I'd honestly held off from getting this, as there's been a few games this year that I've watched people get excited about, and they didn't gel with me. I'm also not a sports game person.
After watching Danny O'Dwyer on the Co-Optional Podcast describe the game, for the first time I was really interested. I'm paraphrasing his comment, but he said unlike sports games where it's "Press X to shoot at goal", in Rocket League, the momentum of a shot is actually determined by how I hit it. It gives me the feeling of playing a game in real life with my mates.
This suddenly made sense to me in that it wasn't really a football game in the sense that the FIFA games are.
Rocket League is already a very accessible price, but this was below my "what the heck" threshold.
Waow
I instantly got it. Like within 10 seconds of playing the game I understand why it's so fun and why people are enjoying it so much. They've got lightning in a bottle.
The car driving is fun and arcadey, but the ball physics are very understandable. Your mind instantly knows how the ball will play.
I will say that already I have a ton more fun playing with some friends rather than randoms. I have a couple of friends who are already quite good at the game and having someone who will actively set you up for a shot, when the team work works, it REALLY works. It sets off all those wonderful endorphins in your brain that say "You did good here!".
I love the game, it's probably going to take over as my new "I've got 15 minutes spare" backup game. It's easy to dip into for one match.
Love love love it.

I know, right? I grabbed it then too. I have it on PS4 as it was free with PS+, but needed it again. I'll never get that money back. RIP 81p.

Absolute bargain. It's my go-to game when I have 20 minutes (or sometimes a couple of hours) to kill.

I've been spoiled this year with games. Fallout 4 I'd been waiting years for, Witcher 3 was INCREDIBLE, and Rocket League was purely amazing. So so so so sooo much fun with it.
Rocket League's DLC (cosmetic but adds achievements) is on sale on Steam and GreenManGaming currently if you're interested.

I bought 2 of the packs, the Back to the Future one is amazingly thematic and spot on.

Game is worth every penny, even at full price.
DLC is optional as it's only cosmetic (cars, decals, paint types, trails etc)
Additional maps are free for everyone regardless of DLC content so the player base is not fragmented.

Just logged in to say this is a very fun game once you get the hang of it, plays nicely with an xbox 360 controller, bargain imo.

Is this game similar to Mario Strikers Charged on Wii, a highly underrated and enjoyable game.
The format seems similar, anyone with experience of both likes to share please?

I paid £15 half a year ago and at the time I thought I might have paid too much.
It may be a relatively basic game, but imo it's worth as much as any AAA game that's been released this year. Cracking game.

Well worth it, only got this a few days ago but struggling to put it down, definitely one of the games of the year,
Not terribly bothered that I paid a little extra from GMG, if this deal had been on at the time I would have gone with GMG regardless.
