A lot of people don't like that website (I've had no problems with them personally) and their 5% off Facebook app seems to be getting more and more complicated these days.

really looking forward to this, loved the first one, the uncharted style romp is much more fun than the style of the original games IMO. First game was crazy well optimized as well so fingers crossed this is too.

I've played the XB1 version and don't think it's anywhere near as good as the 2013 one unfortunately.

that's ok, £20 for 10 hours of michael bay-esque action sequences should whet my appetite.

The XB1 version seems to have a lot of technical issues as well to be fair. It took me 5 minutes to get a quicktime/special option to appear so that I could cut a rope on it last week. I needed to cut that rope to finish a puzzle so the game effectively trapped me.

I imagine this is going to drop quite a bit due to the Nvidia promo going on, great price though and I'm looking forward to the game so I'll give it heat
I played the 360 version and thought it was better than the 2013 game, albeit slightly and that seems to be the general consensus from the critics

I wouldn't touch the 360 version with a 50ft pole personally but I don't know how people could have thought that this was better than the 2013 game. They're actually very similar but this one seems to have more technical issues and I've personally found the story to be a lot less interesting.

The key word in there is 'personally'. It's obviously proved a successful game, IGN raves about it, 86 Metascore, and most reviews say how it is a successful sequel to it's predecessor. It's IGN and Metascore is actually higher than that of 2013's.
I'm currently playing 2013 on PC, and I cannot wait for Rise on PC. Heat added to this deal.

How would you touch something with a 50ft pole? You would have to be incredibly strong to wield such a pole.

its looks great on the xbox 360 considering the 10 plus year hardware its on, the port was outsourced and whoever did it did a great job, read the eurogamer digital foundry tech analysis of it, from a graphics output to hardware ratio perspective it really is impresssive

It's an aluminium pole so it's quite light.

IGN rave about CoD every year so I wouldn't read too much into anything that they say tbh.

Never had a problem with the site or getting the 5% code from Facebook (you have to be logged in, as it's a personal code, but that's no big deal). In fact I've had more problems with Simply - some worryingly long wait times and occasionally orders haven't come through at all and I've had to cancel and re-order, although sometimes the game was then out of stock and I've missed out.
That said, I do trust both sites and would happily buy from either. But this game is £20.99 on CD Keys so presumably £19.95 with the code so personally I'd go with them and save the £2.
Looking forward to the game though! Really enjoyed the last one and this looks even better. Still got Fallout 4 to finish and a ton of games from the winter sale and I'm still considering pre-ordering this!

I really enjoyed the first but I found the characters and story incredibly lacking and I thought Rise improved upon that a lot while having larger environments to explore, more tombs, more options for taking down enemies, I thought it was much much better than the first to be honest, it did have a few framerate drops on the XBO version for me but that was about all the issues I had with it.
Waiting to see what the PC version will be like before buying that version though.

He had got a point as pre ordering is damaging for the industry.
If u get payed a large % of the total sales upfront then what incentive is there to finish the game.
I remember back in the day when games where fully finished and put on tape, cartridges, cd , DVD and blu Ray. Christ I remember when we use to type 8 pages of programming code from magazines to get games before tapes. I'm getting old :disappointed:

Regardless, I feel that it should be up to people to decide what to spend their money on and how to spend it. I often pre-order PC games especially because there is an element of risk and pre-orders can therefore be cheaper than buying the game at launch.
Occasionally that has come back to bite me in the **** (*cough* Arkham Knight) but most of the time things work out OK and as a working adult I can afford to take that risk anyway.
What I don't like are hordes of YouTube and Twitch idiots telling me how to spend my money and using a few bad apple publishers as a way to market their own crappy channels and twitter feeds.
Spark

I think I personally preferred how the first one was more narrative driven and controlled in an Uncharted/Last of Us or interactive movie-style of design whereas this game is more open-world and there are enough games like that out already (and a lot of others like GTA V do open-world much better).

You are totally right it is your money and u can spend how u please. I was just saying he had a point that pre ordering does damage the industry as I have lived in a time before preordering so have witnessed it. I understand it's cheaper it's just these greedy publishers know all the marketing tricks as they have had about 30 years experience. But yeah it's your money so do as u please because I know I will haha

Yeah I can definitely see that, I'm eager to play some more linear games for sure, far too many that are open world.
It's partly why I loved playing through The Order 1886 so much last year, it was so refreshing to play a linear game.
Spark
15 Jan 16#30
I'm someone who prefers linear games these days if I'm honest. A lot of open-world games tend to be quite empty and are just a way for developers to make a virtual sandbox and essentially leave the player to make a game for themselves (e.g. Just Cause). I've also found that this game suffers from Assassin's Creed syndrome, where it's constantly trying to distract you from the main questline with mundane tasks like hunting, area clearing and fetch quests.
All in all, I much preferred the 2013 game but that's just my opinion. I finished that one in a weekend because I could barely put it down whereas I've had this one since November and still haven't finished it.

It depends on how you look at it. What marketing departments want you to do is order full price from somewhere like Game, ShopTo or Amazon and in return for your risk and investment they will give you a free in-game hat.
If that's what you mean by pre-orders then yeah, sod that. My route is to pre-order cheap from an online seller like CDKeys who have access to a bunch of cheap copies and offer a financial incentive for getting in before the game comes out. Through that I've managed to get games before release for around £10. If you go to the same website on release weekend then you will be paying at least double that.
Case in point, key websites are currently selling The Divison for around £20 or less. Check again on March 8th and you will probably be looking at prices of around £30, regardless of how the review scores turn out.

Can't disagree with that! I think Rise struck a balance between open and linear that just worked for me.
Same with The Division alpha that I played last month, it had a really nice balance of open and linear and I absolutely loved it so I suppose it just depends on how well the open world is designed for me.
