Part of their reduced Christmas stock items. Also had all other varieties (including crunch) reduced to 50p.

Go to the self service and just keep scanning the 25p one if you want some of the 50p bars.

Plus the fact that the assistants do watch you, and CCTV is ontop of them! Also to add the weight may be different and you couod set off the alarms when leaving due to that specific barcode NOT going through the till!

You wouldn't set off the alarms in a million years!! The only barcodes that can do that contain a metal chip type thing (like security tags). There is no capacity to embed that level of information in plastic packaging!
The CCTV is also not on top of each self scan but covering the general area and, in most stores, not good enough quality to pick up details such as the different variation of product in a customer's hand.
Switching stuff at self scan is wrong and it's theft but it's the least of a large supermarket's worries so they don't have loads of crazy measures in place to save 25p - it's not cost effective. I used to work as a checkout supervisor for Sainsburys and we were often targeted by professional criminals who take a lot more than just the wrong flavour nakd bar.

Must admit, not the best tasting Nakd bar. Also has a cola type of flavour.
