I've just been to Sainsbury (Christmas Eve) and cashed my nectar in ....For 2 years I got £40. Before that it was between 70 and 80 a year. Nectar points aren't worth it any more. Aldi, Lidl and Asda for me now

I've been in a few times and I don't like it.
Nothing wrong with the quality of the food, etc... and the prices are good, but my experience has always been claustrophobic - constantly bumping into others in the crowded/narrow aisles, staff restocking shelves with boxes everywhere (and almost pushing you out of the way to get to them), having your shopping thrown at you at the till whilst they scan your items, and having to pack your shopping on a crappy shelf near the tills, etc...

I get why its like that, so I have no problems with it - its just not for me. I prefer a more relaxed shopping experience, so will happily pay a bit more for it.

I always end up spending my nectar points on ebay or argos so miffed that they've reduced the number of points collected per £ spent but they're not totally useless. ...

Do you honestly believe that Sainsbury, Tesco, Asda, Marks and Spencer are all using their very own suppliers for every item they sell? That they all source, bake, pack and distribute each and every item they sell. And that those products are unique to that chain?

Or is it just possible that some of the stores use the same suppliers, the same ingredients, sell the exact same items but they just put their own label, or own 'twist' on the product?

If you honestly believe that the extra 50p you spend on 4 apples, or bread, or fish cakes is spent in its entirety on the increased quality of the product you are purchasing and not on the marketing, overstaffing, pensions, Express stores, online offering, huge stores, increase range (thereby more waste) then you have successfully been blinded by branding.

The only people who dont like Aldi for at least some things, are people who have never been in.

I have been to Aldi and didnt like their customers, their quality of products. Maybe it is cheaper but I am a picky eater so as my family so we do not eat every s..t what you can buy there.
Same to lidl. Have you tried their mozarella cheese? It is just plain awful. Does not melt and it is like you chew a chewing gum.
I do not think I am snob but I do eat quality food and this is what you cannot get at aldi or lodl. Sorry but this is my opinion

I blame it on parents on their parenting skills. Little Britney's & Brats left off the hook treating their local supermarkets as playgrounds. Manners & respect must be taught at young age. Rugrats are like sponges who are quick to learn parents' bad habits & mannerisms which could reflects on their development & lifestyles growing up. Funny thing is though is that even grown ups can be just as bad as young kids in any society.

You may have noticed that Lidl's self serve fresh bakery sections will have shelves even at adult knee height compare to Morrisons at adult upper body height. Just gross & can't think of a better way to say to rugrats, come & play with me, squeeze me, crush me, bash me, hug me or lick me.

26 Dec 15 #43
You want to see our Morrisons self select bakery section...will never buy anything again from any supermarket self serve since I watch some child take a product out of a basket, lick it and put it back..all while parents stood idly by. Same goes for self serve unwrapped sweet stalls and salad bars...disgusting places.

Well, it's like buy with more money than you would from Tesco or Asda and then Sainsburys gives you back a bit more. When you work out the 4 times restaurant deals, it might be better shopping with Tesco. However, tt helps and it cheers you up no end, especially when you know other less discerning people are paying more than you. Happy New Year!

Same here however it does not make me to go to aldi or Lidl. Those points are just bonus and not to mention of quality if you compare it to aldi or lidl

Saw a woman's snot nosed kids picking up almost every pastry in a Lidl once, and she kept telling them to put them back. Greasy child-germs over everything. Wouldn't touch anything from a bakery that's open to the general public like that.

A few months ago I saw a woman customer at the M&S Bakery pick a bag up off the floor and place it on top of the fresh scones.
Having just been in the gents and was standing in front of the display near where she picked up the bag, I decided never to buy anything from an in-store bakery again.
I did tell the bakery assistant and she binned the scones though.

I really do hate those kinds of people who touch bread/donuts and other kinds of baked foods with their filthy hands. For Lucifer's sake use the plastic bags for the baked goods or the damn tongs that are there to be used!

Couple of weeks ago I saw a woman using her bare hands and when an employee told her not to she said 'But others were doing it'. *smh* Two wrongs doesn't make it right. http://backcountrypost.com/addedsmilies/facepalm.gif

Haha food snobs galore in here. I'm just going to put it out there that the quality of the fresh meat in Lidl is not only usually cheaper but also far superior to that of the big 4 supermarkets. And Lidl's fresh bakery section is fantastic. They're the main 2 things I buy from Lidl.
veedubjai to sidog
26 Dec 15 3 #31
For the extra points, it's a bonus, ffs it's free.

Lidl bakery is just as nice as Morrisons imo but what grinds me is the type of dirty snobs who are very picky at what they really want & can't stop touching the fresh baked instore stuff with their bare dirty mitts squeezing them before changing their minds & putting them back. Use the fecking tongs, that's what they're for. I've seen them do it & just walk pass like they don't give a hoots.

Same applies to those inconsiderate snobs who cough & wheeze over them.:disappointed:

Audi, Lidl have certainly marketed well. It isn't as great as people make out and yes I go often as its next door to me. Had fish that has gone off before the expiry date. No self service, pretty much no customer service. I don't find them any cheaper for what I buy and would pay more to shop in other stores. Best thing about them is the diy, house section in the middle of the stores.

Totally agree with you, aldi and lidl are terrible, food quality is terrible. Wouldn't feed it to a dog.

26 Dec 15 #11
theres nothing wrong with Aldi, i hardly do any shopping there but i do go in just to see, usually the fruit and veg are very cheap and quality is much the same as any supermarket. also do good offers on non-food items, although they are not the best but are usually good enough and very cheap compared to brandnames, but bear in mind you get what you pay for with these. dont buy a medion expecting a macbook.
Bagainbuster2015 to sreenireddy
26 Dec 15 1 #23
Just to say Aldi stock a higher grade of veg than other super markets. Aldi use grade A. Tescos sainsburies and asda grade B whilst morrisons uses Grade C

I had £80 last year and spent it at Christmas . This year I have been twice to Sainsbury and done all my shopping at Aldi yet u still managed to rack up £20 nectar points. All I do is load up on any bonus point offers and get points that way.

Just waiting for the next double up event to spend them now
