​Ive still got a pretty strong second gen i5 so unless tech has major advancements I'll be fine for a good few years :stuck_out_tongue: I did a clean install to 8.1 when I first fitted my SSD and as much as functionality wise it is leaps and bounds ahead of 7, I have run into a few compatibility issues with my programs and I expect 10 to bring even more headaches in the short term. Don't get me wrong I like 10, every other computer including my laptop in the house runs it, but its a headache I don't need :smile:

Good find, OP. I just bought it on my normal Halifax debit card, there'll undoubtedly be some disproportionate charge for a computer converting Rupees to Pounds, but it'll still be miles cheaper than the cheapest UK option, which is currently about 25 quid and won't be ~£10 for ages.

I've just downloaded the game but for some reason it won't connect online to revalidation servers verify the purchase.

All it says is to click the download button (on an offline file which is massively useful...) for the "Enable Game.bat" and execute it, then restart the game to play.

That took me almost 2 hours..But Its downloading as we speak. I had to change my PC region in the settings so that when the store link directs you to your windows store app it matches up. Great spot....Heat.

purchased went through fine with debit card . just put random address in after changing pc settings to india . downloading , only gripe i have is not choosing which hard drive to put it on as i have 1tb SSD for programs and 2x4tb SSHD drives for games and other media .and its defaulted to the SSD drive .

Changed region to India, opened the store, clicked buy, asked me to add a payment method, added my normal visa debit. Just had to put in an Indian region from a drop down box and googled 'indian postcode' (just a 6 digit number) used my normal address for the rest. Got taken to the visa site to confirm but no problems and back to ms store and it was done. Started downloading. Switched my pc back to UK and it's still downloading.

Bit slower than Steam's d/l speeds but that's my only minor gripe ;D

I had the same problem - after a big of digging I discovered that this is because I have "Defer Updates" ticked in the Windows Update settings. I thought this was just a way of stopping Windows from hogging my internet connection when I don't want it to, but it also seems to prevent some updates from appearing when you manually check for updates :/

If you untick "Defer Updates" and then force another check for updates, it finds the 1511 update.

Thanks, although in my case Defer Updates is unticked, so really no idea why it's not showing up. I would have tried ticking it, rebooting, then unticking it to see if that worked, but already started a download using the Media Creation tool, will see how that goes.

Thanks for this - very easy. Apparently I had never had to setup my debit card's online payment gateway thing which asked me to confirm my post code as part of the setup. I was therefore surprised when the order went through successfully despite having just entered an Indian postcode on the MS store!

Revolut has the added benefit of using decent exchange rates. The likes of Paypal or certain credit/debit cards use terrible exchange rates or even charge fees for foreign transactions.

The bit that confused me was changing the Region & Language settings in Windows 10 to India otherwise it was defaulting to the UK store when I clicked the purchase button on the India store website.
I used a VPN when making the payment but unclear if this is needed.

How to set the Store to save apps to a different disk drive: Go to Start, type "Settings" and select it, go to storage change "Apps Save to" to your drive of choice.

How I bought with my Halifax Mastercard: Change your Windows 10 region to India in the language and region settings in Windows 10. I used my Halifax Mastercard. Set it up with my home address but the region and postcode were set to India. Then got declined...got a text from Halifax asking if it was me, said yes, they said to wait ten minutes, tried again, and now I'm downloading the game!

Just started the Ukranian download, and the gamne is listed under my uk account (the normal one so best not get banned) however I am wondering, once you purchase and activate a game can you change the region back and start the download again? it should download from your local region which ought to be faster.

- Windows 10 download progress bar does not accurately display progress.
- Due to a UI issue download progress may not be accurately displayed (despite downloading without issue).
- When pausing and resuming the download, it may appear that the download has reset (appears to start from 0). However, actual download progress has not been affected.

So it is downloading it just doesn't show it correctly haha. I use Netbalancer (tells me whats using my bandwidth and how much) and at the moment my download is on 0.1% yet Netbalancer is showing it is downloading at 2.2MB/s (Megabytes) - my max is about 3.4MB/s so its downloading pretty fast from what I was expecting.

Due to Denuvo protection there will be more people buying these games, as they won't want to wait 6 months to a year for a crack. I usually just wait anyway until the price drops. There should be a level playing field, but economics of location forces the hand of the sellers. I don't think there's anything wrong as long as you pay a fair price. The determinant of a fair price has a model somewhere between humble bundle and retail price.

Here we go again. One small typo on a post where you are questioning the deal and you get your entire intellect ridiculed. To buy this game you will need to make up an Indian address where you supposedly live. I don't care about loop holes in the system which makes this no more illegal than flying to India, buying the game as a tourist then flying back. If you say you are living at an address in a country you have never visited then that is fraudulent behaviour in my opinion.

How do you buy bloody addons on the microsoft store? This company is so retarded, even the process of choosing addons is incredibly difficult/impossible.

I've both Steam and Microsoft store version installed. Steam version is installed via family sharing.

There are slight differences to the menu between Steam and Microsoft store versions.

In Display - Steam has Exclusive full screen mode and the option to turn Vsync off. Both options are absent on the Microsoft store version.

Why should I be quiet? It's my opinion and I thought I'd share it. I don't mind running a game at super low settings, but one thing I cannot do is play at 30 fps. To me it feels laggy. If people are expecting this game to run smoothly like on a low end PC, they should know it's locked at 30fps.

Just looked at my statement £6.67 from Ukraine

Anyone confused, change your PC settings from wherever you are to India. Change the time too, if it helps. I did for good measure. Then the store should automatically change to india. Then, you proceedd on buying it. I used my UK debit card but dropped in a random indian address that I found on google. and kablam! it didn't work. Tried it again, it worked. Now you can revert back to UK in settings again and when you search the game it should just say "install". Done.

For those wanting to add the game to steam... You need to change the permissions for the windowsapp folder on the system drive even if the game is installed to a windowsapp folder on another drive. Once you've changed permissions on the one in C:/program files you point steam to there and the there is a shortcut in that folder to the install files on another drive.

Are you paying using a VPN? With Xbox deals I cannot pay with Revolut without using a VPN. Further back it appears India doesn't need a VPN but Ukraine might.

Try logging out of the store. Connect to the relevant VPN, login to the relevant store and then try purchasing with Revolut.

As for address, I use my normal UK details but choose a local country town and City - using the right format for the City postcodes and telephone numbers.

Something curious: since when I switched to plusnet my Steam's download speed has always been capped to 2.6mb/s but from Microsoft store I'm downloading at 7.2mb/s, the max possible with my line.

Also, just to be safe, after purchasing the game I immediately removed the card from my payment methods on MS's website. You never know.

For those asking about the DLC - once you have installed the game there is an in-game menu where you get the free DLC and can purchase any others. The season pass is 17 quid on the Ukraine store! almost 3x the price of the game haha! I bought the latest Baku DLC as its supposed to be good, but it was about 6 quid - so not much saving.

I'm pretty sure this must be a pricing mistake tbh since the Baba Yaga DLC on it's own costs almost as much as the game.

For me it's the opposite. Steam usually maxes out my bandwidth but this download is crawling along the ground.

I posted a link before. It's known the download counter isn't correct. It will be downloading it just doesn't show the correct % or bar progress. Took me about 2 hours to download. Has all patches and updates included too so when you buy the Baku dlc it just activates because it's part of the default download

Have you tried changing the download location that STEAM uses, there is a way in the settings you can do this on STEAM, choose a different location and see if it changes

Its not a DX12 game at all it works fine on windows 8 if you buy on STEAM. DX12 is W10 exclusive in fact there is no DX12 major releases just yet and none planned for 2016..

Wont work on 8.1 - even on 10 you need ot have the november update so you are on the very latest version of 10 - this is why it was advertised before release as 'coming to windows 10 PCs' - because it was on about the store, even though everyone thought that meant the OS had to be 10 to run. (if you are on 10 (v1) or lower then Steam is the only other place you can get it.

Seeing as GOW and fable are coming on the store, I wouldn't be surprised if Halo 3 finally comes out but on the store so you have to update - like how Halo 2 came to PC but you needed Vista to play it.

Works like a charm with revolut. If you are buying on windows 10 switch your region to india first before buying to get price on store otherwise when you click buy it will show UK price. Other than that this trick works great!

It supports DX12 though and it wouldn't surprise me if the Windows Store version removed the DX11 support feature since it technically doesn't need to be backwards compatible with DX11.

Only uses DX12 for volumetric lighting.. So not really gonna drop DX11 support since the whole game pretty much uses it. The reason being its an advanced port of the Xbox version which uses a custom DX11 and doesn't have DX12 support just yet either.

Guys, once you installed game can you put your pc region back to United Kingdom, also what about future patches and expansions dlc ? will you have to change region you reckon.

​Mines an stock i5 2500k (was cheaper at the time, but I'm on a h61 board so can't over clock until I get around to swaping it out) and the graphics card is still the bottleneck if there is ever one. The software just still isn't utilising all the cores fully and wont do for ages I reckon.

