For anyone tempted to buy the Merlin pass for their family I would consider doing the following.
If you have any children under the age of 15 and they happen to do anything interesting hobby wise/ environmentally/ charitable etc get them to write a letter to Blue Peter and they may well receive a Blue Peter badge which entitles them to free entry to Merlin attractions until they are 16. This isn't guaranteed of course, but has lasted for a long time now.
My kids cycled to Paris when they were 9 and 7 so we have had 7 years of only having to buy 2 passes instead of 4.

£20, I would recommend going for the Premium pass, you get so much more perks for it, free parking at theme parks, unlimited access all year round, fast track into the attraction.
Don't forget Topcashback (10.5%) / Quidco (8.5%) via a local attraction such as Sealife Centre, etc

The sale is over, so passes are now full price again.
You can get a pass with Tesco vouchers (dont forget that you can get topcashback to convert some of your cashback into tesco vouchers - I think it is £50 per year)

You can order via the dungeons website or sea life. You can get topcashback with either of these. You will need to go to the sealife centre or to the dungeons to activate your passes - they will become active for 12 months from the day you go to the dungeon/sealife centre to activate.
I think you can also purchase via the websites without having to physically go to the venue - you need to upload your photos from home. The disadvantage is that the passes become active on the day of purchase, so if you don't use them straight away, you have wasted some of the time on your passes.

Hope someone can help, Im wondering whether its worth getting passes to start this August or wait till next year. Currently have Legoland annual passes for me and 5 year old expiring mid August. I have a just 2 year old who will turn 3 in November. If buy passes now will we be able to renew for him at the renewal price of £109 (assuming it will be same as last year). Or will all 4 of us: 2 adults, 6 year old and 3 year old have to pay the £119 (assuming prices next year say same)?

I thought Shrek was a Dreamworks attraction ? If it is actually a Merlin one then I might consider getting these passes again. We used to have annual passes for about 3 years in a row but haven't bothered for the last two years. We live 30 mins (by car) from Thorpe Park and Chessington and 1 hr (on the train) from Waterloo so are in an almost perfect location to use the passes.
As for the best price ... we have a daughter with a Blue Peter badge so for a family of 4 we would just need 3 passes ?
ramit
2 Jan 161#59
The 10% cashback tracked straight away with topcashback from London Dungeon. Took a premium pass for family of 4 from 476 to 426....
I initially thought this was a good deal but then I thought about it...
A family of 4 is looking at £400 (ish) for the year without Premium which puts it to £480.
However I have never really been to a Merlin attraction without using a 241 voucher or other such promotion which are in every paper or on every cereal box.
I actually don't think £500 a year is that good value...

We had them a couple of years ago, I don't think we got good value out of it. Although when you totted it up we'd saved about £300 each. But to be honest you can always get in to Merlin attractions half price, and you end up going to places that you wouldn't pay for just because they are free. We went in Toussauds Blackpool twice, but I can't claim we each saved £40 by doing so as we would never have paid to go in.
The Sealife centre, you're in there thirty minutes, again not worth it.
Probably worth it if you live closer to one of the good theme parks, we got to Alton Towers twice!

What we tend to do as regards the premium pass for our family is as follows.
Main perk of the premium is the parking so if you are not bothered about the restrictions in central London during August and a few other minor blackout dates, is to buy 3 standard passes and one premium pass.
Remember you only need one premium pass per family for parking so for us as a family of four it has made sense the last 2 years
m.ad to teddyvickers
1 Jan 161#34
From what i can tell, 2 adults 2 children all Premium is £476. One premium adult (£149) and one adult two children standard (£297) is £446, so saving £30. I would rather pay that to avoid the restriction!

From the date of purchase you have 6 months to pick it up from your selected attraction. Your annual membership will start from the date of collection, not date of purchase. A lot of the theme parks don't actually open until March, so you could buy now at sale prices & activate in the spring.

the sealife centre in london is not listed as an exclusion on the topcashback website.
If you live in london and are concerned about sealife centre cashback, then go to the topcashback website and purchase your pass through the london dungeons 10.5% cashback
You can go to the desk at the london dungeon, get your pass activated then go immediately to the shrek adventure, sealife centre or london eye which are all next door to each other. (of course, you can also go into the dungeons)
If you are going to the dungeons or shrek adventure, you may need to pre-book a time slot (if it is busy). You can do this in advance through the merlin website but it charges £1 per person for this.
You can pre-book dungeon and shrek tickets, then collect your annual pass on the day
Your pass is activated on the day that you go to the merlin attraction, so you can buy your pass now online and collect it (and activate it) later in the year.
I am not sure how long you have to activate the passes but hopefully someone on hotukdeals can clarify this.
I purchased an annual pass in august which was "on sale" at the time but these were £119 each for the family passes. I got cashback via sealife hotukdeals but took almost 4 months for payment

Long queue for the london eye - premium passes get fast track but we have standard passes so had to queue
As for the best price ... we have a daughter with a Blue Peter badge so for a family of 4 we would just need 3 passes ?
A family of 4 is looking at £400 (ish) for the year without Premium which puts it to £480.
However I have never really been to a Merlin attraction without using a 241 voucher or other such promotion which are in every paper or on every cereal box.
I actually don't think £500 a year is that good value...
how do i get the £119 premium price for an adult?
The Sealife centre, you're in there thirty minutes, again not worth it.
Probably worth it if you live closer to one of the good theme parks, we got to Alton Towers twice!
Main perk of the premium is the parking so if you are not bothered about the restrictions in central London during August and a few other minor blackout dates, is to buy 3 standard passes and one premium pass.
Remember you only need one premium pass per family for parking so for us as a family of four it has made sense the last 2 years
If you live in london and are concerned about sealife centre cashback, then go to the topcashback website and purchase your pass through the london dungeons 10.5% cashback
Doesn't open until march though :disappointed:
Can I do that on the site too?
Ok thank you :-) not sure we'd get £700 worth of visits in one year as we just don't live close enough but good price for those that do (or smaller families!)
can we get 1 adult and 1 child as standard
and 1 adult as premium
to get free parking
I've made one up for you:-

Don't forget Topcashback (10.5%) / Quidco (8.5%) via a local attraction such as Sealife Centre, etc
Pop down the road to Thorpe park though and its age 4 so you need to check with each attraction as they have different policy's
