We ate a Tesco 'finest' Christmas pud, best before 2012 yesterday. Absolutely delicious. These keep for ages and just get better.

I would guess so, they seem to be having a flog off. 6 x mince pies are 10p today.

I love these post Christmas deals. I've been stocking up my cupboard for next year, so far I have 6 Christmas puddings , 2 Christmas cakes and 12 selection boxes all picked up in massive discount sales from various stores and I'm still on the lookout for more stuff so I'll definitely check out sainsburys on Monday.

I noticed the xmas puddings have a best before date of March 2016. Do you intend to freeze them?

Remind me not to come for christmas food at your gaff, it'll be all mouldy!
The only things that will be safe to eat for next year will be christmas puddings with alcohol in them if they don't contain alcohol then they will not keep..Many will get caught out by that one..lol

These are good, only had a date of March on them though, but I am sure they will be ok well past that.

they will last for years just in their sealed packets, because they have been steamed to cook them after being sealed.

Xmas puds will keep OK as will some Xmas Cakes, though they will keep better if they are not the iced ones.
Just leave them in the original wrappers, stick them in a tin or plastic box and store somewhere cool. We usually use Sweet tins(plastic now) and seal them with sellotape.

Just informed mother who does enjoy these and she's already stocked up. She also said these were never £12.50 - that price was for the very large ones. These are quite small. Suitable for 1.

No, don't freeze them, keep them in your cupboard, we buy this years then eat in 2 years time, this year we had 1 of 2 yrs old and it was fantastic, we do it all the time! Never buy it and eat it right then!

No they won't!
Only ones that will keep for longer are ones that contain alcohol!

lolololol clearly you have no idea what the steaming and sealing does.
take it from someone that's worked as a chef for the past decade, they will be fine for a few years.
if anything those with alcohol in will last for less time because the alcohol will react with the sugars in all the fruit, make gasses as they ferment and the seals will blow.

Just FYI the stuff I've purchased all have a Use By date between April 2016 - September 2017, 2 of the xmas puds are good until April this year but the rest of the stuff is good for well over a year. I found that the medium sized xmas puds have the longest use by date on them...its the huge ones that expire in a few months for some reason.
