If you are only paying 49p for a pair of pliers then you don't expect them to last for tough jobs do you?
You get what you pay for and like it or not these cheap tools have a place if you have no alternative and it's just a quick simple diy task around the home.
They are rubbish for definite... But so is a can of coke. 49p...

I hardly applied any pressure and mine bent, would've been better off using my nephews plastic ones

Buy Rolson, buy twice.
Shocking brand. Thankfully Rolson products are normally clearly labeled so you can avoid them.

You might as well put the 50p straight in the bin, I boought a pair of these as an add-on item a few months ago and the first time they were used the handles bent.

They are Rolson, so that's what I'd expect to happen. They may be drop forged, but out of chocolate.

I have to agree with this comment. I believe some of the Poundshops also sell Rolson pliers; I've bought a few in the past and they really don't hold well; they do bend and sometimes even break off at the connection to the handle.
If you need a pair of pliers for general, light DIY, this could probably work but for anything reliable stick to a decent brand like NWS, Knipex, Channellock, Klein, Irwin etc. You only need 2-3 pliers in your kit and these will last you a lifetime - you'll probably end up handing these down to your son/ daughter.
