TV are true, and I have two main issues with mine: it becomes really sluggish after a few days, requiring a full re-boot, and lip-sync isn't great on the HD channels. The software update allowing it to record to USB has also been pushed back to March 2016. Unfortunately the slowdowns don't just affect the 'Smart' aspects of it - Android is so heavily ingrained that just changing volume or channel can take ages. Currently deciding whether to send it back, but there are very few options at 43 inches. Think the issues are worse on the 4K sets from what I can gather.

I'm interested in this tv, can anyone confirm if it has headphone socket as can't see it mentioned?

Yes, headphone socket and digital out which are independent of each other, so you can have a set of wireless headphones plugged into the headphone socket and a soundbar/amp on the digital out both working at the same time.

Sony KDL-43W807C, I ordered it on the Amazon lightning deal last week for a similar price to this but used no rush delivery as I was away. Not got it yet but trying to work out if I've made the right choice or to send it back, these tv's are getting such varying user reviews about the Android software

Go my Mum the 5500 for Christmas. An excellent TV. It was set up within minutes and looks superb. HD is very good but the suprise was the upscaling of SD Sky Channels which was excellent. The smart hub is also pretty good. This set should be marginally better with its 400 v 300 PQI.

Trying to decide between this and a Sony 43" with Android. Might go and have a look in Currys
