I made a price match request yesterday with John Lewis and had a response this morning to say it was accepted. I was told I'd be refunded the difference after purchasing the item at £299.

I am not happy about JL's stance on this and have emailed/called them about it, I will be returning the ps4 straight away if they do not honour it.

Also tried to price match online. Since yesterday, they have gone out of stock, hence a reply just now with request denied. :disappointed:

Just in case anyone else was thinking of trying a price match, Games Centre have gone out of stock so JL won't match it now.

I had to point this out and list a couple of stores before they agreed to match me.

nice. im after a black one after returning my console to amazon because the pad started to go faulty.

Asked in store at John Lewis and they said the only price match from sellers that have a physical and online presence not just online.

Result the will price match at £229 but you pay the full £299 but get refunded the difference , however the match is for the black but I'm after the white one and that is £245 on the games centre website so that's what I may or may not try for that one.

My boy only wants Lego dimensions, so even with the recent bundle deals after selling them you'd only get £220ish back in so IMO £10 more for a 2yr warranty from John Lewis is worth it...happy days

Lets be honest, the 2nd run of any piece of electrical equipment is almost always better than the first run. Unless there's a specific reason why an older model would appeal to anyone i.e. able to run a preferable firmware, an obsolete update and such (more to do with software rather than the hardware), there's zero reason hardware wise to opt for the older hardware. Especially when the newer hardware more or less sells for the same price. So it's not just preferable, it's usually the savvy thing to do.
