Amazon France have the white and black Moto G 3rd Gen on a lightning deal from 9:30am. Looks a good option if you are after the unlocked, higher spec version of the phone (NB: majority of UK retailers offer the lower spec 8GB/1GB Ram edition).
Buying on Amazon France is simple; use your normal UK account to login - the accounts are synchronised across the continent. If your credit card doesn't charge a fee for foreign transactions, you probably get a better price by paying in Euros instead of letting Amazon do the currency conversion.

I picked up one of these for the same price (thanks to this site) on Black Friday from Amazon France.
The only difference is that it comes with a French charger, and the instruction book is in French. Other than that, it's the same phone you'd buy here.

not sure about France but fairly sure Asia will use a different baseband or whatever it's called, at least for 4g. 3g might be ok.

Anyone know how much this differs from the Samsung Galaxy Mini 3 (not too technical)
For anybody concerned about returning things to Amazon France:
I bought one of these the last time it was on offer. Unfortunately the screen has developed a fault where the backlight no longer turns on, so I can't see anything on the screen (although the phone is switched on).
Amazon.fr returns have been great so far (the UK customer service team wouldn't help me, as it was ordered from France). I requested a replacement on Friday, and they got a new handset to me on Sunday via DPD. I've got 30 days to return the faulty handset, at my own cost, however their terms state that they will refund the postage costs as long as their returns team finds the handset to be faulty.
This is 16gb from France. The carphone warehouse is only 8!

Yes, you must purchase in Euro. If you tell Amazon your card is GBP denominated then they will apply their own (poor) exchange rate.
Change your card settings to show that it is Euro denominated before buying.

Just a heads up...I bought this on the last deal, this is an excellent phone for the money but on mine the camera lens bezel was coming away slightly and wouldn't stay down. couldn't be bothered to send back and glued it (very carefully) and it works like a champ.

"I have checked and see that the item in Amazon France website have listed the item under lightning deal, hence the item cost is lower.
I'm sorry, we are unable to price match the items from our partnership website.
However, I will forward this issue to our amazon France team, and they will help you to provide steps to place an order in their website and update you via email within 6 hours".

Please please correct me if I am wrong but is the the same handset you can get from Vodafone in their winter sale that is currently on? £89
Yes, you are wrong - this is 2GB RAM/16GB ROM rather than the 1GB/8GB you find everywhere else, so more storage and (should be) far smoother and better running day to day. Exclusive to Amazon or direct from Motorola I am led to believe.

Hot but
At £135 would not rather go for the £115 - Ultra 6? Which has a 1080p screen? and is cheaper?
Or if you want the 5inch screen why not the P8 Lite - Which has similar/almost same specs as this for £99

4 Jan 16#43
peeps considerin this may also want to be aware that moto av just launched the moto g (4th gen?) turbo which has a significant CPU/spec update in some territories (not confirmed yet comin to Europe) but hopefully it will. It's being compared by some to be similar spec to a Htc A9 which is a radically diff price point. Heat given tho despite being happy wiv my 8Gb

The Turbo edition (still 3rd gen) isn't set for a release in Europe or the US. We will most likely go straight to the 4th gen.

I'm looking for a reasonable 5" smartphone for my other half, for about £100 (2GB RAM, decent camera etc). Torn between something like this and some from Banggood etc.
We live in France, so getting this from Amazon isn't a problem, getting something from CPW etc will be trickier!
Just bought it for £142. Unfortunately, I had Amazon Currency Converter on at the time so it is much more. Fortunately, it still is a deal and much cheaper than Italy which did not work so I cancelled the order. Estimated delivery by Thursday!!

First point: The majority of Android apps cannot be fully installed to the SD card.
Second point: Apps which can be installed usually act in odd ways (crashing, freezing, features not working).
Third point: The 16GB version also includes 2GB RAM (vs 1GB RAM on the 8GB version). Arguably this is the main reason why the 16GB version is superior.
Better specs do not equal a better experience. The M4 Aqua is plagued with issues from overheating, extreme lag due to over-throttling of the processor to control the heat (usually you will find that the SD410 in the Moto G 3rd performs better than the M4 in use, apart from gaming and benchmarks), poor build quality, and internal memory which is crammed with un-installable junk.
My experience with two M4's last year included all of the above, plus failing microphones, cameras which occasionally wouldn't bother to save the photo or video (saving a black image or audio only), and too many random reboots.

Yea, if the 1gb RAM/8gb storage version costs £89 then Amazon UKs current price for the 2gb RAM/16gb storage version of £169 seems to be taking the ****.
i didnt know that about the RAM, that does make it better.
although i reckon the majority of people use micro sd cards for media, and anyone serious about their phones probably wouldnt buy the moto g anyway

I know this deal has finished but I'm thinking of getting this phone as an upgrade from my 1st gen. Quite happy to pay the £169 at Argos for the 16gb/2gb ram version . Is the extra £80 over the Vodafone 8gb worth it?
