7 seater mpv 24 month lease works out at £138.52 a month all in good for a large family on a budget. its based on a van so not the most refined mpv. 3000 n200,s will hit the streets of new york a year as taxi,s so i take it they should be reliable. 8000 miles per year.

I am just about to hand back my company car and am needing a personal lease. Does anyone know what other costs I need to factor in - do I need to pay for servicing and my own insurance? Also what are the usual costs if you exceed the 8,000 miles per annum?

Looks like a good deal by the way - heat added

10 Jan 16 1 #45
Why is it rubbish and cold?
Do you vote everything you can't understand cold?
andykapa
10 Jan 16 #47
I believe i understand more than you...

Let me give you all the short version:

Leasing = good for small businesses. Easier paperwork and a tax benefit.
Buying = good for the regular Joe.

If you feel compelled to lease a car to "feel good" about yourself, then you have some other real serious issues you need to face. If you are this sort of person, more likely than not, you are making other poor financial decisions in your life.

For a smart person who buys a decent car that lasts 10 years or more AFTER paying it off, that's anywhere from £10 to 15k of savings. For a clown who leases and do not own a business, be prepared to work until you are 60+ years old if this is you.
Oneday77
10 Jan 16 1 #48
I understand way more than you think. We own a car and also lease one. Why because of done wisely the cost of ownership is the same.

We bought a Ford Focus from new and kept it 10 years. Factoring in repair costs, servicing and VED, depreciation and other costs. It worked out at about £200 per month.
My current leased Focus of a higher spec, costs £210pm all in. Better fuel economy, cheaper insurance and service included.
So tell me how that isn't a wise way to drive a car?

My wife's car is owned. Our Civic lost more in depreciation than our new car cost new. M

We like to and can afford new cars, without finance. Leasing makes more sense in swine ways for us.

10 Jan 16 #54

snack_attack to 99rb
10 Jan 16 #56
Try adding 10mph to each limit. That's if you can reach it, 0-62mph takes over 14 seconds, add 6 passengers and you're probably heading towards 20s. Alright if you drive around an urban area only doing 30-40mph, but you'd need to look at the weather forecast for the wind speed and wind direction before heading out on a country road, dual carriageway or motorway.
m1chaels
10 Jan 16 #51
Until in one year at 6 years old you need a new clutch and dmf and a new turbo and dpf - sure if you do lots of long trips you don't get those problems but if 98% of your mileage is in town on trips of about 2 miles form cold then it happen unless you take the fuel consumption hit of driving a petrol which again makes it expensive.

We used to laugh at those who bought new or leased until this happened and we realised the maths can work both ways.

Rodius is definitely a munter, but is unbelievably cheap to buy and run, has bulletproof (although previous generation) Merc drivetrain, and is more flexible than any six/seven seater before or since (infinitely configurable interior, even 'conference' seating). "I believe i understand more than you..."

Nope, still waiting.

Why does every anti-lease person assume those who are for leasing only want to because it's a new car that makes them feel good about themselves? I haven't leased, but considering it because of the fixed costs and wanting/needing only 1 car between my wife and I with a load of kids, something reliable covered by decent warranty is mercenary and becoming more so with job and family circumstances. Being a new car, in itself, isn't important.

Oh, surely most of us are prepared to/have to work until 60+ these days anyway?

And whenever you are out and about always leave someone sat in it so they catch anyone who bumps it in a car park and make them pay for the damage. You also need to sit someone on the bonnet when driving, to catch any wayward stones.

i wouldnt have thought so since there is a manufacturers warranty with it being a brand new car. i doubt Audi wants the second hand market for its cars to drop if they are giving people the wrong information with regards to servicing.
