This is a genuine Samsung Fast Charger (Samsung store confirmed this).
I purchased one and took it to the local Samsung store to confirm authenticity before using it. I have been using it without issue.
If you purchase one from the Samsung store it will cost you £15 so at £4.99 including delivery in my opinion is a good deal.
There is no Data Cable included but that isn't an issue (for me).
I am unsure how many they have for sale.

I'm still not sure how much I'd trust the authenticity of this.
Doesn't inspire confidence when they can't spell "guaranteed" on the picture correctly.

Loool! That typo is unforgivable. It's not even a missed or a rearranged word!
Sounds like weird science to me; they mixed the genes of a gorilla, a rodent, a termite and a centipede to create a 'GURATANTEED'.

"they come loose in plastic bags"
LOL yeah so obviously not fake then!
Fakes can be OK or can be dangerous, only way to know is to open them up and have enough knowledge to understand what you're looking at. You're usually better off getting 3rd party branded than fakes - but not always.

If you've seen the insides of some of the Apple copies (for example), you'll know the quality of fakes isn't a copied PCB but completely different with far less components as well. The Samsung ones you can usually tell from the quality of plastics, feel and weight though.

If the charger can't be resold as new then neither can the handset, there'd be no reason to separate them. Sometimes certain sell fakes as refurbs, seconds, damaged box, etc, to justify a lower price when they are selling fakes. The buyer is then happy when the item arrives as it appears new. Plus these chargers aren't hard to fake at all, especially if you use the same circuit design which Samsung have already supplied or just get one genuine one and clone that. The fake charger I got on ebay about 6 months ago works perfectly and I have tested the voltages (including when it goes to 9v) and everything is ok. I'm sure mine was sold as genuine too but I have no illusions.

Logically it wouldn't make sense to refurbish these when they can produce them for about 10p and knock them out for £15 again.

They're the ones from returned handsets that can't be resold as new again. I very much doubt they re-case these, just clean (possibly test) and repackage them. We see a lot of them around as well, and at the moment Adaptive Fast Charge and QC2.0 chargers are quite hard to fake (due to dual-voltages) so you should be safe.

There trained to repair £ 700 pound smartphones with samsung UK back up .It's fair to say they will have the capacity to check what is genuine Samsung and what is not..So don't need to be trained in your art of charging do they.Genuine= warranty cover...fake = sorry no cover.

Should put 'refurb' in the title. If you're happy with the product then that's great, but surely you can understand buyers being dubious.

Quickest way to find out if it really is genuine, get on the phone with the seller and say you will be sending it to Trading Standards for inspection before using it (they check to see if it complies with UK HSE electrical safety regulations)...
Usually they own up after this, and beg you to not buy the product :stuck_out_tongue:

I wouldn't trust Samsung store employees either... Most just nod and smile to whatever you say, then continue trying to sell something you don't need.

I've got one of these from eBay to go with my French Note 4. It looks the part but it's definitely fake as it has a serial number which you can find on many others on google images (serial numbers should be unique). Fake Samsung accessories are a big business and many of them are virtual identical which leads me to believe some are probably produced after hours in the factories that Samsung actually contracts to but possibly with inferior materials / workmanship. Anyway, Samsung doesn't seem very bothered with this and if you look at many accessories on Amazon (even those sold by Amazon) you'll find various reports of them being fake. Given that Samsung is less than bothered at the moment, do you think they train all their store staff to be experts in distinguishing things which often look identical?
i bought a similar one to this from ebay with a cable (181922811956). I asked the seller if it was genuine samsung and below was his response. Will compare to my original samsung fast charger if it arrives in time.
"Hello
Thanks for asking.
These are genuine bulk packaged accessories. They come in batches of 100 and not individual and come in poly packaging instead of retail packaging and are sample tested instead of individual testing.
Hence they are cheaper than the retail packs that are available in currys etc.
Hope that helps.
Thanks "

Another thought, spend a few quid more and get this instead?
For £10, you get a new charger with a high quality cable.
Bought it as a second charger at work and was so impressed that I bought the car charger too.
That is why I purchased originally and confirmation from the store the legitimacy of it, I was happy what I paid.
