This was the only soap I could use for my sensitive skin. I haven't used soap for years. I am very tempted due to the price. Heat Op

They won't even deliver for less than £60! Wasn't worth me making a Waitrose account.
I don't mind paying a delivery charge, but that's not an option. WTF!

Anybody know if they've gone back to the nice old formula - the one that doesn't smell like fly spray? I stopped buying it but would switch back.

No they haven't. The original formula doesnt comply with health and safety standards in UK (maybe EU). I used to work 12 hour shifts at the Unilever factory in Port Sunlight in the early 80s in the soap baking ovens and packing the original formula Pears soap. It used to smell lovely but the alcohol used to permeate right into your skin, and no matter how much you showered there was always a slight smell remaining.

Thank you for replying - and what an interesting little insight too! It's a shame they can't find a way to make it better than it is now though. You'd think they could even use robots in the areas where H&S is the issue.

H+S of the workers wasnt the issue, its because a small number of pople had a skin reaction with the original formula, and in these days of 'compo culture', the company decided it better to change the formula of the soap and replace some of the original (probably questionable) ingredients. The original Pears formula was about a century old so probably needed revision. I be;ieve the original formula Pears is still manufactured in other countries such a s India. 'Lifebuoy' was another soap that has been re-formulated, this time to remove carbolic from its formula.
