I went into Iceland this afternoon to get some milk and they have it on offer for 25p per pint. This ranges from 25p for a 1 pint bottle, 50p for a 2 pint bottle etc.
Yes, but this deal is for those that buy in small amounts and don't need 4 pint bottles.

Do they use a different font?
Freeze half of it. That's what my mam does. Keep a 2 litre one to decant it in.

Heat added, we only need around a pint or 2 for a week or so, it winds me up that 4 pints is 89p and 2 pints normally about 15p less so I end up buying 4 pints because it is better value and always throw some away when it goes off.

This is selective.... Been this price for ages at a store i know. I questioned this in my closer store to me and they disagreed that was the price and was an error. I took proof and then they replied it must have been a store specific and not happening to theirs eventho the other store sells them at this price all year round.

I have a strange thing with milk where I can only drink it once freshly opened. This would help with that!

Cravendale/supermarket filtered milk might help change your life if you haven't tried that before.

Chances are it's a loss leader for Iceland. They are probably paying the farmers more than 25p a leader. It gets people through the doors, potentially buying other things whilst their there.

ive stopped buying cheap milk. Last few times when I have bought the 4ltr bottle for £1 at Iceland or Asda,Morrisons etc the milk has gone off within 3 days of opening it. The only thing I buy now is Cravendale cos even after 7 days it stays fresh plus it tastes nicer. Ok it can be upto double in price but Iceland do it for £1.50 plus its a big support for farmers.
cold for me for cheap milk im afraid.

I buy 4 pints for 89p at Lidl at find it last the full 11 days up to the "use by date". On more than one occasion, I have used it on day 12 and it still taste fine.

Or get unhomogenised milk which isn't made rancid through processing, tastes a lot nicer and seems to keep a 'fresher' taste for longer.

Looks like dairy farming is not a very viable business at the moment. If the farmers do not like what they get for their produce they could sell their farms and get jobs. The reason milk is so cheap at the moment is because there is a over supply, we cant be expected to pay more for milk just to please the farmers. If milk does not bring in the money why do they not farm cattle for meat? I cant see much difference. I would love to see the price of fillet steak coming down a bit.

Wow. That's a massive oversimplification of the whole Farming Industry.
Yeah, just sell up.

Homogenisation makes milk rancid through processing? Sorry but I don't see how or why that would be the case.
Unhomogenised milk just means all the cream and fat tends to float to the top so you have to shake it before use.
At the end of the day, it's just down to personal preference.

why sell something for less than it costs to produce..... if they have signed up to some sort of contract then its their own fault. Surely as the demand for milk is so high they in theory could demand any price they want for a litre/pint. Something's gone on at some point probably down to greed or some lucrative looking deal, only to be stitched up by the the big companies, who'd have thought?!
I'm sure we would all pay more if they were to charge it, we wouldn't have any choice if all the prices went up.....

Not really. Demand is high but supply is also high. Keep in mind the UK farmers get heavy subsidy from the government because it is the national interest to keep the UK farmers alive and be able to compete with exported products. Something to do political economy of food.
Forget politics or ethics. We are bargain hunter. As long as it is still legal then enjoy while it lasts ...