The shutting off thing I've had with my laptop, rarely seems to ever fully shut down (I know because fast boot is off and it still doesn't load the BIOS splash screen) which is an annoyance. I'll probably make an image of my current windows 8.1 install and do a windows 10 at somepoint. As an OS in general windows 10 is brilliant, and if the software people use works on it the upgrade is a nobrainer really!

Check your Windows 10 is upto date (build 10586).

As I said above a few times. It's not got a slim chance of working on windows 7 - this Xbox live version of the game is impossible to work on windows 7. It needs to be on the latest win 10 as it uses the Xbox app to sign you in. Things that literally are not in 7 or 8.1. The game works fine on win 7 - but only the steam version.

Been downloading since 2pm. Crawling along 22gb of 24.5gb complete. Much slower than Steam's servers.

This is driving me insane. I can't find where the godforsaken game stores the godforsaken save games. It has crashed on me 3 times and I have lost the saves. I don't know if these are stored online or not. Also when I tried to use a trainer to get back the 2 hours I wasted TWICE as the game just shut down, it obviously wouldnt work as the godforsaken game works in a godforsaken container on godforsaken windows 10.

Does anyone know how to not use containers? or use trainers with the game? or at least where the saves are so I can back them up? PLEASE HELP, it's wastedmy whole day.

You can't. There is no exe as such. You have to run off your start menu or create a shortcut from there to your desktop - you won't be able to run it via steam I don't think.

I have now spent an hour or so again and the game suddenly crashed. When I logged back in the game said data syncing and it made me start from the beginning. Previous save deleted. It doesn't even give you the option of saving the game locally or online. Well done Microsoft, I was thinking you'd learned from the hideous GFWL debacle, should have learned my lesson.

Now we go back to waiting for a decent crack or till I can family share my friends steam version and partially crack it. What a disappointment.

I downloaded the India version earlier today so missed out on Ukraine version but can't complain at a brand new game being less than a tenner. Presumably Windows store auto updates titles so that crash issues are eventually patched out? Also, does running the game as administrator help with save games?

My download isn't actually as slow as I was expecting it to be. At 3.0GB after about 10 mins, which might not be Steam speeds, but it's still not bad for a 30GB connection. It still feels faster than PSN.

Good luck getting a crack, Just Cause 3 uses Denuvo v3 protection and that's not cracked yet. Rise of the Tomb Raider uses Denuvo v4. Even when V3 and V4 are defeated it will still take months to 'crack' each game. I don't think there's a stable version of MGS5 yet even which is also Denuvo protected.

Excellent find and I purchased like everyone else using some random indian post code and state. Is anyone have any problems using a wireless xbox 360 controller with this game though?

Don't know why people are still using the Indian method when the Ukraine option brings it down to 6.40, which is what it cost me.

I know :disappointed:. This is terrible. Thinking about it now I would have gladly paid £39 quid on steam. I still might but now its the principle of the thing. If only the microsoft system was not such a shambles - then again to be fair because its a bit of a shambles we were able to get the game in the first place. It would all be fine if it didn't keep crashing losing me hours of gameplay. The worst bit is it runs, I play it for a few hours, save the game. Then it suddenly crashes. When I reboot it, it crashes again and when re-booted it says its syncing data (which I assume is uploading saves, deleting the ones before). When rebooted for the third time it starts off as a fresh game requiring me to re-start from the beginning.

I sincerely hope denuvo gets cracked sooner rather than later. It's not the piracy element but the freedom of cracked games. Afterall, all these companies think they know whats best for you and implement systems which work agianst you like in this situation. I see why MS are using containers but how on earth does that help when the game crashes. I mean FFS I can't even use afterburner or fraps to guage the fps due to the container element of it.

Oh and as someone above suggested move the game to another drive, I have now moved games to two drives and created three folders on those drives which I cannot delete even though I have moved the game back. Hideous, simply hideous.

I'm not the best person to explain it really, but Denuvo is an anti tampering protection, you can't crack it and then every game on that Denuvo version is cracked, each game even with the same version of protection will take months to defeat and even then they aren't as stable as the retail release.

I know what it is. I just hope someone finds a workaround, afterall a partial crack for the game is already online but it requires authenticated files to be installed first. Also as for denuvo being "uncrackable" I wouldn't trust 3dm farther than I can throw them. They have probably been approached and paid off to not crack the system, like the new ios folk who proclaim they have done it but don't release it. Why do you think they announce it openly? So they can be approached to be bought. Just a theory but makes a lot of sense once you think about it. Great now I am wasting time on here than in game. Gonna go live my real life lol. That's not a real exe file. You can't run the windows App Store files directly. They just bring up an error. When you look at the shortcuts in the start menu they don't point to an exe file, they point to a folder.

I've already tried the exe file, you can't link it in steam. Just run it then alt tab and pin to your task bar, make a shortcut on desktop or run it from the start menu - just don't think yo will be able to add it to your steam library :smiley:

It will be a real exe file because the Steam version has the same filename. It just seems to be Microsoft's weird app DRM at work unfortunately.

Is anyone else having problems with saving the game? My game won't save at all... had to replay 3 times and got quite far.

Doesn't seem to be saving at all! Comes up with the icon that shows its saving but doesn't actually create a save file... Trying to find out a way to solve it but can't find anything :disappointed:

I've not had any issues at all with saving. But i've been manually saving by going to the menu and selecting save - I don't like relying on autosave. Each time i've loaded it up the save is there and continues fine

I bought this for the xbox I the Christmas promotion. Ruined by the choppy 30 fps and awful input lag. Bought this again on this promotion on a whim, really glad I did. The graphics are outstanding and at 60 fps at max settings it's a different game. Had to turn off sli though as was getting awful shuddering with dual 970's.

Does anyone know of the cheapest region for the DLC? The DLC prices on the Windows 10 Store are ridiculous. They're even worse than the prices on Xbox Live.

The Ukrainian version works fine and defaults to English BTW.

Apparently that method with creating the batch file works. It's a lot of hassle though.

I've changed my system to 'Ukraine' and correctly see the Ukrainian price in the store and price isn't greyed out. I click to buy and am prompted to log-in. When I add my details I get the message "Give it another try. Something went wrong".

Seems to be the same if I try to log into the UK store or Indian store so not sure what's up. I have all Windows updates installed and on W10 version 1511.

Just to rule out a problem with my account I've just set up a new one but still the same problem...

I couldn't even get that far. The message came up as soon as I was prompted to sign-in after clicking the buy button.

I have my computer set up with a local user account rather than using my outlook account for sign-in. I thought that might be the issue so changed it to log-in with my outlook account 'credentials'. Made no difference and still got the same error message.

As a last resort I decided to try setting up a new user on the PC again using my outlook account for log-in. For some reason that worked fine and I've now been able to buy the game...no idea why but it works so I'm not complaining :smiley:

Changed to Ukraine, gone into the store and everything is as it should be - windows is latest and I am able to purchase. I've entered the details for my Revolut card I just bought, with a random address in Ukraine as the address details. They took a 25p payment which is "pending" - no joy buying the actual game.
Changed the address details to my home address, but with the postcode/state from the Ukraine location - again a 25p validation charge, but it refuses to accept my payment.

Just says "Can't process payment"

Any suggestions? Wasn't expecting to have this much difficulty!

EDIT: Have also just tried using one of my existing cards and a different Ukrainian address. Once again, no success "Can't process payment". No one has required a VPN for the ukrainian store right?

It gave me a similar message when I launched the game this morning for the first time and it was trying to log into Xbox Live. I just tried again though and it worked the second time around.

Yes, I thought it might be a temporary blip like you've experienced but it was doing the same last night. Suspect there may be something in the profile that's been mucked up so I may try a clean W10 install and see if that does the trick.

I got mine to open through Steam using the same method as above, it only takes a few minutes to set up. However, if you're doing it for the Steam overlay or FPS counter, don't bother; neither work (both work with other, non MS Store programs I have added to steam as non-Steam games).

Would doing the below (batch to exe file to add it to Steam) mean that this could be played via a Steam Link with a Steam Controller?

I wonder if there's any way to get around that. I know to get Titanfall to show up in Steam I have to close Origin and then launch Titanfall directly from Steam and that enables the Steam overlay.

When I first launched it temporarily locked up because of the connection to Xbox Live thing. That was on a Square Enix copyright style screen though.

If Steam Link is just pulling through a list of installed games from your Steam library, then I don't see why not. That said, I don't see why the Steam overlay and FPS counter don't work, so I wouldn't be too sure.

It'll launch from Steam just fine, it shows up in my Steam library and launches without fail. It's just that even when launched from Steam, the Steam overlay and FPS counter don't show up, sadly.

I don't even know how well the game itself runs, I'm still playing The Witcher 3 so I haven't got further than the main menu (just to check the game opens okay) on ROtTR...too many games, not enough time :stuck_out_tongue:.

I've given up on trying to get this...all I have succeeded in doing is putting 12 pending payments onto various credit cards...and spent 2 hours of my time...

Has anyone got this working today 2-2-16 ? I keep getting an error on the payment section. Even using revolut and VPN.

