Very rare for this destination to be so cheap from Manchester (or anywhere that's not Dublin!), it's about an hour's luxury coach ride at ~£20 return on coach to Brussels (airport's middle of nowhere) but you can get to other places like Luxembourg and Bruges.

I would personally recommend Ghent - far superior to the frankly overrated Bruges.

Bruges is nice (chocolate, churches, canal rides, cafes) and well worth the visit.
Luxembourg, not so interesting, small and with little to do. If your passing through on a road trip its worth the stop to kill an hour or two or find food.
Brussels, well that's generally off peoples radar for a bit and rightly so!

I agree. I visited Ghent before I headed to Bruges but everyone seemed to talk about Bruges whilst in Ghent so I was excited to visit, but when I got to Bruges I personally preferred Ghent.
I must add that I flew back from this airport and like someone else said its absolutely miles away from the centre of Brussels and to be honest, its a really tiny airport and the surrounding areas were very unsafe. I wouldn't fly to or from here again.

It's most days Monday to Friday, Jan and Feb. You can just have one night as you can leave very early and come back very late.

Just to let anyone know, this airport is absolutely miles away from Bruges. It's another 14 euro per head to get to the centre per person by coach each way so add on another 60 euros for two people unless you want to sleep in the airport

The coach takes a while too.
I'd probably drive and take the ferry next time. Journey time works out about the same. Cost works out about the same. Depends where you live though I guess. We're about an hour's drive south of Manchester.

i'm not knocking the deal, but for people in or around yorkshire, the p and o minicruise offer runs until march and would probably work out as a cheaper option to see bruges.

And avoid Brussels. Totally shocking place, it's like a third world country apart from the ivory towers of the EU metropolis.

I wondered when the first moronic comment would appear, and lo and behold there it is.

Charleroi airport is closer to Brussels city centre than Heathrow is to London city centre...

Being robbed of our passports.
Romanians punching food off your plate while eating in the square.
Being mithered by beggars every 10 minutes. I'd say it was not a nice city.
But that's my opinion, but as a typical 'Right On' nobody is allowed an opinion unless it agrees with your Guardian reading, tofu eating, sandal wearing b*******t

But does it have the same transportation links that Heathrow has, namely the express and underground

Airport was always well known for its strikes
