This looks to be a great price for a solid carbon fibre tripod. Was looking at the aluminium version in-store earlier today and the latest 290 series is a perfect fit for a 6" (edit: yeah okay... you know I meant 6 foot!) person without needing to extend centre column.
This carbon fibre version usually retails for £150-195 for the legs only, but WEX are also including the 804RC2 Mark II 3-way head (worth £79) for free.
So basically you're getting a decent carbon fibre tripod and head for under £130. Comes with a carry bag too.
Voucher code TRIPOD1215 takes an extra 5% off.

Mine arrived yesterday, looks good feels very solid, and is a good height for me (6,3") would even suit someone taller than me, as with the head extended it towers above me. this should make those long exposure shots a lot easier
thanks OP

Mine's just arrived. Soooo much lighter than the MT055XPRO3/498RC2 combo I just sold, yet still feels very solid.
I was hoping the 3-way head came boxed separately, as it would be easier to sell on (I'm a ballhead guy!), but comes as a pre-packaged deal with tripod. Never mind... I'll see how I get on with the 804RC2.
Can't complain for under £130.

For your average twin kit user, probably no benefit at all. Though someone who uses it a lot would enjoy the weight reduction to humpf about.
Anyone with highe spec cameras and/or lenses it's a quick win. My camera bag easily weighs 5kg not including my non-cf tripod. It all adds up.

Nothing here says I'm a hater. I would like to know how 99% of photographers will benefit by spending £130 on a tripod though.

People who will be buying this will know what the benefits are as there is no competition when it comes to a cheapo tripod and this is a good deal. Haters gonna hate!

Not sure if it's easier to separate a photographer or a cyclist from their hard earned - especially if carbon fibre is mentioned! No doubt it's a good product but probably one that a tiny percentage of buyers will actually benefit from.

Aargh, it went OOS just as I placed the order.
Went for a Befree instead as that is reduced and the voucher code came off.
Don't really need another big tripod, have the MK055XPRO3 and 498RC2 Ball Head, would have liked the 804RC2 head as well, though...
Oh well, not to be...

Is this strong enough to hold the 5D mk 3 with the canon 300mm lens? I've tried a few but none of them can hold it in place properly, the weight of the lens and camera means it slips down.....

Very tempting. Would have had this without a second thought when I used my DSLR. But probably overkill for use with mirrorless.

I was looking for a new tripod, and even though I bought a cheaper one on Cyber Monday from Amazon, this is the real deal. Thanks for posting.

I once got my CF Manfrotto tripod stuck in a bush at Capitol Reef National Park.
When I pulled it out, the leg broke into pieces.
I smashed the sh1t out the the rest of it by the side of the road and bought another one in SLC.
So be careful out there