Changed my location to Ukraine and got it for just over £6 using my paypal credit card. I bought this yesterday though so cant say if its still working.
The game itself is great and runs really smooth on my i7 2700k and hd7950.
My only issue since its purchased through the microsoft store is i cant add it to steam. Not an issue for most but i have a steam link and planned playing it on that.

It's some BS that Windows Store. "Can't process payment"... Yeah, but no problem taking £0.25 / £0.03 (depending on which store you use) each time you attempt to buy it!

Thanks i tried this but couldnt get it to launch, the exe will just open a cmd prompt but no tomb raider. Using C:\\Users\myusername\Desktop\Rise of the Tomb Raider.lnk I must be doing something wrong but i'm not sure what.

Rename your "Rise of the Tomb Raider.LNK" shortcut something like "RotTR.LNK" so it doesn't have any spaces in, I forgot to mention that in my original post, sorry. You can rename the exe you end up creating back to the full name and it still launches fine.

Oh and the bat to exe I used was from here: http://www.f2ko.de/en/b2e.php

I don't know if that's the one you used, or if it even makes a difference, but that one I can confirm works and is the only other thing I didn't mention :smiley:.

Really having trouble with this. I've bought stuff on foreign Xbox stores before, but this just refuses to work.

I get payment failed no matter what I do. Tried multiple cards including Revoult, tried with and without VPN. Even tried it with both Ukraine and India, both leads to the same "we can't process your payment" message.

Just joined to add that I had a bit of trouble installing this. Managed the purchase fine using my TSB card and following the instructions.

Downloading the game however was something entirely different. Turns out the game would only install onto my Windows 10 boot drive, which I had changed to my 3TB HDD under settings, where I store my steam games. After changing back to the The Windows boot drive it downloaded no problem.

Nope, started up fine, played a few hours and completed 7% of the game (not much I know), saved the game and quit out. Looking at the main menu, my two options for continue and load game are still blacked out! No matter what I do I can't seem to load my game save. The tile on the windows start menu I created even says "continue tomb raider - 7% complete", but when I start up the game there's only the option for a new game.

Looking online I don't seem to be the only one having this problem (and on this thread!), but I've yet to see a solution.

Still a great deal for the price though providing it gets fixed soon so I can actually play it.

I'm definitely doing it right, but neither the Indian or the Ukrainian way works, Error Processing Payment with Revolut or my normal Card.

There must be other people out there with this problem. Seems like it should be something that's pretty easy to fix. No idea why it happens though.

Ok, so tonight I tried starting a new game and as soon as I started checked to see what happened if I selected save game. Went into the save game option on the pause screen and my old save was still there.

I quit out to the main menu and now I can select load and continue. Strange, but happy times!

It's only worth it if you don't have two graphic cards. The MS Store version does not have any SLI scaling, you can't disable vsync and overlays don't work with it so forget about any fps counters. There is a workaround which seems to enable SLI scaling but it makes the game flicker like mad in some places. Also, the latest patch, which fixes SLI issues and some glitches with pure hair, has been rolled out to all Steam users but the MS Store users are still waiting for it.

I first tried how you said. Denied. Then I used the special Revolut card and changing my whole sistem IP to Ukraine, that didn't worked either. When you tried buying the game. Did you used your real Name or you used a fake Ukraine Name? I used my name with a Ukraine Adress.

I still require help, kind of bummed that it doesnt work and I put money on that virtual card.

Update is on the MS store people. Just look for tomb raider in the UK or your region and the 'purchase' button now says update.

Yep, guessing. I've gotten so used to 60 fps that it becomes very apparent when I drop under it. The indoor areas are all steady 60fps, but when I go to the open world parts it tanks - wouldn't be surprised if it's hitting 35fps in certain parts!

Don't think you can use PayPal as it will look at the address and it could be a faff. Debit cards may charge currency fee but that depends on your card and rates, at most it won't be more than a quid.

If it's doing an error it most likely hasn't set the address right or you may have to use a vpn (I didn't for a co op debit card).

Rename the shortcut something with no spaces in (RotTR.LNK, for example). I believe that the batch file gets confused if the shortcut name has spaces in it.

Anyone been able to make ingame transactions through the Ukraine lately? The store just closes at the final confirmation for me. Looks like it might be checking your region against your ip address or something at that point.

Actually, I can't buy any DLC from the Ukraine, India (where I bought the base game), or the UK. Is there a way to buy it outside the game itself?

Just realised though, it was with my Mastercard (Credit Card) - the image above shows the address and what not. No Vpn, just purely changing the region and letting the store refresh itself. So this is still possible but it may depend on the card you use. (I know this is the Go game and not the rise of TR game, but its the same principle - I bought Rise of last week like this)
