Guys, £30 gets you a PSP from CEX and a simple hack lets it run everything up to and including the PS1 pretty much flawlessly. Dont waste money on this.

I watched a review on one of these a few weeks ago. It is not perfect but it is definitely worth a tenner. The games emulate very well and the sound isn't too bad. It has a lot of Sega Mega Drive games included like Sonic for example.

Thanks op, just ordered as £10 is a no brainer for me for a bit of retro gaming. Wonder of there is a way to put other emulated games on it?
Seen someone selling a similar unit on the local selling pages on Facebook for £30 so tuis is more of a bargain

I wonder if it has a save state function.

Sorry for the daft question - but is there the option to charge this up and play games on the go, it doesn't have to be plugged into the TV?

SNES emulation was pretty slow on the PSP last time I checked.
I'm hoping someone is going to say it has improved, and I can turn the frame skip off.

I have a hacked PSP but I tend to use my phone for emulation these days.
A gamepad mount will turn an Android phone into a very usable handheld console (I always got hand cramps with the poorly laid-out PSP controls).
PSP emulation is a bit hit & miss but at least it will play new games from the Play store, unlike Sony's disowned PSP.
Here's a decent guide for info on how to install Custom FirmWare (CFW). I wouldn't recommend using the Permapatch... Hope this helps.

Around 2, I think. I had to enable set the frameskip on most games.
So it has improved then?

after watching the YouTube video, I think not very poor emulator if you can't even kill or jump on top of anyone.

Pretty much!
The device may look attractive in the photos, but once you own one... you soon wish you didn't. :smirk:
Just the build quality on its own is bad enough, as for the battery charging being safe, that is another matter.
I cant believe why so many have been sold.

If you do go down the PSP route, I massively recommend getting a dual micro SD to Pro Duo adapter like this one:
