In some ways that is a better phone as has SD slot, same camera and waterproof but I've ordered this for the extra customisability in Moto maker vs the G and the Motorola voice and extra software features. I didn't need it in any way as lots of 'better' phones but I've always wanted to Moto pimp my phone!

Well if you read the articles I linked to, two phones, 16 and 8 months old, are not included in 6 update, nor any information on when or if they will be. Also a flagship phone from 2014 has been confirmed as never receiving the 6 update, and it was only 13 months old at the time of the announcement! So it's very far from certain. I would only bet on about 1 year of updates.

Guys... just read on the net that the battery life on this phone is not great.. even with moderate usage you can get only around 12 - 14 hrs battery & max of around 2Hrs screen on time. Is that true? Does anybody have any idea on the battery life?

If the moto G battery is better as mentioned, by how much? in terms of, 2 hrs , half a day longer etc. Serious question of course.
And also, comparing other specs between the 2 phones. Not everyone buys a phone for battery life as much it is a huge important point of course, but would be interesting to know what pushes the G to the front other than just a battery mention. I ask, because we have these: moto g 1st gen, sluggish a bit now, moto e, still going without much complaints, moto g with some issues due to misuse like speaker not working proper, screen popping off on side, an abused phone really! It will be replaced with a moto g 3rd gen tomorrow (2gb/16gb ver) ... I'm expecting good things from it! The moto x is now also on order, so hope those battery issues you raised are not real. :confused:

Marshmellow makes evey phone better in standby but not so much is being used. I've ordered one and i think camera is ok in good light. As owner of Nexus 6 (basically same) I can vouch for that. In low light it will be rubbish though vs best camera phones or even my iPhone 6 or OnePlus 2. Best of all was Nexus 5X that had for a bit but sold. Hope this helps. A normal user at work will be fine with this battery wise. If using a lot probably a 2 charge but it does support quick charge if buy seperate charger.

My First Moto X 2nd gen which I got 2 weeks ago and has updated to android marshmallow has managed most days to get me through, I am what I would class as a average user and as long as you don't go mad.
I have managed to get over 4.00 hours of screen on time with mine, I have sync disabled as I prefer to check for mail and notification manually so I am not been bothered all day long and I had the screen set to automatic with a max brightness of 30%
I just use my phone mainly for calls, lots of them mind you, emails and a small amount of internet maybe 30 minutes a day max and the add bit music if I am not in a meeting.
I don’t play games as a prefer to use the PC or one of the console’s for that and that is the same for Video, movies and most of my shopping I prefer to it on my PC

Hi my daughter had the same problem. She is a student and used Unidays code. I thought the same as you but when she phoned it was only the fact that she had used her first name in full on the order but the card she paid with only had initials. They apologized for inconvenience and order is going through OK now.

Thank you for that! I seem to remember when putting details in, it auto changed the card holder name without an option to change. Eg, if name is Xylophone Yaris, yet on my card it Mr X m Y then its gonna be a problem. I'll give them a call and see. Fingers crossed!

Same situation with mine. I can only suggest we be patient, they most likely have a huge influx of orders at the moment. Most people's arrive way before the expected delivery date, so if it hasn't arrived by then, then there's obviously a problem. I can confirm my credit card has been charged for the payment.

I hadn't received a confirmation email and I had signed out as a guest and didn't take down an order number (in a rush). I had used the Unidays code too. I just contacted live chat and gave my email and the guy said 'I can see your order has gone through, and you’ll be receiving a confirmation email shortly', whatever that means! Nexus fifth and Schumarvel, why don't you do the same and see what the person says?... And let me know. Perhaps they haven't picked up on me using a Uni code yet!!!!
Thing is, I was half tempted to cancel with him there and then. I managed to get the LG G4 from Vodafone for £235 and I do know they are two different types of phone in 2 different tiers. But I do do prefer a pure Android experience and the Moto X offers that but the LG offers better specs but is much more expensive. Also, there's no black front! I'd pimped it with an Ebony back and Gold accents but it's got a white front! I think I got carried away! Ahhhh, 1st world problems I guess!

Oh my order went through, I only got an email 2 days later saying: your order is on hold, call number xxx.
I then talked to someone on chat who told me he has no idea why it is on hold and said he will escalate with some team or the other.
Then they sent me an email saying, sorry mate you can't use 2 promotions together, check the t&c's of one and the other.
In your shoes I would keep the g4 until Moto gets dispatched or something. I truly hope I was a one off, I have shared a lot of codes through last month or two so they might be suspicious or something.

I have actually moved from my trusty Moto X+1 to LG G4 and while I miss the stock and a couple of features, I gained a new phone with some other features and after selling X+1 and buying G4 from voda I payed reasonably little for the upgrade.
I was actually first going to buy this to upgrade 16 to 32GB and new battery etc but as it got cancelled and figured out the stock checker for g4 is broken I picked one up.
Both are very nice devices but I would go for X+1 if you can get I for 170£ and for G4 rather than paying 200£ for x+1.

Similar happened to me, but only used one code. On hold/cancelled message. 21st I ordered. 23rd and 25th followed up with live assistance (Their call in message they say can be done on weekends doesn't. Weekdays only.)
They said would escalate and I didn't need to call and would get an email. All pointed to my first and last name not matching exactly what was on my payment card. (1st & middle initials and lastname) .. 28th called, they said would escalate.. So now I sit and wait - sigh

I believe though that if you are going to get it and I hope you will, your order should progress into something like "we are assembling your phone" or some such, if you get to that stage you are going to get it. And this will 99% happen within 14 days.
Besides in your shoes I would not be bringing it back to voda, just sell it on eBay you can make a nice profit, even if you opened it up, or share the deal with someone who wasn't lucky enough to pick one up, new ones are going for 280£. (Just don't register the LG on the site for warranty so you can "pass it on" to your buyer.)

I had the same issue, ordered on the 20th and told on the 28th it was on hold. Called up was told it was cancelled since it was over 7 days , due to a payment issue. So it was suggested I re-order, which I did finally and it moved to stage 2 where they are making it. My issue was the name on the card, the initials issue. From the experience I've had trying to get one of these... pretty shoddy, they always say going to escalate order and such and I can expect a mail. Nothing comes. Same story trying to push them on twitter. And this is me with 2 orders in their system. First placed on 21st... One for Moto X .. the other the Moto X Style. I may land up just getting them of Amazon and paying a little more knowing I'll get it the next day with Prime.

returning mine. Upgraded from a ASUS Zenfone 5 and to be honest either mines faulty or its not that good, ok its fast but the camera is really bad, I uses shpock and the photos are dark I have to use the moto photo app then go back to Shpock but the gallery photos are totally black with the odd one say one out 5 pics showing. I have even followed guides on how to solve this but nope still the same. The battery drain is bad after just a few hours of average use its at 57% plus a couple of apps do crash, even chrome crashed. The Zenfone although slower didnt have any of these issues.

And also, comparing other specs between the 2 phones. Not everyone buys a phone for battery life as much it is a huge important point of course, but would be interesting to know what pushes the G to the front other than just a battery mention. I ask, because we have these: moto g 1st gen, sluggish a bit now, moto e, still going without much complaints, moto g with some issues due to misuse like speaker not working proper, screen popping off on side, an abused phone really! It will be replaced with a moto g 3rd gen tomorrow (2gb/16gb ver) ... I'm expecting good things from it! The moto x is now also on order, so hope those battery issues you raised are not real. :confused:

I have managed to get over 4.00 hours of screen on time with mine, I have sync disabled as I prefer to check for mail and notification manually so I am not been bothered all day long and I had the screen set to automatic with a max brightness of 30%
I just use my phone mainly for calls, lots of them mind you, emails and a small amount of internet maybe 30 minutes a day max and the add bit music if I am not in a meeting.
I don’t play games as a prefer to use the PC or one of the console’s for that and that is the same for Video, movies and most of my shopping I prefer to it on my PC

Thing is, I was half tempted to cancel with him there and then. I managed to get the LG G4 from Vodafone for £235 and I do know they are two different types of phone in 2 different tiers. But I do do prefer a pure Android experience and the Moto X offers that but the LG offers better specs but is much more expensive. Also, there's no black front! I'd pimped it with an Ebony back and Gold accents but it's got a white front! I think I got carried away! Ahhhh, 1st world problems I guess!
I then talked to someone on chat who told me he has no idea why it is on hold and said he will escalate with some team or the other.
Then they sent me an email saying, sorry mate you can't use 2 promotions together, check the t&c's of one and the other.
In your shoes I would keep the g4 until Moto gets dispatched or something. I truly hope I was a one off, I have shared a lot of codes through last month or two so they might be suspicious or something.

Wife is gonna be gutted, she really needs a new phone and was really looking forward to this one.
Hope my daughters order for the X Style goes through ok.. hers is also on hold/cancelled status, money has been taken from her account though, so that's a positive sign at least.
Worst that can happen is I land up getting two phones.. I'm also in dire need of a new one, so won't be a bad thing :laughing:
