Very good, it calibrated at about 15% gain on my Onkyo 609 & vibrates most of the doors in my house when up full.

You haven't turned the volume up enough on the sub. Move it up a bit and recalibrate, you should be able to get 0db with some tweaking.

Verdict
The 2000i’s epic performance and delectable design make a mockery of the sub-£700 price tag and cements Q Acoustics’ status as one of the best affordable speaker brands around.
Soooo tempted at this price having the recently posted Tannoys being not available.

The Q acoustics are bookshelves - don't forget to add around £50 for a pair speaker stands or Q acoustics charge £15 for each wall mount kit (these speakers are difficult to mount on 3rd party wall mounts because of their "custom" design)

23 Jan 16#20
Just bought these as been swaying on previous 399/379 price for weeks. Richer sounds do the wall mounts for 17.95 Anyone know of some decent stands for front pair ?
dush_yant to wersmebeer
23 Jan 16#21
Depends on what height - ideally you want the tweeters at ear level on the front speakers. Budget ones: Mission stancettes look really sleek if you don't mind the mission logo on the base and are 50cm high. Pixel T80 are 80cm but don't look as good IMO.

the centre goes in the centre funnily enough and the sub can go almost anywhere in the room

I used twin slot uprights and u brackets to make a small shelf for the center then bolted it to the back of the TV using the wall mount points, works well on a 50" plasma thats free standing.

White high gloss also. I would be interested if the fronts were fully white. Hot price.
The Q logo is a very unobtrusive silver colour and small and does not leap out at you.

Richer Sounds sell Q Acoustics sets if you want to listen. I find it hard to believe anybody would be remotely disappointed with the sound quality at this price and they're much nicer looking than most speakers regardless of budget, more so with the fabric on, IMO. There was almost nothing else that didn't look like MDF.

BarmyBulldog to quincemeister

Your best bet is probably the official 2000 series stands, as universal ones seem to struggle in regards to connections. I've read people fabricating fixes.

To give along term perspective. I bought the 2000 cinema pack when it first launched in 2009, paired with a Onkyo 607. It was superb back then & still is now. As we moved around a bit I've used both the stands & wall mounts, both are great.
Sadly our new house has no room for the sub so I recently sold it for £110, as the system can still produce a decent effect without it. At this price you will have no regrets for years to come!

These look great. New to all this so does anyone know if you need to buy anything else to use surround sound speakers or does everything you need come in the box? Will be using for the TV/blu-rays and to play music from a phone or iPod. Also seen some reviews saying they had to fiddle around with settings to get the best sound. Is that complicated? And I presume you plug the device in but is there any kind of adapter you can buy for systems like these so that you can play music wirelessly from a phone? Thanks
rev6
24 Jan 161#61
You'll need an amplifier (or an AV) for these, they aren't active speakers. And speaker cable.
As rev6 says you'll need an amp to power the speakers, when amp hunting you'll preferably want with Bluetooth or airplay for streaming. I have the Yamaha RXV679 which includes airplay for iPhone. Your best bet would be to either go into Richer Sounds or Seven Oaks and speak to a sales person to get the full run down of what you need.

The BK gemini does get good reviews (https://www.avforums.com/threads/bk-gemini-mk2.926892/page-2) they also reference a q accoustic sub not being so great, a good sub can totally change your system - it also seems to be a more normal cube size.
One guy states:
It is being used with 5 Anthony Gallo micros, out the box without it run in I am amazed at how much it has bought the speakers to life. I have always been tweaking my amp to get better surround sound and do not fully understand how a better sub can make the surround sound and stereo imaging better but it has. It is like having new speakers as well and if it gets better with time then great!

Before you commit to a bigger sub, make sure your room is big enough to accommodate it (>20m2) and you have a good spot to place it. An average subwoofer like the q acoustics in the right place will perform better than a great subwoofer in the wrong place.
