Definately instore ONLY!, as Barkingside Sainbury's has this for £12, but Newbury Park Sainsbury's has this exact same thing for £15!, so ..... lol.

Actually you can't watch some of the films on iplayer live either, as we found out over xmas now I think about it.

19 Jan 16#38
You can still watch BBC live (last time I checked anyway), ITV too, but thats it from the freeview channels as far as I know.
The poster wanted to use the box as a freeview receiver in a room without an aerial, so I don't think it would suit their needs with just those 2 terrestrial channels streaming live.

Didn't there used to be a watch live option in iplayer?

Can you watch live terrestrial / freeview on these things ? I want freeview in a room with no aerial but good wifi ?

18 Jan 16#26
You can watch live BBC, and itv, 4 and 5 as well I believe. You might be able to find a freeview app for the other channels, I'm not sure.

No you can't unfortunately.
I have heard that you can with the Amazon Fire Stick, but don't quote me on that because I don't have one.

£15 in my local, the advisor said the offer might be store specific :disappointed:

Is there a reason I should change my older nowtv box with plex to this one? Nobody in the house watches sport so the pass is not a good reason.

As well as it being slightly better performing, you can hard wire instead of wifi so more stable/faster connection.
The important thing for me is that plex (a sideloaded media app) can stream at 1080p instead of only 720p on the original white version. Makes no difference if you only use it for sky services or catch up as they don't offer 1080p on it.

Stronger Box, Faster Box, Stronger & Faster Processor Box, and Box Supports BOTH WiFi and Ethernet 'Hardwired' Ethernet? (whereas the original NowTV 1 Box was less all these above things .. other than WiFi only ofcourse?) so ..... :-)

OP .. you should have mentioned which Sainsburys you saw/bought yours at too?, lol. :-)
For anyone thats interested, Sainsburys in Barkingside, East London has about 2 or 3 of these NowTV 2 Day Passes in stock for £12.
Ps.
Bare in mind that its ONLY the 2 Day Passes Box thats the £12?, as the NowTV 2 Months Movie Pass and the NowTV 3 Months Entertainment Pass are still £15 each ..... lol. :-)

You can install one extra app in a similar way to the roku. Such as to view media from USB, or stream from your own media server.
Roku is far more expensive (I have one of those too), so these are great for the money and make good gifts as well.
Selling the passes means the last few boxes cost me around £3 each

May be a silly question, but here goes.
Why do you buy them for just the box? surly once you have one in every room you need, it's the voucher you need.
Is it possible to flash it back to a Roku?

As we all purchase these deals for the PASSES - why not just reduce the price of the PASSES to reduce the size of the landfilled BOXES?

I'm interested in this, so long as you can still side load Plex on it? I've seen one in action and they do seem a lot more responsive than the original ones... I'll have a look in store tomorrow.
