yes I was waiting for it to drop to around £180 but gave up. Took the plunge at £220..so glad I did. MK8 is great and also purchased Yoshi`s Wolly World to play co-op with the kids. They love it. Great games don`t have to be based on guns and blood to be engaging. All the games are so well thought out and there is a challenge in them for every age.
Do it , do it.

Just wondering if any knowledgeable folk could help with this... I want to play 4 player Smash Bros. If I buy the Gamecube controller adaptor, and use two original GC controllers with that, can I also use the controller that comes with the console, plus also use an original wii remote? so four players using a host of different controllers? Many thanks.
christopheshort1 to Kimbrehhh

yes you can do that, the game supports 8 players offline, you can even use a 3ds as a controller

Not everyone is a fan of them, but I would personally recommend the very cheap and quality PDP character themed controllers.
WiiU is reasonably user friendly, but if you want simple straight forward, get going, pick up and play then a 3DS XL would fit the bill nicely. Lots of titles and great games like Yoshi's Island, Mario Party Island and others are now available at under £15 new. Mario Kart 7 multiplayer/online is great fun. Those 3 games would satisfy you for ages.

Even if th NX is released this year it will still take a while for it to have a fair few decent games so i'll still get plenty of use out of the WIIU first. I made the mistake of buying the PS4 and XBOX ONE straight after release and there's still not many games i'm interested in. Only keeping the PS4 because my son likes COD and FIFA and have sold the XBOX ONE. I'm more into happy, colorful, fun games so the WIIU is perfect for me. Well worth the price!

Is a good UK Price as OP says. Just to be pre-emptive before the XBOX/PS fanboys inevitably get going in the deal thread, YES we know the Wii U is over priced, dead, not worth more than £75, it only has 23 games, only 2 more games will be released, its old technology, and it has 2½ weeks of shelf life left. Thanks anyway, but we have got it, we know your thoughts.
Played most of Wii U's library and now my Wii U is only used to play Mario Kart 8 Online, eh, it's not bad but wish Nintendo would release a last batch of DLC for the game. Plus, if it wasn't for the Wii U Pro Controller I wouldn't play it since the GamePad feels unnatural, too big and clumsy.
Sure some may say the WUPC is basically the GamePad and it is but being a traditional controller makes all the difference.

You're omitting the fact that the current slew of consoles are about £30 more expensive and are supported by more third party developers.
AC Syndicate? Arkham Knight? Destiny TTK? Black Ops IIII? FIFA?
It's not a good price.
MK8 becomes repetitive by the 7000 points mark.
Splatoon & Xenoblade are now the ONLY redeeming games to the console from an outside perspective.
For those considering a wii u purchase, if you can get a 2nd hand 1 for a ton and a few games, it's worth that.
It's not worth paying £200 brand new with 2 games, not even close.

I have a ps4 which I play a fair amount. Recently. Got an xbox one which isn't even plugged in atm due to the lack of games..... Would it just be pointless to get one of these? Kinda after a 3ds also..... I'm terrible with consoles...

Lego city police is an absolutely brilliant game for my 6 year old.
Got splatoon for my 8 year old at Christmas. She hasn't had much of a look in because of Lego city but from what I've seen it looks great fun.

The Wii U is a great console, I was one of the lucky few who got the Wii U premium for my MRS when it was £84 in Tesco, since she has got Yoshi Wolly World, New Super Mario Bros and Super Smash Bros it is also great with Netflix, I would recommend to all

We have a PS4, we did have an Xbox one till a few weeks before christmas and now have a WIIU, the WIIU has been played more since Christmas that the others in the whole time we have had them. It is soo much fun, Splatoon and Mario Kart 8 are brilliant.

I voted hot because this is the best price but I dont think this console is worth the money despite a handful of decent exclusive titles(I really really want mario maker). The wii u misses out on alot of decent multi plats and the nx is on the horizon

For those that are bothered about there only being 20+ games only, you can the the wii u reconfigured to allow you to download wii games onto it. It's obviously illegal but it's something that can and has been done before, but shouldn't be done for legal purposes.

Or you could just but the physical Wii games and play Wii U in Wii mode.
Wii games are fairly cheap so I don't see the need to pirate them personally

Give it time. I wouldn't say £210 is a good price to get a Wii U anymore but some people might fancy buying one at this price, still.
Y'know, there's always those "6-12 months later they release a new console and I only got the last-gen recently!!" no one forced them to purchase it and they didn't do their research (NX/the new Nintendo home console may possibly be released on 2016).

yeah you can play offline, splatoon will need to be downloaded from the e shop tho, Mario kart should already be on the system.
Wonderful 101 is an amazing action title. Pikmin 3 is a visual delight and a great RTS hybrid (best way to play with with GamePad in front and you use controllers while watching the action on the TV).
Mass Effect 3 plays very well and can be gotten for peanuts. Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze is reportedly rock hard and great fun.
Virtual console just got beefed up with some N64 gems too!

splatoon is also great. super Mario 3d world, smash, hyrule warriors, bayonetta 2. shovel knight physical is pretty cheap and real good. then there's titles like xenoblades, Zelda u probably next year along with star fox... third party and big library is dead on the u, yeah. but most of what's there - at least on disc - is great. a lot of people love off TV too for virt console
